Graphics Typography Words

Part 2: Words
For this part of the assignment you will make words do what they say. Using the letters of a word, youll
communicate its meaning by repositioning or altering the letters. Use black and white only. Follow the
class demonstration for ideas but do not duplicate the words used in the demo or on this page.

Spend time to experiment with creating words in Illustrator. Create as many word designs as you can. At
the end of the class period you should have at least four words on the page. Use the dictionary as a source
of inspiration!

Save the Illustrator file to your folder. Before you print make sure all your work is ! from the edge of the
page! Put your name on the page, print to the B&W laser print and save to turn into the cardboard box
when all 4 parts are complete.

Be creative! The point of this exercise is to realize the creative possibilities in typography and see that that
sometimes the solution is right in the letterforms themselves.
