ACTIVITY 1

Review a cooperating teachers plan or book.

Document the levels of cognitive, affective and psychomotor objectives utilized.
Write your observation below.
Cognitive Affective psychomotor

In the cognitive aspect,
wherein the intellectual
operation from the lower
level of simple recall of
information to more
complex one and the
high- level of thinking
process. It includes the
students ability to
recognize and recall the
information taught;
understand the meaning
of the information; how
to use the information;
to generate new ideas
and knowing the worth
of the idea.

In this aspect, using the
writing about the story
or their emotional
aspect. Their English
teacher teach them how
to write a letter that can
touch or relate the
readers. I observe that
the teacher has different
technique.

In the psychomotor
aspect, where they have
a activity that used their
critical thinking and
creativeness. They are
making some activity
using the actions or their
skills.

Your analysis:

Do you feel that the materials are appropriate for the pupils being taught?
In my observation in New Society National High School the materials are
appropriate for the pupils because the students can understand. Their teacher in
T.L.E made use as instructional materials such as books. He also used puppets so
the students can get used to moving the hands in coordinated motion with the
words they speak out. This is good for the psychomotor skills to develop. The
props they will create will also make use of their creative side.
Their teacher in Filipino used posters because she believes that 75% of
what students learn is acquired thru vision. She said soliciting prior knowledge is
very good way to start the class. She also believes that sometimes the questions
asked are more important than the answers.
People learn in different ways. Some people are auditory learners and
some are visual learners. Others absorb and retain a great deal of information
that theyve read while others need visual stimulants to make learning easier.

Are the books up to date??
Yes,

What decisions has the teacher made in deciding what materials to be used?
The teacher decide to have a materials for teaching that the students understand
carefully about the topic using the auditory and visual materials. Instructional
materials are an excellent aid for students to have the best possible way of
getting the attention of the students would be easier, the class would be more
realistic, and it gives an opinion on the topic. When the instructional materials are
well prepared and organized, a successful teaching-learning can be achieved.
The teacher adhere the principles of learning and it makes the presentation
of lesson be purposeful in thoughts as well as in action. The knowledge and skills
needed by the students to attain was almost been learned by how she adopted
the principles. The teaching itself was so smooth and the learners found very
minimal hardship in acquiring learning. An active classroom environment was
being created and the learners realize its importance in their lives.

ACTIVITY 2

Review the curriculum used by the teacher.
Read the materials thoroughly. Find out what are the questions that can be
asked. Obtain answers to these questions by asking some teachers or school
authorities. Write a narrative that describes your questions and how you sought
clarifications.
Questions Clarifications

1. What are the different between the
curriculum in k-12 to the past
curriculum?

2. What are the effective technique for
the students to learn easily?

3. How can motivate the students by
their teacher?

The different is the k-12 curriculum
it added 2 years in high school and it
has there specialization in their skills.
We trying that the student grow in
emotionally and all aspect.

Every individual has a different ways
to learn there are somebody learn in
visual and others in auditory materials.
We are not depending on the
instructional materials but also in how
we teach the student, what could be
the good effect to them. We are
teaching based on what we know that
can help to them to learn.

As I observe the teacher motivate
the students by teaching respectfully
and as being a role model. By using the
different strategies and techniques.

ACTIVITY 3

Observe a series of lessons and document the teacher principles, methods
and strategies for teaching used.
Prepare a daily log on your observation. Write a narrative about your
insights.

DAILY LOG:

Day 1:
It was first introduced to New Society National High School to observe, I
was assigned to 4
th
yr section Galilie. It was their Mathematics subject and the
teacher is Ms.Polantos and their topic for the day is about measurements
particularly the area of squares. I noticed that the teacher practice the principle of
providing opportunities for learners. First, the teacher explains the topic itself,
and then gives more examples so that the students will understand it better. After
giving sample problems, the students are asked to participate. They are called
randomly to answer the problem written on the blackboard. This type of
approach is very effective because the students will also enhance their social
interaction with his or her other classmates aside from their mental skills to solve
the given problem, the reason why is that after answering the question, the
students are asked to explain on how and what did they do to answer the
questions.

Day 2:
In my second day, their subject is Science and their teacher is Maam Che.
By that time, they were checking their assignment, and the process of checking
was good. They review each question one by one and recall their previous
discussion. It is very effective, so that the teacher will know if the topic discussed
was retained on the students mind and if the students really understand the
subject topic that was discussed. After checking the assignment, Maam Che
proceeds to introduce a new topic. As a sort of review, the teacher asked briefly
what they discussed last meeting. And then going to the new topic, the principle
of teaching-learning that was commonly applied was the wise use of resources.
Maam Che presented a chart of the different kinds and layers of soil. The wise
use of materials really caught the attention of students that made them retain
their interest on the topic.

