CULTURE AND ARTS: MIXED MEDIA ART MAKING COMPETITION
I. Eligibility and Qualification of Participants Participants must be enrolled in any undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and vocational- technical programs of the university during the first semester of the current academic year (AY 2014-2015). Participants will represent their college, school, or center where they are enrolled. A maximum of two (2) representatives are allowed to join per college, school, or center. Official registration sheets are available through the respective student councils. Student councils will be given the liberty on how to choose their final participants. Student councils are expected to give the registration sheet on 8 September 2014, 6:00 PM, to Camille Dangco.
II. Competition Guidelines All participants are required to join the mixed media art orientation at Science Center I (SC I) on 16 September 2014, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Participants who fail to join the orientation will not be allowed to compete. Participants are also required to bring 1 feet by 2 feet board, wood, paper or any material for the mixed media entry. The material will depend upon the convenience and need of the participant. Prior to the start of the competition proper, thecompetition staff will check if thereare any markings on the material. Should there be few or more markings on the material, concerned participants will be asked to purchase or produce a new and clean one. Participants may bring any art materials they need for their output. These materials will depend upon the discretion of the participants. Participants are given four (4) hours to create the mixed media entry on 19 September 2014, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the XU Peace Park. (NOTE: This is not a poster making contest; thus, creativity is highly tested during the competition) Eachparticipant is allowed to submit one (1) entry only. The entry must adhere to the theme given by the competition staff. All final output should be in two-dimensional (2D)form.(three-dimensional [3D] artworks will automatically be disqualified) Entries will be judged according to the following criteria: Originality 20% Craftsmanship 30% Relevance to the Theme 30% Visual impact 20% TOTAL 100% Top three entries will be declared as winners during The Xavier Cup Closing Ceremonies on 20 September 2014. Cash prizes will be given to the winners. Results will not hold any bearing to the overall score during the intramurals. Decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable.
