Time flies like a blink of an eye.

5 days of medical missionary trip in
Cambodia has come to an end. I can still
recall the time when Eric invited me to
join this meaningful event, and it took
me no time to accept it.

Songke Chrum

I was both excited and nervous

to be part of this team since it was the
first time Hong Kong Methodist Church
organizes such an event. I even took
holiday before the trip in order to brush
up my knowledge.

Residents of the village we served

are mainly farmers of low educational
level. They live a simple life. What they
need is not just our medications, but
education. They drink contaminated
water, they have poor understanding of
the importance of hygiene, they dont
usually brush their teeth etc. We took
some time holding health talks on these
issues and gave them toothbrush and
toothpaste, so that they could have
some hands on experience.

Apart from medical knowledge,

it is equally important to offer spiritual
support. Cambodians have undergone
a harsh period of time during the late
1970s. Many of them has gone through
a period of time which they would
hope to forget. This makes them more
introverted and unwilling to share.
Surprisingly, whenever we asked if they
need a prayer, most of them said yes and
look lifted afterwards. Seems that we
have always been over-estimating what
we can do but forgot that most of the
support they need actually came from
God indeed.
