Experience SAP HANA with

Accenture and SAP

Insights to Action Faster than Ever Before

In a world where companies are compiling and

relying on more transactional and analytical
data than ever before, SAPs HANA platform revs
up the speed with which they can understand
that data. But before companies can get better
insight into their data, they need better insight
into HANA. Working in conjunction with SAP,
Accenture is offering the opportunity to pilot
HANA live and learn more.

Our HANA pilot program is one of the newest

efforts at the centers. Accenture specialists
have been working with HANA since early in
2011, before its original release, to understand
this cutting-edge platform and how it can help
companies get the most out of their data.
Our HANA pilot program lets you validate the
value proposition of HANA before making a
significant investment.

Accenture has a long-time partnership with SAP,

a relationship that allows each entity to benefit
from the insights and experience of the other.
This relationship comes to life in the Accenture
Innovation Centers for SAP where Accenture
and SAP specialists work side by side building
the next generation of advanced analytics,
mobility and cloud solutions integrated within
SAP core technologies.

HANA benefits can include:

Immediate access to relevant information
Less reliance on IT for analysis
Better decisions more quickly
Flexible, cost-effective approach
Real-time access to large data volumes
R
 educed hardware and maintenance costs
associated with multiple data warehouses

By combining SAPs most advanced technologies

with Accentures industry and functional knowhow, the centers have become a learning, testing
and development factory where solution architects,
technologists and developers work with you to
bring breakthrough innovations to life, validate
them, and engineer them for accelerated speed
to value.

Getting a Head Start with HANA

Pilot Project Requirements

By taking advantage of the HANA pilot,

companies have a simple and reliable method
for determining HANAs efficacy for their
company, a way to derive performance
metrics on actual data and to learn more
about how they can benefit from its highspeed analytics. Taking advantage of one
of Accentures highly flexible options for a
pilot will help companies get a sense of
how HANA handles complex queries on
specific corporate information.

Companies can take advantage of

multiple HANA configurations for their
pilot project. A basic pilot delivers a Data
Model (views), Explorer Information Space,
and an Evaluation Document, but companies
can also choose more extensive scenarios
that include a wider range of reports.
Accenture will also work with you to
develop a custom scenario to fit your
specific business needs.

Pilot scenarios include:

HR Resourcing
Spend Analytics
Fraud Detection
Demand Forecasting Analytics
Inventory Management
Demand Planning
Pricing and Promotions
Smart Grid Analytics

Globally, more than 25 companies have

already started pilot projects working with
Accenture and SAP. By embarking on a
pilot project, companies can take advantage
of the latest updated technologies to
determine feasibility within their own
specific application needs. They can see
firsthand how HANA works, how fast HANA
performs, and what kind of insight they can
get from their current data. They can do so
without the hassle of setting up a state-ofthe-art development, test, and production
environment, and instead establish their
pilot results at the Accenture Innovation
Centers for SAP.

The pilot projects use all the latest

software components, including:
SAP HANA 1.0 SP3
SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0
SAP BusinessObjects Explorer 4.0
SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 4.0
SAP Data Services 4.0
S
AP ECC (for medium and large
scenarios only)
SAP SLT

Accenture runs the pilot projects onsite in

one of its Innovation Centers. There are
some requirements to get started:
Hardware

and software licenses must be

up to date
Business logic in the system should be
limited (without complex SQL and PSQL
statements)
Data must be in a format suitable for
the demonstration, with personally
identifiable data deleted/masked

Companies can choose to pilot HANA as a

data warehouse or an SAP NetWeaver
Business Warehouse running on HANA.
Running BW on HANA lets companies
compare the performance benefits to their
existing investment. Accenture offers
multiple platforms for SAP HANA pilot
projects, both in terms of hardware and
software.

Because of time limitations, Accenture is

unable to accommodate data enrichment,
data cleaning, and data anomalies for pilots.

What SAP HANA Brings

Data sources are booming more than ever before.
Historical data holds the key to customer behavior
over time. The ability to capture operational data
as it happens, as well as incorporate analytical
data from elsewhere in the organization, represents
a huge leap forward for companies who need
to spot trends, react quickly, and boost their
competitive advantage.
However, the volume of the data frequently
overwhelms traditional disk-based systems.
Business analysts lose time while they translate
operational data into analytical models.

Even more challenging, companies want the

highest level of flexibility in order to highlight
previously unidentified patterns.
SAP HANA overcomes the operational time
lag by running its queries in-memory. It
delivers unprecedented speed and accuracy
from complex data queries. It allows companies
to run multiple queries in parallel, without
performance degradation. It also enables business
analysts to develop intricate, predictive models
for any scenario your business faces.
