CIassification CIass Description
CooIing
7he cooIing is weak.
A when lt ls hot outslde, lts coollng capaclty decreases due to the lncrease of the amblent temperature. when
the dust fllter gets blocked or warm outslde alr gets ln, the coollng capaclty wlll decrease. So, make sure to
clean the dust fllter frequently, prevent heat loss by closlng the doors and lnsulate the coollng area by uslng
curtalns, bllnds, shades or wlndow tlntlng.
7he cooIing is good generaIIy. ut, it gets weak when it is considerabIy hot.
A |t occurs when the outdoor unlt ls exposed to dlrect sun llght and heat-up alr ls not ventllated well. So, set
up a sunbllnd over the outdoor unlt and keep stuff away from the unlt to lncrease the ventllatlon. when the
coollng capaclty decreases durlng a heat wave, clean the heat exchanger of the outdoor unlt or spray some
cold water to the heat exchanger to lncrease the coollng capablllty.
7he cooIing is weak. Does it need refrigerant charging!
A |t ls not correct charglng refrlgerant regularly. Lxcept that you have moved ln several tlmes or the
connectlon plpes are broken, the refrlgerant does not run low. So, when refrlgerant ls addltlonally charged,
lt could be costly and cause a product's fallure. when the refrlgerant leaks, all of lt wlll escape ln a short tlme
resultlng ln coollng fallure and no water comlng out of the draln hose. So, lf water comes out from the draln
hose, lt lndlcates the normal operatlon of the product and lt does not need refrlgerant charglng.
It faiIs to do cooIing.
A when the alr condltloner ls set to ventllatlon or the deslred temperature ls set hlgher than the
current temperature, lt falls to do coollng. |n thls case, select Coollng or set the deslred temperature lower.
Leakage
It fIoods the fIoor.
A Place the draln hose properly. when lt ls not placed properly, the draln water would flow back floodlng the
floor. So, stralghten out the draln hose for the water to be dralned well.
Water drips at the drain connection (service vaIve) of the outdoor unit.
A when a glass bottle ls taken out of the refrlgerator, molsture gets condensed on lts surface due to the
temperature dlfferences. The same prlnclple applles to the alr condltloner. when cold refrlgerant goes
through the copper tube, molsture gets condensed on the surface of the tube and the connectlon areas.
To prevent the water condensatlon, the plpes are lnsulated. 8ut, the connectlon areas of the outdoor unlt are
not lnsulated for the purpose of malntenance or repalr, and water gets condensed due to the temperature
dlfferences and drlps down. Generally, lt evaporates rlght away. 8ut, when lt drlps much durlng muggy days,
put a water pan on the floor.
It Ieaks even though a drain pump is used.
A |t occurs when the draln pump ls plugged out or lt ls out of order. Check the power of the draln pump and
the posltlon of the draln hose, and when the pump ls faulty, contact the draln pump manufacturer. Samsung
Llectronlcs do not manufacture draln pumps. So, we are not able to correct the draln pump problems.
SmeIIs
Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it irritates my eyes and gives me a headache.
A There are no components ln the alr condltloner lrrltatlng the eyes and sendlng out chemlcal smells.
8ut, when the alr condltloner ls turned on, other smell sources are sucked lnto the alr condltloner and
get out of lt. So, flnd and root out the smell sources. Generally, lt occurs at a lnterlor renovated place, a
pharmacy, a gasollne handllng place, a tlre shop, a second-hand book shop or an electronlc component
handllng place, when lts chemlcal or musty smells are sucked ln and sent out, lt can be mlsled that the alr
condltloner generates them. So, flnd and root out the problem or refresh the room frequently.

SmeIIs
Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it stinks.
A There are no components ln the alr condltloner sendlng out chemlcal smells. 8ut, when the alr condltloner
ls turned on, other smell sources are sucked lnto the alr condltloner and get out of lt. So, flnd and root out
the smell sources. Generally, when the draln hose ls taken out to the washlng room or there are sources
of smells such as a dlaper bln, a shoe shelf or a socks bln, bad smells generate. Also, lt occurs where glass
cleaners or alr fresheners are used, when they are sucked ln lnteractlng wlth dusts and molstures lnslde, bad
smells generate. These klnds of organlc materlals noxlous to human bodles. So, we recommend agalnst the
use of them.
Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it smeIIs sour.
A when the room ls papered recently, lts paste smells would be sucked lnslde. Also, when the alr condltloner
ls lnstalled ln the study room of young boys lovlng sweat-generatlng actlvltles such as the basketball,
excesslve sweats evaporate and get sucked lnto the alr condltloner resultlng ln bad smells. So, flnd and root
out the problem or refresh the room frequently.
Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it smeIIs musty.
A |t ls due to the lmproper keeplng of the product after lts use. when keeplng the product, dry up the lnslde
wlth the operatlon of ventllatlon to prevent must. when the product ls kept wlthout drylng up the lnslde
wlth ventllatlon, mold would grow lnslde resultlng ln must. So, open the wlndows and swltch on the
ventllatlon functlon to get rld of the saturated smell lnslde.
Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, it sends out bad smeIIs such as staIe smeIIs.
A |t occurs generally when there are pet anlmals ln the house. Thelr smells stay at the same place.
8ut, when the alr condltloner ls turned on, the alr gets clrculated resultlng ln the clrculatlon of the smells.
So, flnd and root out the problem or refresh the room frequently.
It sends out bad smeIIs.
A when the alr fllter ls fllthy, lt could send out bad smells. So, clean the fllter and ventllate the room wlth the
wlndows open whlle operatlng the ventllatlon functlon.
Dperation
It won't start.
A There ls a power fallure or lt ls plugged out. Also, check lf the power dlstrlbutlon panel ls swltched off.
It goes off during operation.
A when the hot alr does not escape properly, lt goes off durlng operatlon. |t occurs when lt does not ventllate
properly because the outdoor unlt ls covered, the back of the outdoor unlt ls blocked by a cardboard or a
plywood panel, and the front of the outdoor unlt ls blocked by the closed wlndow or other obstacles.
Clear the above obstacles from the outdoor unlt.
It generaIIy works properIy. ut, when it's considerabIy hot, it goes off during operation.
A |t occurs when the outdoor unlt ls exposed to dlrect sunllght and the hot alr does not escape properly.
Set up a sun bllnd over the outdoor unlt and clear the nelghborlng obstacles from the outdoor unlt to
provlde good ventllatlon. when lt goes off frequently durlng a heat wave, lt would prevent the turn-off and
lncrease the coollng capaclty cleanlng the outdoor unlt or spraylng some water to the heat exchanger.
7he remote controIIer won't operate.
A when the batterles run out or the transmltter or recelver of the remote controller ls blocked by obstacles,
change the batterles or keep the obstacles away from the controlllng area. Also, the remote controller may
not work under lntenslve llght from a 3-wave length lamp or a neon slgn due to the LM|. |n thls case, take
the remote controller closer to the recelver.

InstaIIation
Who instaIIs the air conditioner! (ReIocation/Re-instaIIation)
A when relocatlng or re-lnstalllng the alr condltloner, make sure to contact Samsung Llectronlcs Servlce
Center or Authorlzed Servlce Agent and have them to do the [ob. (|f not, lt could cause personal ln[ury or
product damage.)
The cost for the relocatlon/re-lnstallatlon of the alr condltloner ls sub[ect to the customer's expense.
There ls a cost table. 8ut, our servlce englneer needs to vlslt to total up the cost correctly.
when you move ln, make sure to contact Samsung Llectronlcs Servlce Center or Authorlzed Servlce Agent ln
advance to streamllne the process.
Is it possibIe to instaII the outdoor unit outside!
A |t ls posslble to lnstall lt at a deslgnated place ln the apartment or on the rooftop nearby.
8ut, lt's lllegal hanglng an angle lron case wlth the outdoor unlt ln lt outslde the apartment.
Also, lt ls lllegal obstructlng passers-by wlth the outdoor unlt lnstalled outslde.
What can be done to instaII the outdoor unit facing the road because it is a commerciaI buiIding!
A The followlng ls an excerpt from 8ulldlng Code golng lnto effect from 1UNL lst 2005. "The exhaust plpe of a
coollng or ventllatlon faclllty lnstalled ln a bulldlng ad[acent to the streets of commerclal or resldentlal areas
shall be lnstalled hlgher than 2 m to prevent the exhaust alr from blowlng dlrectly to passers-by and the
current facllltles shall be corrected by MA 3lst 2005." So, please lnstall lt hlgher than 2 m or not to blow the
hot exhaustlng alr dlrectly to passers-by.
What about instaIIing a windscreen during instaIIation not to bIow hot air directIy to passers-by!
A when the hot alr from the front of the outdoor unlt ls blocked, the product's performance wlll be
affected and lt wlll fall to operate properly. So, keep lt at least 300mm away from lts surroundlng walls and
glve lt good ventllatlon.
