Being a teacher: A Professional privilege.

When I was in school I thought that what teachers had to do they just keep
giving the many homework and teaching us by using old methods like
spoon-feeding and only text work not at all any activity.

But when I started teaching life I had all those ideas which I had taken from
my teachers as being a teacher is not a big deal its so easy to teach.

During my teaching experiments and practices I think life of a teacher is
challenging, varied, and highly rewarding.

The important tools to convince my student to learn is behavior, develop
good relationship, representational system and how much you showed
commitment to teach?

Once I taught how to trace circle and square for that I made a fiction short
story before asking my students to trace that I delivered a story for all little
angle (Kindergarten level) they all looked at me with happy big smile to
listen a story: I had two different shapes of glass material and kept on TV I
asked my younger brother to bring them to me circle and square shape while
he picked it up and fell down so those glass were broken into pieces like this
I draw it on board by using black marker.

Then I asked them what happen if someone got hurt same as those shapes
got hurt I herd a voice for pain and some blood came out from them.
They start giving me answer Ill take them to hospital, bandage them, glued
them with UHU tube and so many different answers from all my little
angles. Perfect Ok but yet we have to join them with what I have a red
marker for circle and blue for square so they replied we have pencil colors,
crayons etc. to trace them. While I observe them when they were tracing and
one of my little angle said I had missed some of dots may be blood came out
quickly I had to trace it perfectly so they cant feel pain.
I used to think that I was a pretty good teacher. Now I realize that I did the
best I could with the knowledge I had, but my classroom was woefully
inadequate for many of my students. I failed to equip them with what they
needed.

Then I changed techniques and strategies by story telling, outdoor activities
and giving special attention and time.

Thinking about learning.

I was in primary level class and to teach them What Plant knows?

I ask students we re going to start this class a little differently than the
earlier youve probably taken.
So, what I want you to do.
Put down your pencils.
Sit comfortably in the chair.
Then, I turned out lights in my class.
Okay?
Now, sit down, take a deep breath in.
Now, take a breath out.
Another breathes in.
Another breathes out.
Now, as you're slowly breathing, imagine
that there's been concrete poured in your room, and it's going all around your
feet.
Now take a breath in and a breath out.
Now as this concrete is around your feet,
it's slowly, slowly, drying, and you're trying to move your feet, but they're
stuck.
You can't move them.
Take another breath in and another breath out.
You're trying to move your feet, but you're cemented in place.
Now, as you're cemented in place in your room, start to think how is this
going to affect your life?
Another breath in and another breathe out.
So now, that you are all cemented where you are.
Then I asked students:
I want you to take a second, and now, write on paper what type of problem
you think you would have in your life, if you couldn't move, if you were
always cemented in place.

Then I gave then feedback to their responses:
How would you deal with the temperature changes if we couldnt move?
Deal when we feel hungry and thirsty?
How deal with enjoyment?
Meet our parents and friends.
How expose our feelings?

Well if you haven't understood this, these are all problems that plants have,
because actually, the biggest difference between plants and animals, are that
plants are sessile organisms.
They can't move.
They're literally rooted in place, just like you would be if you were
cemented. You know, if you think about it if you have a problem.
Let's say, you're hot or you're cold.
You can go to the closet, get a sweater.
what happen if you were
always cemented in place?
I couldn't
come to
school
couldn't eat
and find
water
couldn't
get a
sweater
couldn't go
to the
bathroom
couldn't
meet with
parents and
friends
couldn't go to
play
feel pain that
i m stuck
You could turn on, the air conditioner or you could catch a plane down to
Florida in the middle of the winter to, to escape the cold.
But plants, they can't do that, they can't escape.
They are stuck where they are.
And because of this, all of plant biology is quite complex to allow them to
change their own development, their growth, in order to survive stuck in one
place. So on a very basic biological level, plants are often more complex
than animals are. And as we'll learn in this class, plants have to know what
their surrounding are.
They have to feel the weather.
They have to be able to know where the light is.
The have to be able to see where the light is.
They have to be able to feel if something is touching them.
How do they do that?
That's what we're going to be learning in this topic What Plant Know?

After that my class period of that day is over the bell rang.
What my students feeling I couldnt able to explain but on the very next day
a teacher came to me and said Farida what you had teach them they are
waiting for your period.

Now, still I think that in teaching life does not mean that you are complete
NO. Have to revisit learning, thinking about thinking, teaching for learning,
thinking about curriculum. Means continuously learning and improve
thinking to become Being a professional teacher.
