Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

Point by Point Reply to Majlis-ul-Ulma by Moulana Abdun Nabi Hamidi (Sunni Ulema Council
Transvaal)

FIRST OBJECTION
Meelad celebration is declared as Haraam and an evil Bidat because of the following reasons:
The compulsory nature assigned to Meelad by its votaries.
It was completely unknown to the Messenger of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala / Sallal Laahu Ta'ala
Alayhi Wa Sallam, hisnoble Sahabah and the great Jurists and Ulema of Islam (pg.12).

OUR ANSWER
No Sunni Muslim believes that Meelad celebration is compulsory. We believe that the Meelad
celebration is Mustahab (recommended). Alamma Ismail Haqi (radi Allahu anhu) quotes in Tafseer
Ruhul Bayaan: Imam Jalaaluddin Suyuti has said that it is Mustahab for us to celebrate Meelad of
the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as to thank Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala. (Ruhul
Bayaan, Vol. 9,pg. 56). Majlisul Ulema claims that Meelad is not even Mustahab (pg. 12).
I could present many facts to prove that the Meelad celebration is Mustahab, but would prefer to
leave you, the reader, with the view and belief of the great Imam Suyuti Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh.
Let us see what Fatwa Majlisul Ulema will give on Imam Jalaaluddin Suyuti Rahmatullahi Ta'ala
Alayh!

CHALLENGE
If Majlisul Ulema is honest in their claim that the Ahlus Sunnah Wa Jamaah believe that Meelad
celebration is necessary, then they must show us the proof of who wrote that?

It is true that in the time of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the period of the Sahabah
and in the period of the Tabiin, Meelad was not celebrated as it is done in the present form. But
the Noble Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), Sahabah or Tabiin did not prohibit it as well. This
is an accepted principle of Shariah that the performance of something is proof of Jawaaz
(permissibility), and not doing it is NOT the proof of its prohibition. The same principle has been
explained by Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi in Nashrut-Teeb, pg.87, published by World Islamic
Publishers, Delhi. Your claim that the Sahaba did not celebrate Meelad is destroyed by your own
leader!

In fact, this style of argument is childish and not academic. Please try to find some other

proofs so that you may be heard!

The Noble Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the Sahabah and the Tabiin did not have Ijtima,
Ghust, forty days or Shab Ghuzari. The present form of Tableegh activities are completely
unlinked with Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the Sahabah, Tabiin and Jurist Imams (radi
Allahu anhum). Following the same principles, why dont you also regard these Tableegh related
activities as Haraam? I suppose that you have taken Shariah as your slave-girl, therefore, Shariah
must give ruling according to your desire. Allah forbid!

SECOND OBJECTION
The Meelad celebration is declared as Haraam and an evil Bidat by Majlisul Ulama due to the
following reasons:1) The practice of Qiyaam or standing in reverence when the Salaami or Salwaat is recited.
2) The votaries of Meelad believe that it is Fardh (compulsory) to make Qiyaam (standing) during
these Meelad functions.
3) They proceed further to commit an act of extreme gravity by branding as Kaafir the one who
does not make this Qiyaam in the Meelad celebration.
4) Kitaabs written by the votaries of Moulood ambiguously state that the one who does not make
Qiyaam (standing) is a Kaafir.
5) Hazrat Anas (radi Allahu anhu) narrates the following Hadith: There was none whom the Sahabah
loved as much as Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). When they saw Rasoolullah (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam), they did not stand because they knew that he detested this (practice of
standing).(Tirmizi ; Musnad Ahmed) (pg. 12) In the commentary of this Hadith, Majlisul Ulama
writes that the Sahabah did not stand in respect of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and
that Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) disliked such a practice.(pg. 13)
6) Majlisul Ulama write: Why don't you people stand when Rasoolullahs (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) name is mentioned in Tashahud, lectures, reciting of the Kalima, Khutba, etc.? Why you
do not stand when the Quraan is recited or when Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala's name is mentioned? (I
have summarised this question) (pg. 13 -14).
7) Others again stand because of a reason which is much more dangerous than the reason for which
the majority of people stand. Some cherish the believe that the Soul of our Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) presents itself at these sessions of Meelad, hence it is necessary to stand in respect. This
is a fallacious and a highly misleading belief. This belief leads to Shirk or association with Allah Ta'ala
in an attribute which is exclusive in Divinity. Let us assume that A holds a Meelad function in his
home, B does the same in his home, C also has a Meelaad celebration and D does likewise also.
Meelaad functions are taking place in various masaajids all over the world. Now let us assume that
these functions happen to take place at the same time and the Salaami is being recited at these
various venues at once at the same time. A is under the impression that Rasoolullah's (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) Soul is present at his function. B, C, D and the people in the various masaajid all
over the world are under the same impression. We have assumed that the Salaami is being recited

