HUMAN RESOURCES CONSULTANT PERMANENT FULL-TIME TORONTO, ON
The Ontario College of Trades (the College) seeks a focused, professional Human Resources generalist to provide consultation and advisory services to the College with a focus in one of the following functions: recruitment; compensation; training and development; health & safety; ADP payroll; performance management and labour relations. This successful candidate will: Provide coaching, counselling and advice to the Management team, supervisors and individual employees on matters of change management and HR policies and practices. Provide guidance on employee and labour relations issues so they are resolved in a legal and ethical manner and in agreement with the Colleges values and collective agreements. Perform HR functions and provide support on all related programs such as recruitment, policy development, professional development, organizational design, benefits and compensation, payroll, job descriptions, letters of employment and reference checks and letters. Advise Managers and ensure that all Human Resources activities are in line with the collective agreement, the Colleges policies, the guidelines and procedures and all employment legislation. Work with Managers to develop, analyze, and evaluate job descriptions for new positions. Coach Managers on performance evaluation and measurement in accordance with current policies and procedures. Provide back-up ADP payroll. Lead and conduct projects for the development and implementation of the Colleges Human Resources processes, procedures, tools and resources in an HR specialty area (e.g. recruitment and staffing; performance planning and management; health, safety and wellness) along with development and maintenance of all related policy. Chair the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Provide guidance on all health, safety, wellness initiatives and programs such as WSIB, STD, LTD, and sick leave and accommodation. Ensure compliance with employment legislation as required. Qualifications: Completion of a University degree in business or equivalent. Minimum of five years of related management and leadership experience in Human Resources and business management. Human Resources designation (CHRP). Knowledge and experience in all areas of Human Resources management in a unionized environment. Solid knowledge and experience of relevant legislation such as the Human Rights Code; the Employment Standards Act and the ability to advise Managers on their application. Superb consultative and customer service skills to provide client-centred Human Resources services. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal Management and staff and with external stakeholders. Experience in organizational design and working with organizational structures.
