BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
The first author is Paule Mc Fronda Caspillo. He was born on October 09,
1998 at Brgy. Matingkis Science City of Muoz, Nueva Ecija. He is now 16 years of age.
He lives at Purok 1 Brgy. Matingkis Science City of Muoz, Nueva Ecija. He completed his
elementary education in Muoz Central School he studied at Central Luzon State University
Laboratory High School-Palusapis.
He is the youngest son in the seven siblings of Mr. Narciso Caspillo Sr. and
Evangeline Caspillo, named Nerissa, Joe Ann, Narciso Jr., Aurea, Marjorie and Vandame
Caspillo
He believed in saying Trust is like a paper once its crumpled it cant be
perfect

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
The second author is Mark Anthony Claveria Lagasca. He was born on
August 31, 1998 at Bry. Palusapis Science city of Muoz Nuva Ecija, brought happiness to
the blissful marriage life of Hermogenes and Marieta Lagasca as their first child screamed
his first cry on earth. The infant was named Mark Anthony.
He completed his elementary education in Palusapis Elementary School in
2011. He studied at University Laboratory High School-Palusapis
He believed in saying Time is Gold

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
The third author is Coleen Salvador Madarang. She was born on March 05,
1998 at Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. She is now 16 years old of age. She lives at Brgy.
Palusapis Science City of Muoz, Nueva Ecija. She completed her elementary education in
Muoz United Methodist Church Leearning Center. She studied at Central Luzon State
University Laboratory High School-Palusapis.
She was the second in the siblings of Mr. Rocky Madarang and Norvina
Madarang, named Mary Ann, Kyle Cedrick Madarang.
She believed in saying You never know how strong you are, until being
strong is the only one choice you have.

ABSTRACT
THE EFFECT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND ACADEMIC
PERFORMANCES IN ENGLISH IV OF SENIOR STUDENTS AT CLSU
LABORATORY HIGH SCHOOL-PINILI SCHOOL YEAR 2014-2015, prepared and
submitted by CASPILLO, PAULE MC F., LAGASCA, MARK ANTHONY C.,
MADARANG, COLEEN S., to the faculty of ULHS-Palusapis, Science City of Muoz,
Nueva Ecija, Philippines.

The study was conducted to determine the students emotional intelligence. The
study specifically aimed to know the socio-demographic characteristics of the senior
students in terms of gender, age, and size of the family to determine the academic
performance profile in English of the senior students of University Science High School
S.Y. 2014-2015, identify the emotional intelligence profile of the senior students of
University Laboratory High School-Pinili and to find out the relationship between the
emotional intelligence and academic performance of the senior students in English IV
University Laboratory High School-Pinili.
Researchers utilized a questionnaire which consists of socio-demographic
characteristics and the emotional intelligence questionnaire. Data were analyzed with
descriptive statistics to answer the frequency, percentages means and correlation analysis
SPSS version 17.
The results of the study revealed that the majority of the students are female, with 16
years old and belonging in a small family.

The grade of the senior students in English had a majority of an average academic
performance, followed by low academic performance and high academic performance.
The three dimension of the emotional intelligence showed that the factor 1, attention to
feelings has an overall mean of 3.9 which means that the respondents are moderately agree,
the second factor is clarity to feelings that has overall mean of 3.7 which means they are
moderately agree and the last factor is mood repair with an overall mean of 3.7 which means
the senior students are moderately agree. All of the emotional intelligence profile of the
respondents is average emotional intelligence.
The correlation analysis revealed that there was no relationship between the
emotional intelligence and the academic performance of the senior students in English.
