c. Position Summary:
Provide Islamic religious guidance, practices, and leadership to the Muslim
community in. according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and
the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him);
establish and promote educational and extracurricular programs for adults
and youth; lead the establishment of a unified Muslim community welcoming
to all Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures; engage with the
larger community to promote friendship and understanding between
Muslims and non-Muslims in the community.

e. Major Duties

Dedicate majority of time in community/masjid

Lead prayers

Teach (fiqh, quran, dawah)

Inter faith / public organization (schools, police, hospitals etc)

Youth programs

Womens/Sisters programs

Counselling

Nikah

Janaza

Imam should be ambitious to take community to next level by constantly

looking at ways the masjid (and islam as a whole) can appeal to all
members of the community - both muslims and non-muslims.

Research orientated to continuously look up fiqh and contemporary

issues

e. Salary:
No Fixed Salary, Imam receive Zakat from people of the community.

2. Job Specification
a. Qualifications/Experience:

Solid knowledge of Islamic Shariah, Quran/hadith (to tafsir level)

Properly rehearsed in Fiqah (with good experience with contemporary

issues that relate to present day UK society)

Ability to give motivational Khutbas

Teaching

More then basic understanding in Christianity and Judaisim and other

modern religions
b. Skills:
a. Good or excellent oratory skills with experience of tasks such as
khutbas, lectures, public speaking events, conferences etc
b. Ability to speak to press if requested
c. Ability to Raise Funds
c. Responsibilities:
o Lead the daily prayers at the Mosque.
o Give the Khutbah and lead prayer for Jumuah.

o Lead the Taraweeh Prayer in Ramadan.

o Lead Eid Prayers and deliver Khutbahs.
o Provide funeral services and guidance.
o Conduct matrimonial services.
o Offer Islamic family and youth counseling and guidance as needed.
o Provide Quran and Hadith studies, Seerah and Fiqh lessons, and
other Islamic topics to increase knowledge and provide for
spiritual growth of community members
o Serve as an advisor to the weekend school.
o Participate in the community activities that further good interfaith
and public relations for Islam and Muslims.
o Develop and implement educational program for new Muslims.
o Develop and implement educational and extracurricular programs
for the youth.
o Work with Board of Trustees on annual fundraising programs for
the community as needed.
o Plan Imams activities and provide to the Chairman of the Board of
Trustees.
o Provide consultation to the Board of Trustees on religious matters,
community issues, and Mosque activities as requested.
