2) Job Summary
This position aims to understand health, safety and environment problems / opportunities and clearly,
convince people to change their methods and beliefs through educating them, and then continue
motivating individuals to continue their changed behavior.
Achieve a level of health, safety and environmental management that comply with international and
local standards and legislations.

3) Principal Duties & Responsibilities

1. Promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all Company activities.
2. Review the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policy Statements on an annual basis.
3. Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and make
recommendations on the implementation of these strategies.
4. Ensure that sites’ Policy Statements/Emergency Plans and Risk Assessments are produced and
quality assured.
5. Develop and review health and safety policies, procedures and guidance, and keeping with best
practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
6. Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to
senior managers and all line managers to enable the company to discharge its statutory,
common and moral obligations, keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in HSE
Legislation and Codes of Practice.
7. Provide, or where necessary recommend source to deliver training for staff in relation to Health
and Safety policies, practice and procedures.
8. Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations
are implemented.
9. Maintain accident statistics in all company’s sites , analyze trends and propose and take remedial
action where necessary.
10. Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses be investigated, review report of
findings, add further recommendations to prevent recurrence and participate in the
implementation of approved course of action.
11. Assist and support Plant managers and HSE site engineers in the preparation of risk assessment.
Monitor the availability and appropriateness of risk assessment accomplished.
12. Ensure all First Aiders are appropriately trained; and ,subject to qualification,
provide training to members of staff to enable them to become First Aiders.
13. Develop procedures to ensure that contractors, suppliers, consultants and other irregular
visitors to the company facilities comply with relevant legislation and Company health and safety
policies.
14. Manage and maintain the company control of substances hazardous to health COSHH, ensuring
MSDS are available on all hazardous materials and that effective Risk Assessments are in place to

manage the handling and use of such substances.
15. Ensure the implementation of the Company Fire and Evacuation Procedure and monitor its
effectiveness by undertaking fire evacuation drills on all sites at least twice per year.
16. Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance with environmental
standards and regulations.
17. Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement
programs to deliver these opportunities into implementation.
18. Manage and control the company’s recycling and waste management procedures.
19. Provide technical support on projects, and on building modifications that have environmental
impacts and aspects.
20. Integrate sites’ HSE monthly reports and prepare the consolidated HSE report and prepare, at
minimum, an annual HSE report to the top management and BOD.
21. Assist in Setting up SMART HSE objectives for the company facilities and coordinate preparing
actions plans, monitor the implementation of the action plans and achievement of the
objectives.
22. Direct and supervise subordinates to ensure they fulfill their duties in the health, safety , and
environment function.

4) Other Duties
1. Consult with senior managers in O&M and other line managers and give appropriate advice on
formulating best-practice O&M policies and procedures.
2. Provide secretarial support and health and safety advice to the Main HSE committee in CEGCO
HO, pursue site HSE committee meetings, ensure appropriateness of decisions and action plans.
3. Liaise with the enforcing Health and Safety authorities to ensure company policies, practices and
procedures meet their requirements.

17. Should be familiar with applicable Jordanian Health, Safety and
Environmental legislations.
18. Ability to clearly present ideas and approach in front of
employees and top management.
19. Ability to develop, review, and approve HSE policies and
procedures
20. Courage to confront employees and direct, advice, or discipline
to enforce HSE policies and procedures
21. Ability and willing to separate personal relations from career
duties.
22. Good background in O&M and site activities.
