Major Signs to appear in our age...

Of the major signs, two are of particular importance, the coming of the Mahdi
and the appearance of Dajjal, these two signs may be imminent and possibly
occur in the next few years according to some Islamic scholars and Sufi Sheikhs.
The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, once addressed the people say-
ing: "The Day of Deliverance, what is the Day of Deliverance!" and repeating it
thrice. He was asked: "What is the Day of Deliverance?" He said: "The Dajjal
(The Imposter of the End of Time) will come, climb on top of Jabal Habshi, look
at Madinah, and say to his Companions: Do you see this white palace? This is
the mosque of Ahmad. Then he will approach Madinah only to find on each
path an angel with a drawn sword. He will reach the wasteland of Al-Jurf and
make camp. Madinah will then shake thrice and no hypocrite man or woman, nor
corrupt man or woman will fail to go out to join him. This is the Day of Deliver-
ance!" [Ahadith about the signs of The Hour, Mustafa Al-Adawi]
It is interesting to note that the place mentioned in the Hadith called Jabal Hab-
shi, which is just outside Madinah, is actually being developed and a palace be-
ing constructed on that site.

The Kingdoms Palace or Dajjals?..

It is reported that
the Saudis have
built a large com-
plex infrastructure
'palace' at the top
of Jabal Habshi,
calling it " The King-
dom's Palace".
The locals refer to it
as "Dajjal's palace"
according to reports from pilgrims to Madinah.

Even from a distance of 7km, from the top of Jabal Habshi you can directly see
the mosque of the Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, and its minarets,
which coincides with the words of the Hadith that Dajjal will stand there and point
towards the mosque saying, "That white palace is the palace of Ahmad".


Contemporary thoughts...

In an uncertain world there are many opinions and interpretations on what lies ahead for all
of mankind, here we present the views of the noble Sufi Sheikh Maulana Sheikh Nazim on
the completion of the small signs and the start of the major signs.
Very soon there is going to be a Great War that will destroy three out of four parts; three-
fourths is going to be destroyed and out of seven people, six are going to be destroyed. The
most terrible and the greatest war is coming now, and that is the bridge or mediator be-
tween the small signs and big signs; when that war breaks out, the little signs are
going to draw near to the big signs. The people of this world are waiting; everyone is
awaiting that war, morning or evening. There is a fear on the whole world.

When that begins, finished. The big signs will follow the war, and during the war Mahdi (as)
will say Takbir, Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! and will appear for Muslims, and
then the great sign, the Dajjal, will come. After that the second great sign, Isa (as) (Jesus)
will come. Then three parts of this dunya will sink into the earth; then Yajuj and Majuj, then
Dabbat ul-Ard. Then Dukhan; this whole world is going to be covered by thick smoke; then
fire; then the Sun rising from the place of its setting, the West. When it is all complete Qiya-
mah will come.

As believers of the Traditions, we believe in a Saviour who will come first before Jesus. Yes.
He must come before Jesus. We have this in our Traditions. His name is Muhammad al
Mahdi (as). He is coming, but his arrival will be after a Great War (Armageddon). Our Tradi-
tions tell us that the Great War will be the last war. It will be fought by the big powers with
each other. Dont say that Switzerland is a neutral country or Austria or Luxembourg or
Sweden. No! When the storm comes, it will come from the East to the West, totally and
wholly. Also from the West to the East. From the continents to the Oceans and from the
Oceans to the continents. That must be so.

And in that huge war, the Mahdi (as) will come like a Divine Hand from heaven to earth and
stop the war because when small countries are fighting now, the big ones come and say,
Stop! but what about when the big dragons come to fight? No one can stop them except
Divine Power which will say to them, God is Greater! (Allahu akbar!). Then they must stop.
That will be the first Saviour whose name has been given through Traditions as Muhammad
al-Mahdi (as).

A short time after this, a tyrant will appear, well known through Traditions as Anti-Christ. He
is the most dangerous tyrant for the children of Adam. The whole world will get into never
ending troubles and sufferings during his time.

Then the second Saviour, Jesus (as) will come from heavens to earth. He will meet Mahdi
(as) in Damascus at the tomb of John the Baptist, the son of Jesus Christs aunt Elizabeth,
the wife of Zachariah. He is buried in Damascus under a beautiful dome. Jesus Christ will
come to a minaret of that dome which lies in the East when the people go to the dawn pre-
scribed prayer and two angels will protect him with their wings, they will bring him down. He
will be wearing a green turban and he will be shining. He has the most beautiful face, rosy
and white.