Day 3:
On the 3
rd
day . Maam May Ann is their teacher and the subject was
English. The teaching-learning that was applied is sharing of experiences of the
teacher and the students. They are particularly discussing about Proper and
Common Nouns and the students are asked to make their own constructed
sentences out of the given proper and common nouns. The strategy used by the
teacher is very effective because the students will be able to relate their
experiences and all the other things that they know in constructing a sentence.

Day 4:
This is the last day of my observation, their teacher in Economics
using a projector and his lesson is using a power point the students is listening
carefully to their teacher because the teacher can teach them with his attention
because he is not going to write in the board. I observe that the students are
interested in their lesson if the teacher is strict. They are very quit in that class
because if someone is noisy they will stand until the class dismiss.

INSIGHTS:

Day 1:
The teacher in mathematics try to teach her students in math to make
them easy to understand because some of the students think that mathematics is
difficult subject. She allowed the students to answer in the board. It is her
technique that the students understand easily her topic. She is giving another
point to those students who participate in the class discussion.

Day 2:
The teacher in science is recalling the topic what they have been discussed
in the past day. She is making an illustration so that the student can understand
what she had discussed. By recalling the topic and giving some question she can
measure what could be the part where the student has a difficulty.

Day 3:
As I observe in this day I learn more on different technique of the teacher
where their English teacher after the discussion she pick some students to share
their experiences using the words what theyve discuss. It so nice to hear to share
the students where they are learning.

Day 4:
The teacher in Economics trying to do some techniques that the students
can learn how to respect every individual. He want his student listen him carefully
as a respect and teaching them with useful. Using his power point many examples
and the students explore on his topic.

ACTIVITY 4
Writing Various Techniques in Teaching a Subject Area

This will assess various practices of teaching techniques in teaching a
subject area.
It will identify the significance of these practices in preparing prospective
teachers in engaging their own design and pathway studies appropriate to the
task of a professional teacher.
It introduces prospective teachers as active researchers to the classroom
context.
1. Observe the school learning experiences the teachers demonstrate
using varied techniques of teaching. What are the strengths or the
development needs would be worth focusing on in this observation?

As I observe the teachers are using different strategies and techniques
that can help to the students to learn about the subject. The way they
demonstrate to the students or discipline by their self. Even the classroom is so
noisy the teacher can manage it in the way of respect. For me I think it needs a
little of interaction between the students and teacher because some of the
students are shy to answer even they know it. The teacher need to think a
strategies that the students can show their ability.

2. Analyze the technique
The technique they are using is good enough for the student to learn, by
the using of the different technique of the teacher the experience in
learning of the student is capable to their skills. The teacher see the
students as unique individual. In my observation I learn more new
technique that I can use in the near future.

3. Incorporate more enhanced or sophisticated technique that can be
worked out.

As an observer in New Society National High school many different
Techniques are using by the teacher that can help to the student to
think critically and enhanced their ability. Showing to their student the
importance of education is the basis for their good teaching

4. Indicate key features of the technique affected by the experiences and
willingness to make changes on classroom instruction.

5. Reflect on and pan for continuous improvement of various teaching
techniques using productive pedagogy.
Write a summary record or development plan.

6. Write a learning journal indicating each of the above tasks as learning
experience 1,2 and so on.

ACTIVITY 7
The Competency Model in Basic Education requires the following approaches,
namely:
Flexible Approach
Meaning you can work on your own and you are self-motivated.
You can become an active member of a team and have experience in both
capacities.
You can take leadership role when this is required.
Communication Skill
You can demonstrate the acquisition of communication skills in reading
analytically, writing fluently, speaking articulately and listening diligently.
You can prepare a presentation using any tool.
Communication
You are willing to perform all tasks required of you to do.
You have the thought of completing the tasks and willing to work outside
classroom time.
Skill 1. Predicting Outcome
Write in the space below something good that will happen to education if
all education graduates can develop what is suggested in the competency model.
My Prediction

If all something good that will happen to education graduates can develop
maybe the students are not difficult to teach and many strategies or technique
can develop of the teachers. The students will cooperate to their teacher for the
better. Many students can learn more effectively and they can share their
knowledge to their classmate. There are many good effect to the students even to
the teachers. I think many students will be interested in school and being a rule
model many good attitudes can apply of the students.

Education is more effective and the students can easy to understand the
lessons. The teaching make easy and the interaction is in the four side of the
classroom. As I observed while we are doing our task, I realized that the teacher
must be creative in a way that she can be able to assess the students in their
performances. The teacher can also use the various types of assessment
techniques, to evaluate the level of the student learning capability. Because the
assessment involves the gathering data or information, established type of
product performance or recording sheet must be generated so that the students
will be equip with skills and knowledge. The teacher also requires the students to
bring portfolios. The portfolio is a systematic and purposeful way to collect and
store the outputs of the students about their work. It provides documentation of
students learning, knowledge and skill that they obtain from their teacher.

