Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:14-15: For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded

this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live
might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

Reasons to Keep the Lord's Day Holy #4. The Sabbath existed before the 10
Commandments were Given, Part 2. From the instructions that were given to Israel
concerning the collection of the manna (before the 10 Commandments were given at Sinai)
it is clear there was already a requirement for the people to keep the sabbath holy. "Moses
said, Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field.
'Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, there will be none.'"

God commands nothing but what is beneficial. O Israel, what does the Lord require of you,
but to fear the Lord your God, and to keep His statutes, which I command you this day, for
your good? To obey God, is not so much our duty as our privilege. Thomas Watson

After you have prayed, observe what God does towards you; especially how He guides
your feet and heart after prayer; there is much in that. That which was the spirit of
supplication in a man when he prayed, rests upon him as the spirit of obedience in his
course. Thomas Goodwin