at the same time in the various places, hence it will follow that our Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) is present at the place of A, B, C, D, etc. at one and the same time.In other words, this
belief means that our Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is present here, there and everywhere at
one at the same time. This is bestowing the Divine Attribute of Omnipresence upon our Nabi (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam). Thus, this belief assigns to our Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) Divinity by
way of according Omnipresence to our Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). This is in reality the
commission of Shirk which is a capital crime - a crime most heinous in the Eyes of Allah Subhaanahu
Wa Ta'ala (pg. 15)[/list]

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

OUR ANSWER
1) The Peer-o-Murshid (Spiritual leader) of the Ulema-e-Deoband, Hazrat Haji Imdadullah Muhaajir
Makki (radi Allahu anhu) writes: The way of life of this Faqeer (Muhaajir Makki) is that I participate
in the assembly of Moulood, and I celebrate this function every year and regard this assembly as a
source for blessings and I find enjoyment in Qiyaam (standing). (Faisala HaftMas'ala, pg. 5, printed by

Madani Qutub Khana, Multan, Pakistan).

The following issues are proven from the above quotation of Hazrat Haji Imdadullah (radi Allahu
anhu):
A - The Peer-o-Murshid says that Qiyaam is Jaiz (permissible) and that he finds enjoyment
in it. The Mureeds say that it is Haraam and evil Bidat. I am sure that both cannot be
correct. If the Mureeds are correct then it would mean that the Murshid has commited an
act which is Haraam and evil Bidat. But, if the Murshid is correct, then the Mureeds have
given a wrong Fatwa on the Murshid for committing a Haraam and an evil Bidat. Is this the
Adab (respect) shown by the Ulema-e-Deoband for their spiritual leader? The Majisul Ulama
do not feel ashamed in addressing themselves as spiritual students of such a person, on one
hand, yet this noble personality practiced something which they condemned as
unacceptable.
B - Committing Haraam makes a person a sinner and to announce the sin makes a person a
Fasiq-e-Mo'lin (an open sinner). It is Haraam to make Bai't (allegiance) on the hand of a
Fasiq-e-Mo'lin.The spiritual Silsila (order) of the Majlisul Ulama becomes munqa-te
(inconsistent) if their Murshid committed a Haraam act (which is Qiyaam). Why then do
their Mashaaikh deceive people by making them their Mureeds, since they have no
consistent spiritual order.

2) This is another false and baseless accusation. No one has ever said that the act of Qiyaam in
Meelaad functions is Fardh.Aa'la Hazrat, Imam Ahle Sunnat, Moulana Ahmed Raza Khan (radi Allahu
anhu) writes: Qiyaam is consistently practiced by famous Imams. None of them refuted or denied
this. Therefore, it is Mustahab (recommended). (Iqaamatul Qiyaamah, pg. 19, Noori Qutub Khana).
Our Challange
You are requested to quote from an authentic source to prove that we have declared Qiyaam in
Salaato-Salaam as Fardh.
APPEAL
We appeal to the public who follow the Ulema-e-Deoband that they should ask them proof for their
claims. If they cannot present a proof, which I am certain that will be unable to, then at least tell
them to please stop lying and to stop causing Fitna.

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

OUR ANSWER
3) Another baseless accusation and an open lie. We have never ever branded anyone as Kaafir just
because he does not participate in the act of Qiyaam (standing). Qiyaam is only regarded as
Mustahab according to us. One who leaves a Mustahab act is not even a sinner, let alone becoming a
Kaafir. Those who stop the people from taking part from Qiyaam or Meelaad are absolutely wrong
because they are stopping people from taking part in a Mustahab act.
Aa'la Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) or any other Ulema-e-Ahle Sunat have given the Fatwa of Kufr only
against those people who were Mirzai or those who insulted Almighty Allah and His Rasool (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam). Even till today, their blasphemous statements are being published in their
books.
Now read carefully what Moulana Murtuza Hassen Naazim-e Taaleemat-e Darul Uloom Deoband
has to say in this regard: Khan Bereilvi says that some Ulema of Deoband do not accept
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) as Khaatamun Nabiyyeen, regard the knowledge of
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) equal to animals and the insane, and regard Shaytaan as

