Anuban Weekly Outline

This week we are learning:

The 5 Senses and Christmas

Circle Time Review

In circle time we have been opening an
advent calendar each day to help the
students with their dates and to prepare
Christmas vocabulary. We will continue to
do this every day as the children enjoy it and
it teaches them a lot of new words.
We will continue to review the 5 senses,
especially taste, as it links into the next
subject. I will also reinforce the other senses
using games like Teacher Says where the
students have to use them implicitly.

Activity Time
Finishing the 5 senses workbook we did not have time to finish all of this since the last few
weeks were shortened by Father's Day and Constitution Day holidays.
Sing Christmas songs: Jingle bells, We wish you a merry Christmas etc.
Making Christmas snowflakes to decorate the classroom.
Watch The Snowman short film and explain what we see.
Making Christmas cards, decorating, and writing them.
Making Christmas trees to hang in the classroom.
Play Christmas games inc. pass the parcel, charades etc.
Making Santa faces with balloons and cotton wool.
In preparing for Christmas, we will continue to use our five senses to engage
with the environment around us and discuss what we see around the school and
the town as Christmas approaches. The students can also try to interpret the
Christmas environment, which is so different from their home one, as they see it
in videos and cartoons.

Phonics
In Phonics this week we are going to
review mp words from the previous
week. I will check to make sure the
pronunciation is correct and students
understand the vocabulary for this
blend. Then we are going to look at
two new blends: sk (desk, tusk) and lt
(belt, melt, kilt, quilt). We will play
games to practice the sounds and
words and then we will use the reader
to point and repeat and also to
practice reading the sentences and
spelling keys words. We will then
complete the exercises in the Pelangi
3 Activity booklet for these new
blends.