If all this happen the goal of the individual is achieved.

Skill 2. Evaluate ideas and make a judgement.
Process: Gather newspaper features that will jibe with the topic education
reform.
Paste it on this page.

Skill 3.identify features, articles, and news about suggested school reforms like:
Mathematics competencies in the workforce.
Science competencies in the biological and physical world.
Art and Humanities competencies in decision-making from daily
responsibilities to social issues.
Social Behavioral Sciences Competencies in understanding, analyzing and
describing aspects of behavior from diverse political, social, historical, and
cultural perspective.
Draw, sketch, write or paste features on this page; or write an imaginary diary.

Skill 4. Identifying key concepts
In a schematic diagram, present a schema of the key features of Basic
Education Reform.
Write your schema below.

Skill 5. Making conclusions or syntheses (enhancing writing skills)
Output: A Pictionary or poster.
Topic: The restoration of quality basic education, through integration.

Skill 6. Exploring or searching for other information related to the core
competency of the basic education tool subjects
Paste, write information gathered here:

Skill 7. Criteria:
1. What did I learn from these activities?

2. How can I learn more?

TEACHING PORTFOLIOS
A teaching portfolio (sometimes referred to as portfolio) is a personal
record of achievement and professional development as a teacher. It is a carefully
selected and structured collection of materials that may demonstrate a level of
attainment, a range of skills and activity, and/or progression.
Portfolio can be assembled for different purposes for different purposes
generally: for use in summative assessment as part of a qualification or program
of study, and/or to demonstrate achievement for purposes such as passing
through probation promotion and continuing professional development. The
distinction between these two types of portfolios can sometimes be blurred, but
it is a helpful aid to discussion of construction and related issues.
A teaching portfolio requires the inclusion of authentic piece of evidence
about the teaching and support for learning of practitioners. This evidence is not
created just for the portfolio, but is a part of everyday practice. It is useful to put
the evidence into context for the reader, for example by mentioning the courses,
modules and units taught. Types of materials which might comprise the evidence
include the following, in no particular order:

Self-authored documents such as studying guides or program
specifications;
Module descriptions including aims and objectives/outcomes;
Session plants or planning notes;
Records of supervised activities;
Web-based learning resources;
Problem-based learning triggers;
AD (audio disk) materials, e.g. handouts from PowerPoint presentation;
Students handouts or workbooks;
Documentation to support practice teaching;
Instruments for assessment of student learning;
Summary of examination results;
Examples of students work;
Video, audio, DVD and photographic material;
Self-authored C and IT (computer and information technology) materials;
Self-created learning resources such as models;
Printouts of electronic communications;
Written evidence of observed teaching sessions;
Details of courses and workshops attended on teaching and learning;
Educational publication;
List of recent professional development activities undertaken.

Activity 22

Interrogating Practice

As a start towards getting into a reflective frame, think about the last
piece of learning activities you did. List the aspects that seemed to go well;
the things that didnt seem to work quite as well as expected and how you
might change the latter and why.

How I Prepare My Teaching Portfolio

Activity 23 Feedback: Student Diaries

After accomplishing various task designed for the Principles of Teaching
write a diary containing the following information.

Objective/Purpose: Gain on-going feedback from the field study experience
that present various simulated teaching and assessment of
teaching as the course requirement.

Structure:
Students are asked to:
1. Write a diary, as their responses to the different simulated
teaching and observed activities.
2. Develop an enthusiasm for reflecting on personal learning
at greater length.
Outcomes:
1. Write your own personal response to teaching (no format is
needed, just respond in any way you want).
2. Focus on your own diary of learning rather than merely
making judgmental assessment of the sessions and
activities.
3. Each one will identify common comments, or interesting
individual responses not shared with others.
4. More discussion and critiques, especially to the created
task.

Write you diary on the space below

Activity 24

Write all your responses on this page.

a. Personal responses to teaching

b. Diary of your own learning

c. Common comments on interesting individual responses

d. More critique on the created tasks

Activity 25 Motivation
The following questions are designed to help you think about your
strategies in teaching and to give you insight into it. Read completely through
each group of items; then rank them in importance by using I for the phrase that
applies best to you. 2 for the phrase that applies next best and so on.
1. In cooperative learning I know I can

Make my classroom the mirror of a larger society and be a laboratory for
real-life learning,
Create a learning environment characterize by democratic procedures.
Class procedures can be small, problem-solving group of students searching
for their own oneness in their interaction with another.
Improve relationship between teacher and students; students and
students.
Working independently on a common task.
Learn to appreciate each other.
Encourage cooperation and collaboration.

2. In the different learning styles, I learned to

Help the students view the content they learned.
Categorize according to ways individual organize and process information.
Identify the best ways a student learns, and since individual do not learn
the same way, what may be a useful approach for one individual may not
be successful or helpful to another.
