3. EQUIPMENT
3.1. The e&uipment shall be capable of detecting the leaks b'
sni(er method.
3.2. The follo)ing e&uipment )ill be used for Helium Leak testing
ALCATEL ASM142.
4. QUALIFICATION OF PERSONNEL
The personnel carr'ing out of the Leak Testing e$amination and
evaluation under this procedure shall be &uali*ed as per ASNT LT Level

Connected to the S'stem6s7 Air 8emoval S'stem detects even
lo) traces of helium.
4.5 Helium is applied to the various components )ithin the vacuum
boundar' of a
turbine . condenser s'stem. %ncase of a leak7 the in9ected helium
enters the steam side of the condenser and is removed b' the
s'stem7 the same )ill be correspondingl' detected b' the leak
detector connected to the air removal s'stem.

4.2 This same procedure )ill be adapted to all the negative pressure
parts individuall'
:hile the unit is in service. All the leak' spots identi*ed )ill be
tagged for further repairing action at 'our
end.
4., Helium inspection being ;ualitative inspection7 onl' samples of
the o( gases from the e9ector is anal'<ed b' the mass
spectrometer. The entire o( gases can be monitored7 ho)ever the
cost and time involved in the inspection becomes high.Hence the
leak rate observed is categori<ed based on the e$perience of the
inspection ngineer.
4.= Leak indication are speci*ed in mbar.l.s.>ased on the leak rate the
leaks can be categori<ed as small7medium7large7ver' large and
severe.
4.? ach leak is recorded )ith location7 anal'<ed value7 and si<e.