more knowledgeable than Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), therefore, they are Kaafirs. All
the Ulema of Deoband say that this ruling of Khan Saheb is correct. Whoever makes this type of
statement is a Kaafir Murtad (apostate) and cursed one. Bring your Fatwa. We will endorse it as
well. One who does not regard these type of Murtads (apostates) as Kaafir, he is also Kaafir. These
beliefs are indeed blasphemous. ( Ashaddul Azaab, pg.11).
If, according to Khan Saheb, some Ulema of Deoband were really like that as he thought, than it
was Fardh (compulsory) on Khan Saheb to declare them as Kaafirs. If he did not call them Kaafirs,
then he himself would have become Kaafir. (Ashaddul Azaab, Moulana Murtaza Hassen Dar Banghi, pg.
12).

The following issues are proven from the above two statements from Ashaddul Azaab:A. Aa'la Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) did not regard anyone as Kaafir because of not
participating in Meelaad or Qiyaam.
B. Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) only regarded those people as Kaafirs who insulted
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
C. The principles upon whom the Fatwas of Kufr were given are accepted between Deobandi
and Sunni Ulema.
D. Aa'la Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) was compelled by the Shariah to issue Fatwas of Kufr
upon those people, otherwise he himself would have become Kaafir.
E. Aa'la Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) had given the Fatwa of Kufr on only few people - those
who wrote blasphemous statements, and those who after understanding fully these
statements, regarded them as accurate and in the spirit of Islam and Shariah.

CHALLENGE
We challenge Majlisul Ulema and all their affiliates to prove that which recognised Sunni Aalim has
written that those who do not participate in Qiyaam are Kaafirs. If they can prove their claims, I
will leave Sunnism to join them.
APPEAL
I appeal to the Tableegi Jamaat: Obtain the proof from your Ulema, because if you are able to
obtain this proof from your Ulema, you will win me over in your mission. Lots of others will come
with me aswell and your job will become easier as well as you have been trained to convert people

from Islam into the fold of Tableegism. We are prepared to come and join you just with one
condition - just obtain the proof for us. If you are unable to do so, then do the real Tableegh and
tell your Ulama, Shame on you. What do you want to achieve through lying? The people are not
fools out there. Please stop lying!

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

OUR ANSWER
4) This is another lie. If Kitaabs are written by the Meelaad supporters whereby it is stated that
those who do not make Qiyaam are Kaafirs, why then did you not give the name of at least one
Kitaab? Readers, please phone and write to Majlisul Ulama and the Y.M.M.A. and demand from them
at least one of the names amongst of those Kitaabs.
5) Moulana Mohammed Zakaria, the author of Tableeghi Nisaab, explains the Hadith of Hazrat
Anas (radi Allahu anhu) in Sharah Shamaile Tirmizi: This Hadith indicates towards the high
degree of humbleness of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi

