Part-A

1. Write the classification of fuels.

Solid fuel, Liquid fuel, Gaseous fuel
2. Define Pollution.
The mixing of unwanted and undesirable substances into our surroundings that cause
undesirable effects on both living and non living things is known as pollution.
3. Define Soak.
Soaking is a process to absorb fuel vapours or liquids through pores or interstices.
4. What is canister?
A canister structure for absorbing fuel vapor in the fuel tank and supplying the fuel vapor into
the engine together with purge air is provided.
5. What is Blue white smoke?
Blue smoke is usually transmission fluid due to a leaking modulator valve in the older auto
transmission. White smoke is due to water getting in to a cylinder from a bad gasket, cracked
block or a cracked head.

6. What is diesel odour?

Ever since the first diesel engine was developed, the odor from its exhaust has been recognized
as undesirable. Determination of the cause of this odor has been difficult because of the
complexity of the heterogeneous combustion process and the lack of chemical instruments
available.
7. What is vent valve?
A venting valve is normally used on a system where gases build up. Any gas, even steam, can
cause problems for a system if the pressure isn't released from time to time.

8. Explain about district tube.

Its a tube used to connect the absorption of fuel emission evaporative gases back to the
cylinder.
9. What do you about Euro driving cycle?
The New European Driving Cycle is a driving cycle designed to assess the emission levels of car
engines and fuel economy in passenger cars (excluding light trucks and commercial vehicles).
10. What are the types of Crank Case Ventilation?
1) Positive crankcase ventilation
2) Negative crankcase ventilation
