Interns,i) Descri)tion- The Communications division of Human Rights Watch
(HRW) is currently seeking a graduate or undergraduate student with exerience
and an interest in we! technology and communications to intern in its "ew #ork o$ce%
&nder the suervision of the 'enior We! Communications (anager) the intern will
learn how to create digital communications roducts for the we!site) analy*e data!ase
content) develo a weekly newsletter) and !rainstorm other ways to imrove the
digital resentation of our information% +ther ro,ects can !e assigned as they arise
and match the alicant-s interests and a!ilities% .deally) the student would !e
availa!le to intern two days a week for a minimum of three months%
.nternshis are unaid% 'tudents are often a!le to arrange academic credit) as HRW
internshis often o/er direct exosure to the workings of an international human
rights organi*ation) close suervision !y the HRW sta/) interaction with other &' and
international organi*ations and foreign and domestic government o$cials) and
oortunities to attend lectures) trainings) and secial events relating to human rights%
'tudents should check with their individual academic institutions for re0uirements%
.uali/cations1 .nterns must !e enrolled students for the duration of the internshi%
2luency in a Windows environment is re0uired% HT(3 coding skills) 4hotosho skills)
and familiarity with 5rual or another content management system is highly desira!le%
6licants should have strong analytical skills and !e comforta!le using we!7!ased
technologies) as well as social media (2ace!ook) Twitter) etc%)% 6n attention to detail
and tenacity to ro!lem solve is also highly valued% 3anguage skills are advantageous)