He has a sword. When he was on earth, he never touched a sword, but now he is coming
as a Saviour. In his time, all technology will be finished. His sword can reach any point to
where he sends it. It is a miraculous sword, a heavenly sword, his Lord gave it to him. He
will save the people from the hands of the Anti-Christ. He will come to the dawn prescribed
prayer. It will be full of people in the mosque and they will all be performing the prescribed
prayer because prayer is always for all Prophets and their nations. Even if his people have
lost it now, it does not matter. Jesus Christ was, in any case, praying to his Lord. He was not
praying to himself or to the cross. No! He was kneeling in front of his Lord. He is the Saviour
who will save the people and will not leave one of the followers of Anti-Christ on earth.
When he saves the people from the hands of the Anti-Christ, there will come forty years of
absolute peace on earth. In those times we will not need planes or ships or cars. Nothing!
Every person will be given miraculous powers through Jesus Christ.
Here we end the address of the noble Sheikh on what mankind have in store for themselves
when the minor signs finally complete and the major signs begin.

Introduction
The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, informed those around him
about the minor and major signs that will herald the end times. It is gener-
ally believed that minor signs have to be completed before the major signs
appear and that the minor signs map out the degeneration of human soci-
ety in terms of morality, ethics and breakdown of traditional values on a
global scale.
In the following article some of the most striking minor signs visible to the
whole of humanity are mentioned together with the major signs that are to
follow, marking the end of history on our planet for mankind and all the
seen and unseen inhabitants on Earth.

The Minor Signs
Islamic scholars have recorded over seventy minor signs stated by the Holy
Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, most of which are said to have been
fulfilled in our age. These minor signs can be seen at all levels of human
existence in our age, from family life to the global events taking place now.
Every home in our age seems to have been afflicted by the breakdown of
families to the point of parents being discarded as non-entities and children,
from a young age, showing disrespect for their parents. The traditional sys-
tem of extended family has near enough disappeared from all societies.
This break up of family values was one of the minor signs mentioned in
Hadith as stated below.
The Hadith stating the slave-woman will give birth to her mistress (or
master) is explained by commentators as alluding to the mistreatment
both girls and boys will show towards their mother to the point that on look-
ers would think the mother of the children is a slave being ordered around
by her masters. [Muslim]
Another Hadith states, "When a man obeys his wife and disobeys his
mother; and treats his friends kindly whilst shunning his father",
meaning that a man will neglect his mother and father while pleasing oth-
ers, this behaviour will cause heartache and sadness to the parents, yet
such behaviour has now become the norm of modern society. [Tirmidhi]

State of the Nations
The following Hadith describes one of the most striking minor signs that
affects all nations in our times and has led to civil unrest around the world
due to corrupt and incompetent leadership.
A Bedouin once came and asked the Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa
Sallam, "When will the Hour (Day of Judgement) take place?" The
Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, replied, "When honesty is
lost, then wait for the Hour." The Bedouin said, "How will that be
lost?" The Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, "When the
power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait for
the Hour."[Bukhari]

Since 9/11, Islam has come under direct attack from all non-Muslim nations
and religious communities. Shamelessly the West has allowed burning of
the Holy Quran, Cartoons of the Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam,
banning of Muslim womens right to dress Islamically, attacks on Muslims
right to consume Halaal meat as demonstrated in Sri Lanka where several
Mosques have been burnt down, not to mention the plight of the Muslims in
Burma were Buddhists monks have rampaged against innocent Muslim
communities.
In every corner of the Globe, Muslims have become vulnerable to relentless attacks.
Its an unprecedented time in Islamic history but which was prophesised in the follow-
ing Hadith of End Times. The Hadith states that the nations of the World will gather
against the Muslims like hungry people going to sit at a table full of food. This will oc-
cur when the Muslims are large in number, but weak in substance "like the foam of the
sea".
It is reported that the Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, "It is near that
the nations will call one another against you, just as people when eating invite
others to share their food." Somebody asked, "Is this because we will be few in
numbers that day?" He said, "Nay, that day you shall be numerous, but you will
be like the foam of the sea, and Allah will take the fear of you away from your
enemies and will place weakness into your hearts." Somebody asked, "What is
this weakness?" He said, "The love of the world and the dislike of death.
[Sunan Abu Dawud]

