Websites and WebQuests using Wikispaces
Essential Questions:
How can classroom websites be beneficial to teachers, students, and the community?
How can webquests be used in the classroom to differentiate instruction and increase student
engagement?
ISTE Nets for Teachers:
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to
facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-toface and virtual environments

Objectives:
Teachers will explore Wikispaces to gain knowledge and understanding. Teachers will
incorporate knowledge and understanding into their classroom setting and effectively use it to
implement with students.
Workshop Procedures:
Opening
1. Review Agenda and answer any initial questions. Discuss the need to incorporate more Web
2.0 tools in our school.
2. Introduce workshop website and resources.
3. Review Teacher and Student NETS Standards.

Wikispaces
1. Introduce Wikispaces with the Creative Commons video.
2. Discuss the many ways Wikispaces cane be implemented in the classroom.
3. Create a Wikispaces account together.
Websites
1. Discuss why class websites are important.
2. Show examples of class websites made using Wikispaces.
3. Create a class webpage template together.
4. Discuss ideas of how to manage and update classroom websites.
Webquest
1. Introduce Webquests and how they can be used for differentiation, collaboration, and
student engagement.
2. Discuss the structure of a webquest and the required components.
3. Show examples of webquests using Wikispaces.
4. Demonstrate how easy it is to create webquests using Wikispaces.
5. Create a Webquest template together.
6. Discuss how to implement into the classroom.
Summarize:
Show on workshop website where resources for these sites are located.
Work Period:
Participants will chose to finish creating thier class website or a WebQuest as started in the
workshop.
Closing:
Participates can share ideas and ask questions for further understanding.
Ticket out the door- Participants will complete the workshop evaluation survey.
Follow-up Observations:
Periodically presenter will follow-up with participants to address any additional needs. Based on
the survey given at the end of the workshop, further help will be given as needed.