wasallam) did not like (that people should stand for him), although he is possessor of high glory and
is Master of both the worlds. Therefore, the Sahabah sometimes did not stand due to the love
because Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) disliked it as it is the requirement of this
narration (of Hazrat Anas) and sometimes they used to stand due to the demand of love.
It is stated in Abu Dawood that, Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) used to talk to us in
the masjid. When Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) used to stand, we used to stand up and
we used to remain standing till Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) used to get into the
home. (Sharah Shamaaile Tirmizi,pg. 342, Maktaba Rahmania , Lahore).
Moulana Zakaria explains the reason for not standing, Qazi Ayaz (radi Allahu anhu) says that,
Qiyaam is prohibited whereby somebody well known is sitting and rest of the people are standing.
Therefore, in the Hadith of prohibition (from Qiyaam), it is also said, do not stand as the Ajmees
(non- Arabs) stand for their chiefs. (Sharah Shamaaile Tirmizi,pg. 342)
Moulana Zakaria writes further: Imam Nowvi Rahmatullahi Ta'ala Alayh says that it is Mustahab to
stand for Ulema, respectful and noble people. (Sharah Shamaaile Tirmizi,pg.342).
Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi has written a long story about Moulana Qassim Nanotwi and Hakim Abdus
Salaam. Hakim Abdus Salaam had a desire to meet Moulana Nanotwi who was at the time sitting
with many people. When Hakim Abdus Salaam arrived, everybody stood up to pay respect to
him. (Arwahe Salaasa, pg. 230,story number 215,Islami Academy, Lahore.)
The narration of Abu Dawood proves that the Sahabah used to stand for Rasoolullah (sallal laahu
alaihi wasallam) and the reason for prohibition was also dealt with. Imam Nowvi (radi Allahu anhu)
said: It is Mustahab to stand for Ulemaand Moulana Nanotwi and all his fellows stood up to pay
respect for Hakim Abdus Salaam.
I suppose that Majlisul Ulamaare quick to condemn others and are lazy to study the literature of
their own elders. Do we have to teach the Majlisul Ulama about their household matters also!
6) This objection is not worth any consideration. If Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala gives Tawfeeq to
someone that every Zikr he recites or listens to from the beginning to the end in a standing
position, it is a good practice and we will not stop him. We will not tell him to only stand at the
time that the Salaami is recited and to remain seated for the other Ibaadah . It is difficult for
people to stand in a Meelad assembly from the beginning to the very end, so they stand up when the
birth of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is being mentioned or when the Salaami is read.
Why did the Ulema of Deoband open a Darul Uloom in Deoband and not in Makkah? Why do South
African Tableeghis have Ijtijma during the Easter holidays and not in the December holidays? Why
did Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi write Nashruteeb in the Zikr of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi

wasallam) and not write a separate book about the Zikr of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala only? Can
someone prove Hurmat (prohibition) with these types of silly arguments?

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

OUR ANSWER
7) Majlisul Ulema's spiritual guide, Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, writes: Mohammed Al Hazrami
Majzoob was a possessor of amazing qualities and miracles. Once, he performed Jummah and gave
Khutbah in 30 cities at the same time. He could be present in many cities in the same
night. (Jamalul Auliya, pg. 188,Maktaba Islamia, Lahore).
Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi believed and trusted this story, therefore, he has included it in his book,
Jamalul Auliya. The presence of Mohammed Al Hazrami in many places was accomplished with his
physical body. The physical world is a restricted place. Mohammed Al Hazrami was the servant of
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He indeed achieved this station because of Rasoolullah
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). One can now imagine the powers and the station of the mubarak

(blessed) Soul of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who is the Master and Chief of all the
Prophets Alayhimus Salaam. So the possibility of his soul being present in many places should not
even be an issue of debate amongst Muslims.
If it was Shirk to believe that one person can be present in many places, then according to your own
Fatwas, your elder, Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, is a Mushrik because he believed in the correctness of
the story of Mohammed Al Hazrami. Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi mentioned the story in his book and
did not refute it. This proves that this story is authentic according to him and correct in his view.
Moulana Qassim Nanotwi explains the meaning of this verse An Nabi Yu Aula Bil Mumenina Min
Anfosihim .... by saying:Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has such nearness with his
Ummah that even their souls do not have, because in this verse the word Aula is in the
meaning of Aqrab (nearest)." (Tahzeerun Naas, pg.14, Darul Ishaat, Karachi).
According to the explanation of Moulana Nanotwi, the meaning of the verse will be The Nabi (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam) is nearer to the Believers then their own lives. Our lives are present.
Nobody can deny this fact because if the life is absent then it would mean that we are dead. Our
being alive proves that our life is present. I cannot seem to understand that when our life itself is
present and the one who is nearest to us than our own lives, is regarded as being absent.

If

someone believes that the Nabi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is present, then he is a Mushrik!
What logic is this? Will the Majlisul Ulema or any other Deobandi Aalim be able to prove that the one
who is nearest to our lives is absent? Let's see how much logic you can have behind your arguments.
Hazrat Haji Imdadullah Muhaajr Makki (radi Allahu anhu) writes: Our Ulema fight in the issue of
Meelad Shareef. The Ulema believed in its permissibility as well. When the side of permissibility
exists, why then is there so much hardness on this issue? For us, it is sufficient to follow the people
of Haramain (Makkah and Medina). At the time of Qiyaam one should not have the belief of Tawallud
(that Rasoolullah - sallal laahu alaihi wasallam -is born now). The possibility of the arrival of
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the Meelad assembly is not wrong because the bodily
world is restricted to time and place, but the spiritual world is free from both. So the arrival of
Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is not far from being possible. (Shamaime Imdaadiya,
pg.50,Madani Qutub Khana, Multan).

