who wields the bow by name Pinaka, who is the Bramhan by himself, has created the head (intelligence) from the life of (praa) Bramham, May he bestow longevity on us. I offer clarified butter (ghee) to that lord in worship. 2. Shining forth at the mid of the waters, he has emerged out of the brilliant heat and lustre. May that Lord Shiva remove us from the ghastly nooses of the lord of death. May that lord enjoy the ghee offering and bless us with longevity herein. 3. The Brahma jyoty has instilled that embryo in the womb of te Brahma pathini's and which embryo emerged in many forms; to that Golden egg (Prajapati) we offer ghee oblation for the sake of winning long life for us. . 4. Lakshmi who is auspious, Maubala, Ambika, cow etc., are all called as Indra sena (the army of Indra) I worship her with ghee for the sake of long life and which Lakshmi is identical with that Brahma vidya born out of Brahma himself. 5. Those Dakashiyanis who are present every where, who are generative of thousands and multiple forms, who are impellers, who are with their sons, with their husbands who are with their retinue, who are the givers of long life, may they accept my this ghee offering. 6. Those Ganas of Lord Shiva who are divine, who are ancient, and who move about in manifold forms and who are the removers of long life, May they all trouble our enemies, I offer ghee as oblation to all of them, May they not give trouble to our people nor to our warriors. 7. The Lord Shiva who remains at the fore front as leader, who has created the World and from whom the life has come forth, who is the protector of the whole universe and into whom all the universal forces merge in friendship, May that lord enjoy the oblation of ghee and vigour on us bestow in order to give long life. 8. May we grow prosperous with our own stipulated long life after offering the ghee oblations to the various gods : Vasus, Rudras, Adityas, Maruts, Sadhyas, Rubus, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Pitrus (Departed Father), The Brughus, The Serpants, Sage Angi Rasa and like wise all other Gods.' Here in this Sukta, the Lord Isana is the overlord of Ayushya of Humans and other beings. It is repeatedly requested, that the Lord should accept and enjoy the ghee offerings. In reply, the lord is requested to secure saftey and health of beings and at the same time extend blessings for longevity. In the eighth stanza, it is mentioned that many Gods assist the doings of Rudra and a synchronised salute to all these is a powerful activity and our life on earth is a safety and happiness due to Shiva. Daily recitation is recommended for strength and vigour also.
