In 2014
During 2014, US/ICOMOS placed
nine internsfive from the United
States, and four from other nations.
Organizations hosting interns from the
United States included the National
Trust for Scotland (Edinburgh),
the International National Trusts
Organization (London), Falmouth
Heritage Renewal (Jamaica), and
Volunteer South America (Ecuador).
In the United States, the Presidio Trust
(San Francisco, CA), the Preservation
Institute: Nantucket (Massachusetts),
the National Trust for Historic
Preservation (Washington, DC), and
US/ICOMOS (Washington, DC) hosted
interns from abroad.
IEP 2014
Orientation
The nine interns began their four days long
orientation on May 27, 2014 in the US/
ICOMOS offices, located in the historic
Christian Heurich House in Washington,
DC. US/ICOMOS Director Don Jones
provided an overview of ICOMOS and
the role of ICOMOS National Committees.
The interns then enjoyed presentations by
representatives from Preservation Action and
Scenic America, two preservation-centric
organizations, also located in Washington.
The presentations included overviews of
each organizations mission, programs, and
activities. Following a box lunch, the interns
then went downstairs for a tour of the Heurich
House Museum. With the remainder of the
afternoon free (and available for finalizing

Host: The Presidio Trust, San Francisco,
California
Project: Research, survey and documentation
of the Presidio Main Post Theatre.
Florence Declaveillere (France)
Host: National Trust for Historic Preservation,
Washington, DC
Project: Survey for the Historic Sites Team and
created measured drawing to compete for
the Leicester B. Holland Prize.
Katherine Jacob (USA)
Host: International National Trusts
Organization (INTO), London, United Kingdom
Project: Research of ten case studies for the
INTO Action project.
Zoe Leung (Hong Kong)
Host: US/ICOMOS Offices, Washington, DC
Project: Social media strategy, branding, and
international exchange alumni network.