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

THE SUBJECT OF OMNIPRESENT

This is another false accusation that Sunnis believe Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be
omnipresent. This is not the belief of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah, neither is it the meaning of the
words Haazirand Naazir. The word omnipresent, according to the Oxford Dictionary, means
present everywhere. When the word Haazir and Naazir is used for Almighty Allah it means
Knower and Seeir and does not mean to be present everywhere. (See details in Fatawa Shami,
Vol. 3, pg. 337). The meaning of the word Haazir in the Arabic dictionary is, one who can be seen

with the naked eye. (For refrence, refer to Sarrah, pg. 170; Mukhtaarus Sihaah, pg. 159; Mufreedaat
Imam Raaghib, pg. 372). The meaning of the word Naazir is blackness of the eyeball in which the

pupil of the eye is. Sometimes, the eye itself is called Naazirah ( Reference Mukhtaarus Sihaah, pg.
691)

It is now proven that the words Haazir and Naazir according to its literal meaning are not
suitable for Almighty Allah. Whenever it is used for Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala it is used with
Taweel (re-interpretation),as explained above.

CHALLENGE
We challenge Majlisul Ulama to prove that the words Haazir-o-Naazir means omnipresent.

T
o
p

(N.B.: not from Urdu to English or modern Arabic dictionaries because they are not based on Quranic
Arabic). The literal meaning of the words Haazir-o-Naazir has been explained above and the
Muawwal (re-interpreted) meaning of the words Haazir-o-Naazir for Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala
is Knower and Seeir. I have consulted many dictionaries to look for the word omnipresent and
in all the dictionaries there are no meanings even close to the meaning of the words Haazir-oNaazir. I found that omnipresent is not the meaning of the words Haazir-o-Naazir at all.
The words Haazir-o-Naazir in its literal meaning is never used for Allah Ta'ala. Therefore, in the 99
Names of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala, one would not find the Names of Haazir and Naazir. No
where in the Quraan or Hadith are the names Haazir and Naazir used as Allah Subhaanahu Wa
Ta'ala's Names. No one can prove that the Sahabah or Tabiin or Jurist Imams have ever used the
words Haazir and Naazir for Allah Ta'ala.
The Use of the Word Haazir O Naazir for THE Noble Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa
Sallam
Since it is proven that Haazir-o-Naazir does not mean omnipresent nor is it an Attribute of Allah
Ta'ala which is impossible to manifest in the servants of Allah Ta'ala, like Uluhiyyat (Divinity). The
Ulema have used the words Haazir-o-Naazir for Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Hazrat
Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddis Delwi (radi Allahu anhu) writes: Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi
wasallam) is Haazir-o-Naazir on the deeds of his Ummah. (Haashiya Akhbarul Akhyaar, pg. 155).
The Concept of Haazir O Naazir Used for Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam
Imam Ahle Sunnat, Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Saeed Qazmi (radi Allahu anhu) states: When the word
Haazir-o-Naazir is used for Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), it does not mean that the
physical body of Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is everywhere and that he is present in
front of everybody. This in fact means that as the soul exists in every part of the body similarly the
light filled reality of the Soul of both the worlds (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) exist in every atom of
the worlds. Based on that Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrives with his spirituality and
lightfulness in many places at one time. Many times, the Pious observe the beauty of Rasoolullah
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in a state of wakefulness with their physical eyes. (Taskeenul Khawatir
fi Masalatil Haazir wan Naazir,pg.13, Maktabah-e-Haamdya,Lahore).

Nowhere in the above definition has it been mentioned that Haazir-o-Naazir means
omnipresent. It seems that the entire research of Majlisul Ulema is based on the issues which
they have heard of or assumed.

