BAR CODING OF BOOKLETS

RE:

" ,,

Greetings!

\for the 2014 Bar Examinations and the succeeding Bar Examinations, the "Name
Card" utilized in the previous Bar Examinations, which bar examinees fill-up and insert
in an envelope pasted on the examination booklet, has been replaced by a "Bar Code"
system. The shift was made in order to modernize the conduct of the Bar Examinations
and to make the process of checking, encoding, and decoding the examination booklets
faster and more secure.
Accordingly, the following instructions relative to the new "Bar Code" system
must be observed:
-

a.

The headwatcher shall call the name of the bar examinee, one by one
according to the seating arrangement in the Seat Pl~n, to distribute the
examination notebook.

. b. The bar examinee, upon being called, shall approach the headwatcher to
re.ceive the examination notebook and at the same time to check if the
following information, which appears in one of the bar codes, are correct:
1. The name of the bar examinee;
2. The. name of the University of the College of Law where the bar
examinee graduated; and
3. The room and building assignment of the bar examinee.

c. If there are any correction/s, the bar examinee shall request the headwatcher to
make the necessary amendment/s.
d. The headwatcher shall make the necessary correction/s, if there is/are any, on
the Seat Plan. Likewise, the headwatcher shall make a separate report to be
submitted later to the bar personnel assigned to collect the same.
e. The headwatcher, after such correction/s, if there is/are any, and before
handing the examination notebook to the bar examinee, shall detach the bar
code, which contains the name of the bar examinee, the University of the
College of Law where the bar examinee graduated, and the examinee's room
and building assignment, from the examination notebook and shall stick it on
the box with the corresponding number as appearing in the list of examinees.
Take note that in every examination notebook you will find a total of three (3) bar
codes; two (2) bar codes stickered on the examination notebook and one (1) attached to
the notebook which contains the name of the bar examinee, the University of the College
of Law where the bar examinee graduated, and the examinee's room and building
assignment. The bar code which contains the name and the University of the College of
Law where the bar examinee graduated will be detached and placed on the Seat Plan
before the examination notebook is handed to the bar examinee.
Also, by reason of the "Bar Code" system, only one examination notebook shall
be used by every bar examinee per bar subject. If there are valid reasons which warrant
the change of your examination notebook, the new notebook will be stapled together with
the original examination notebook because the bar code cannot be physically transferred
to the new examination notebook.
Although the bar code is scratchproof, be careful not to write on, stain, or fold the
bar code because this may render the bar code unreadable by the machine.
Good luck to all!
