Overview
Chinas methanol market performed differently in the rst and second half of 2013.
Prices softened in the rst half of the year amid a bearish global economy and a weak
macroeconomic environment in China. However, prices regained growth in the second
half of the year, especially in early December, when the upturn accelerated to the highest
point in the past ve years. The total export volume in J anuary-November was at 654,700
tonnes, nearly 10 times the amount in 2012.
China is the largest methanol import market within Asia and a key driver of international