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

THIRD OBJECTION
Meelad celebrations are declared as Haraam and an evil Bidat because of the following reason:
Meelaad functions are regarded as being of greater importance than Salaat and performance of
Salaat in Jamaat.
OUR ANSWER
This is another false accusation. No Muslim ever regards the Meelad function as being more
important than Salaat. It is almost 10 years that I am residing in South Africa and I have attended
hundreds of Meelad fuctions. Alhumdullilah, I have always found that the Salaat arrangement had
been made with Jamaat. Those who are not punctual with their Salaat will miss Salaat even if they
are sitting at home or are gone to attend a Tableeghi Ijtima. Now, due to some people not reading
Salaat, does this make the Meelad function Haraam?
It is strange that those who have never attended Meelad functions, to them no arrangement of
Salaat is made and people don't read Salaat at Meelad functions. You are giving testimony of an

issue to a place in which you have not been present! Is this correct according to the Law of
Shariah? This objection is just an excuse to stop people from participating in the Zikr
(remembrance) of our beloved Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

Sometimes we observe in a Nikah (marriage) assembly that people get delayed due to some reason.
Thereafter, some read their Salaat while others do not. Will one pass a Fatwa that Nikah functions
are Haraam? If a person traveling by car from Johannesburg to Cape Town misses a few of his Salaah
or misses the Jamaat, will one pass a Fatwa that traveling in a car from Johannesburg to Cape Town
is Haraam? If an assembly of Nikah and travelling remains Halaal, why then does the Meelad
function become Haraam? What criteria are you using?

FOURTH OBJECTION
Meelad functions are declared Haraam because of the following reason: Qawwali - Music at Meelad

functions.
OUR ANSWER
This is another baseless accusation. I have never observed any function of Meelad in which Qawwali
is sung. If anyone has Qawwali with music in a Meelad function then he or she should be stopped
and told that it is not correct. They should be advised to put a stop to such an activity, but should
not be stopped from celebrating the Meelad function.
Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha are days of worship and collective happiness for the Muslims. Some
people have made these days as occasions of merry-making. On Eid-ul-Fitr, people in Johannesburg
get together at the Zoo Lake. Inter-mingling of sexes is seen openly. Women wear fancy make- up on
their faces. Blaring music is played. No Mufti has ever issued a Fatwa that Eid-ulFitr or Eid-ul-Adha
should be stopped based on the non-Shari activities, or that the days of Eid should not be
celebrated anymore. Eid celebrations are not stopped although many Haraam activities have
certainly mixed with the occasion. Why then should the Meelad celebrations be stopped?

FIFTH OBJECTION
Meelad function is declared Haraam because of the following reason: Reciting of verses which
transgress the limits of legitimate praise, thus assigning a position of divinity to our Nabi (sallal
laahu alaihi wasallam).
OUR ANSWER
Here is another lie and false accusation. We believe that if anyone writes or says anything which
proves Divinity to our Rasool (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), then that person is a Kaafir and Mushrik.
Majlisul Ulama failed to furnish any proof of the blasphemous verse being sung. This is another
accusation based on assumption. This type of baseless accusation are not suitable at all for those
who claim to be learned.

Eid e Milad un Nabi in the light of Quran & Ahadit

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

Question: Please give me the evidence about Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi in the light of Quran &
Ahadith.
Before writing the arguments of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him), I want to
clear the meaning of Milad according to literature and Shariah.
The word Milad has been derived from "viladut" which means birth. Therefore, according to Arabic
language, Milad is word which signifies the place and time of birth. In the light of Shariah, we
means, Milad is to remember the events which took place at the birth time of the Holy Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) and we get the opportunity of narrating the Seerat of the
Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) on this occasion, we also presents the Holy Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) gifts of Durood-o-salam. We mention before the people
attributes and praises of the Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him). We do not believe that
Milad is specified with same night but, we believe that the remembrance of the Holy Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) is incumbent in each minute and second of time and every
Muslim should act it sunnahs in the whole life time. Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon
Him) is a great source of preaching. It is incumbent for scholars to teach Muslims nations on this
blessed occasion, moral behavior of the Holy Prophet, (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) his
antiquates, His affairs, His Seerat, His dealings and His worships.
Now I write the proofs of Milad from the Holy Quran, the hadith of the Prophet (Allah's Grace &
Peace be upon Him) and consensus of Ulemas.

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

Evidence of the Quran ul Kareem:

The Quranic verses proves that to celebrate Milad is not only a proper deed but it is also a
praiseworthy.