Global Events
The much publicised Arab Spring and the chaos that has ensued is well summarised
in the following Hadith. Since the Arab nations have given up ruling by Shariah Law,
which ensures justice, peace and harmony, they are now faced with their own destruc-
tion from external powers as well as infighting.
The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, If people should break their
covenant with Allah and His Messenger, you should realise that this has never hap-
pened without Allah sending an enemy against them to take some of their posses-
sions by force, if the leaders do not govern according to the Book of Allah, you
should realise that this has never happened without Allah making them into
groups and making them fight one another." [Ibn Majah]
Mindless killing, bloodshed and wars around the world on a Global scale are signs of
the approach of End Times as mentioned in the following Hadiths.
The world will not come to an end until a day would come to the people on
which there will be general massacre and bloodshed. [Muslim]
The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, "Time will pass rapidly, good
deeds will decrease, miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people), af-
flictions will appear and there will be much 'Al-Harj.'" They said, "O Allah's Mes-
senger! What is 'Al-Harj?' He said, "Killing! Killing!" [Bukhari]
The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, Before the Hour will come an
upheaval. I said, O Messenger of Allah, what is the upheaval? He said,
Killing. Some of the Muslims said, O Messenger of Allah, indeed we fight in
one year such-and-such many idolaters. He said, It is not that you will fight
the idolaters, but rather you will fight each other until a man kills his neighbour
and the son of his mother and his close relatives. Some of the people said, O
Messenger of Allah, will we be reasonable on that day? He said, No, for rea-
son will be removed from most of the people in that era, and the remaining peo-
ple will not have their ability to reason. [Ibn Majah]

Skyscrapers
One of the most evident minor signs is that of tall buildings being built at End Times, it
is striking that this sign is specific to the region and people who will build these enor-
mous buildings. No one can fail to take account of the following Hadith:
"...when you see barefooted, unclothed (taken to mean uneducated and coarse
in nature) Bedouins competing in the construction of tall buildings. (Muslim)
It is no secret that this Hadith refers to the present rulers of the Gulf countries and
Saudi Arabia, the rulers were previously just nomadic Bedouins and became rich over-
night due to Oil and their strategic location in the modern world of trade and com-
merce. Its even more interesting that these middle Eastern Arab nations, literally com-
pete with each other in breaking world records in the construction of the worlds tallest
Skyscrapers.
Time and Travel
The pressures of modern life and the demands of technology has both
made time seem faster and the world smaller, indeed the world now is de-
scribed as a Global Village due to instant communication and fast means
of travel in our age. Hadith quoted below describes the acceleration of time
and the shrinking of the world.
''Time would move faster - so that a whole year would pass like a
month, a month would pass like a week, a week like a day, a day like
an hour, and an hour like the amount of time it takes to kindle a
fire. [Imam Ahmed]
The Major Signs
With the completion of the minor signs the major signs will begin, but unlike
the minor signs that have taken 1400 years to complete, the major signs
will follow each other in a very quick succession as noted in the following
Hadith:
Signs following one another like the pieces of a necklace falling one
after the other when its string is cut.[Tirmidhi]
Hudhayfah ibn 'Ubayd said, "The Holy Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa
Sallam, came upon us whilst, we were busy in discussion. He asked
us, 'What are you talking about?' We said, 'We are discussing the
Hour.' He said, 'It will not come until you see ten signs: the smoke,
the Dajjal, the beast, the sun rising from the West, the descent of Je-
sus son of Mary, Gog and Magog, and three land-slides - one in the
East, one in the West, and one in Arabia, at the end of which fire will
burst forth from the direction of Aden (Yemen) and drive people to
the place of their final assembly." [Ahmad]
Islamic scholars are of the opinion that the above major ten signs are not
necessarily in chronological order, however, it is agreed upon that the
Imam of the End Times, Imam Mahdi (as), will appear during much turmoil
in the World and a major War (3
rd
World War).
Many amongst the learned Muslims believe that the advent of Imam Mahdi
(as) is at hand, and that we are on the brink of a major war referred to in
the Hadiths as Malhamatul Qubra or the Great War such as humanity has
never seen, wiping out some 6 in 7 people off the face of the Earth.
It is believed that Imam Mahdi (as) will rule for 7 to 9 years during which
time, Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) will appear followed by Isa (as). Isa (as) will
destroy the Anti-Christ and rule over the world for 40 years, and during the
early period of Isas (as) reign the Hajuj Majuj (Gog & Magog) will appear
causing much destruction in the world.
Conclusion
Hundreds of signs of the End Times are well recorded in the Quran,
Hadiths and the Kashf (hidden knowledge/unveiling) of the Sufi Saints,
however no one can say for sure the exact time of the events described.
Therefore, the only way to know that we are approaching the End Times is
through the minor and major signs described to us by the Holy Prophet,
Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam.
There are of course many views and interpretations of the signs men-
tioned, however, some of them are self evident as in the case of moral de-
cline throughout the world, mindless killings of innocent people, infighting
of the Arab nations and the Skyscrapers of the barefooted Bedouins.
This article was written as an awakening and not as a prediction of the fu-
ture events, readers will no doubt observe the world events and draw their
own conclusions of the minor Signs that have already appeared in our age
and Allah Almighty knows best.
