Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your electronic registration.
Instructions and list of required documentation:
1. UiS Cover Sheet signed by the applicant.
2. Updated CV / Resum.
3. Letter of Intention / Statement of Purpose (max. 600 words).
4. Transcript of records from your university education. If possible, the documents should be issued directly by
your university and provided in a sealed envelope. Student copies are not accepted. If the documentation is
officially translated, the original copies should also be provided.
5. Diploma from your university education (Bachelors diploma or other documentation).
6. TOEFL or IELTS test results or other required documentation confirming knowledge of English (if applicable for
your country of origin - check the GSU-list). IELTS test result can be forwarded as a regular copy as the UiS will
verify it online. TOEFL results should be forwarded by the ETS office or be delivered by the candidate. Note that
language test scores are valid for 2 years after the test date. Therefore your test report must be valid on the date

http://www.uis.no/language
7. Copy of the pages of your passport showing your picture, full name, date of birth and nationality.
8. Documentation of change of name, if relevant (e.g. marriage certificate).
9. Final diploma from Secondary School (as specified on the GSU-list).This document does not need to be translated.
10. Documentation of financial support (required by the Norwegian Immigration Authorities/UDI): bank guarantee,
names of sponsors, amount per year, confirmation of scholarship, etc. International students applying for a
student resident permit must document to the Norwegian Immigration Authorities (UDI) that they possess the
necessary funds for their stay in Norway, either by private funding or by scholarships. Applicants must document
approx. NOK 95.000,- per year to cover their living expenses in Norway. Details concerning the deposit transfer
that must be completed in May 2014 will be provided to student admitted. How should financial support be
documented? By a recent bank statement in the applicant's name or a sponsor guarantee letter together with a
sponsor's bank statement.
Please note that applicants are asked to submit true copies, not originals. Students who are admitted to the
University of Stavanger should, however, bring with them all original documents. The University of Stavanger
reserves the right to require students to present all original certificates and diplomas. Students failing to present all
relevant original documents upon request will be denied admission. Any falsification discovered will be reported to the
police and Norwegian Immigration Authorities (UDI). Note that submitted documents will not be returned to the
applicant or issuing institution and will be destroyed by the UiS after 6 months from the delivery deadline.
