Assignment Assessment
1. The assignment carries a weight of 20%.
2. The purpose of this assignment is to reinforce the class learning and
consolidate your course learning.
3. The assignment, depending on the topic assigned, assesses your learning
with respect to learning outcomes1, 2 and 3 stated in the course outline.
4. The following assessment criteria will be used in assessing your learning as
seen from your response
Integration of learning : integration here means how you are able to relate
the previous learning with current learning e.g. the application of
concepts learnt in IGB course or ME course to develop insights into
specific topics of the OSD course. It also refers to your ability to relate
and build on your learning from the previous sessions of the same course
to consolidate your course learning. Integration brings completeness to
learning.
Thus two levels of integration are desired (i) integration with 1st term
courses and (ii) integration of course learning
Conceptual learning : this refers to the correct explanation of concepts
learnt in a particular session.
Application of concepts : whether the concepts are applied, and if so, is
the application relevant and correct.
Value addition : What is the element of discretionary performance seen
in carrying out the assignment- is new data brought in, is a different
application searched for, any further examples to augment or simplify
learning?
Writing : how the written matter is expressed as a coherent whole with
appropriate sequencing of thoughts, well organised paragraphs to create a
smooth reading experience, and clear message.
