SURVIVES 3 DRY CLEANINGS
DIRECTIONS:
Mix Before Use: UNKNOWN FABRIC BLENDS: Test small strips of the fabric with different mixtures of our flame
retardant and treat as follows:
™
1. Dip a piece of dry, clean fabric cloth in a 3-1 mixture of Water to FABRIC SEAL Retardant Concentrate and dry.
2. Hold the fabric vertically. Place the flame of a match next to one edge of the vertical piece for 12 seconds. It will
blacken where the flame was. Remove the match. If it does not sustain a flame or smoke excessively when the match is
removed, this is the mixture to use. Check for color fastness. If this does not work do Step 3.
™
3. Dip another piece of the fabric in a 2-1 mixture of Water to FABRIC SEAL Retardant Concentrate and let dry. Test
with flame as in Step 2. If that does not work, then go to step 4.
™
4. Dip another piece of the fabric in a 1-1 mixture of Water to FABRIC SEAL Retardant Concentrate. Test as in Step 2.
5. Retreatment is recommended after three (3) dry cleanings or one (1) machine washing with water.

FLAME SEAL-TB™ COATING is mixed with T50-TB™ CURING AGENT (both arrive in
correct mixture ratios)
1. ALL SURFACES SHOULD BE CLEAN AND DRY. (NEW METAL SURFACES SHOULD BE CLEAN OF ALL
MANUFACTURERS PROTECTIVE RESIDUES. OLD METAL SHOULD BE CLEAN OF ALL OXIDATION.)
2. MIX ONLY THE MATERIAL THAT WILL BE USED IN A 2-3 HOUR PERIOD. (MATERIAL THICKENS WITHIN
2-3 HOURS) CAUTION - USE WITHIN ONE (1) HOUR IF SPRAYING ! DO NOT MIX FRESH MATERIAL AND
PARTIALLY CURED MATERIAL - USE A NEW, OR THOROGHLY CLEANED CONTAINER. KEEP ALL
CONTAINERS SEALED WHEN DIRECT ACCESS IS NOT REQUIRED.
3. MIX BY VOLUME:
4 PARTS - FX-100® COATING
1 PART - T-50™ CURING AGENT
WHEN 5 GALLONS OF FX-100 COATING IS ORDERED - 4 GAL OF FX-100® AND 1 GAL OF T-50™ ARE
SENT.
FLAME SEAL® FX-100® COATING (PART A) AND T-50™ CURING AGENT (PART B) SHOULD BE MIXED
THOROUGHLY WITH A MEDIUM SPEED, ROTATING MIXER. THE MIXER SHOULD BE USED IN SUCH A
WAY AS TO COMPLETELY BLEND THE TWO LIQUIDS, WHILE AVOIDING THE INTRODUCTION OF AIR INTO
THE LIQUID. THIS MEANS THE SPEED AND PITCH OF THE MIXER BLADES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED
TO DRAW AIR DOWN THE CENTER INTO THE LIQUID, CREATING AIR BUBBLES WITHIN THE MIXTURE.
5. SURFACTANTS:
IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH “BEADING”, “ROLLING OFF”, OR “SEPARATING” ON A SURFACE, YOU CAN
ADD 1-2% (MAXIMUM 5%) CLEAR IVORY LIQUID DISHWASHING SOAP (CONCENTRATE). THIS WILL
BREAK THE SURFACE TENSION AND CAUSE THE COATING TO REMAIN SMOOTH AND CONSISTENT. FX-
100® COATING IS COMPATIBLE WITH THIS SOAP, BUT IF IT IS ALLOWED TO STAND FOR A TIME, SOME OF
THE IVORY SOAP WILL MIGRATE TO THE TOP AND MUST BE MIXED IN AGAIN. AGAIN, REMEMBER, DO
NOT ALLOW THE MIXER TO CAUSE FOAMING OR DRAW AIR INTO THE MIXTURE WHILE BLENDING. THIS
BECOMES EVEN MORE CRITICAL WHEN ADDING A SURFACTANT (OR IN THE CASE A SOAP.)
FORCED CURE: THE COATING CAN BE FORCED TO AN ADVANCED CURE STATE BY HEATING THE
AIR TO 110 DEGREES F. FOR TWO HOURS.
KEEP EQUIPMENT CLEAN WITH HOT WATER DURING SPRAYING OPERATIONS. (SUGGESTED -
ONCE PER HOUR)
1. SHERWIN WILLIAMS - EXTERIOR LATEX, (INTERIOR LATEX PAINTS ARE NOT SUGGESTED.)
2. SHERWIN WILLIAMS - DUPLICOLOR - AUTOMOTIVE LAQUER SPRAY (CLEAR)
3. BLP MOBILE PAINTS, (MARINE PAINT) THEODORE, ALABAMA USA. - 800 621 6952,
A TOP COATING MUST NOT RESTRICT THE FX-100® COATING’s EXPANSION IN A FIRE.
*** NOTE : THE CHEMICAL MUST BE USED IN ITS “UNDILUTED” STATE. ***
1. FBS ® WRAP SYSTEM.. is a unique patented wrap which incorporates an intumescent material that
has an expansion ratio of over 100 to 1 to accomplish the large volumetric expansion of the "FBS®
System" containment design. This new technology was introduced by Flame Seal Products Inc. to the
Nuclear Power Industry for needed upgrading of existing fire protection on cable trays and conduits. At
Omega Point Laboratories Flame Seal achieved success where many other companies failed due to the
fact that the "FBS® System" has performance capabilities in a class by itself. The unique design allows
for a thin material during normal operations with a low insulative value. When a fire exposure occurs, the
innovative design begins to go through dramatic changes as the layers expand and fill with "a compacted
carbon intumescent material, creating a high insulative value while producing cooling endothermic
reactions within the coating matrix". "FBS® System" is currently being used by the Petrochemical
Industry on a global basis
2. FBS ® - J JACKET COVER SYSTEM. FLANGE COVER JACKETS were designed for use on Fiberglass Flanges to
upgrade their fire resistive performance to compete with steel flanges on offshore oil rigs. Original Fiberglass Flanges
cannot survive a 30-minute fire test without allowing the flange gasket to leak excessively. These jackets have passed an
ASTM F-1173 test to allow the flanges to pass a level 3, 30 minute test, per Appendix 1, Section 7 of the ABS guide for
offshore Fire Endurance Testing of Water Filled Plastic Piping. The finished material is approximately ¾” thick and weighs
1.25 - 1.5 lbs. / sq. ft.