1) Allah Almighty says in Quran:

"The peace is on Him the day when he was born and the day when he will die and the day when he
will be raised alive."(Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Al-Maryam, Verse 15)
In the above verse Allah Almighty has mentioned the complete Milad of Hazrat Yahya (Alaihis
Salam). And before this Allah Almighty has mentioned the events which took place before the birth.
It is the same way of celebrating birth day as Ahle Sunnat adopts for the Milad of the last Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) of Allah Almighty. In other words the Prophet of Allah Almighty
Hazrat Isa (Alaihis Salam) celebrates his own Milad.
2) As Allah Almighty says:

"And the same peace on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I would be raised
alive." (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Al Maryam, Verse 33)
Before this verse Allah Almighty has stated the whole story of Maryam (Allah may pleased with her)
that who she got pregnant and gave birth her great son, the Prophet of Allah Isa (Alaihi Salam).
Allah Almighty also mentioned the words of Isa (Alaihis Salam) by which Isa (Alaihis Salam) praised
himself. This style of narrating story is nothing but celebration of Milad of Isa Alaihis Salam. Ahle
Sunnat also narrate the story of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) in the
same style. We too narrate the events which took place before the birth and after it as Allah
Almighty narrated about Yahya and Isa (Alaihimus Salam). Therefore, a person who has eyes of
justice will obviously accept that to celebrate Milad is an important deed which Allah Almighty has
done. So it proves that the basis of Milad is found in the Holy Quran.
3) Allah Almighty says:
"And remind them of the days of the Allah." (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Ibrahim,
Verse5)

In this verse Allah Almighty orders his prophet Musa Alaihis Salam to remind his nation the days of
Allah Almighty. "The days of Allah" are those days in which great events took place or Allah Almighty
bestowed his great rewards to his creature. As the Holy Quran testifies this explanation of the days
of Allah Almighty. In the Holy Quran Musa Alaihis Salam says:
"And when Musa said it his people remember Allah's favor upon you, when he delivered you from
Firawn's people who used to afflict you worstly, and slaughter your sons and let your daughters live
and in it there was shown great mercy of your lord." (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura
Ibrahim, Verse 6)

According to the Quranic verse emancipation of the nation of Musa Alaihis Salam from Firawn is a
day of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala, so the birth day of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Grace &
Peace be upon Him) is, with any doubt, also a day of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala, because the
Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) emancipated whole world from the
darkness of ignorance and brought them to the light of guidance. Therefore, the birthday (Milad) of
the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) deserves to be celebrated then the
celebration of any other event. In case we would not be grateful to Allah Almighty for his favor,
which is Muhammad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him). He will punish us severely. As Allah
Almighty says: "And remember when your lord proclaimed, if you will be great full then I shall give
you more and if youre thankless then my treatment is severe." (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy
Quran, Sura Ibrahim, and Verse 7)

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

4) Allah Almighty says:

"Then remember the bounties of Allah and wander not in the earth spreading mischief." (Kanzul Iman
the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Araf, Verse 74)

In the above verse Allah Almighty orders us to remember his bounties and rewards. The last Prophet
of Allah Almighty Muhammad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) is, undoubtedly, great blessing of
Allah Almighty for whole mankind. Allah Almighty himself considers the Prophet (Allah's Grace and
Peace be upon him) his great favor for mankind as He Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala says: "Undoubtedly,
Allah did a great favor to the Muslims that in them from among themselves sent a messenger who
recites unto them His signs and purifies them and teaches them the book and wisdom and
necessarily before that they were certainly apparent error. (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran,

Sura Ale Imran, Verse 164)

Therefore, according to the Quranic commandments we must remember the beloved Prophet of
Allah Muhammad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) and Milad-un-Nabi is a best way of
remembrance of the greatest Prophet (Allahs Grace and Peace be upon him). In another words Allah
Almighty says: "And publicize well the favor of your lord" (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura
Al Duha, Verse 11)

The companion of the Holy Prophet (Allahs Grace and Peace be upon him) Hazrat Abdullah Ibne
Abbas (Allah is well pleased with Him) explained the word favors. He says here, In this verse favor
signifies the prophet hood and Islam. (Tafseer Ibne Abbas, Sure Al Duha, Page 651).
So in the light of the given explanation by the cousin of the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and
Peace be upon him), we can say that Allah Almighty orders us to remember Holy Prophet (Allah's
Grace and Peace be upon him) in our gatherings between the people, in our mosque between
the worshiper and in our houses between our families and Milad un Nabi (Allahs Grace and
Peace be upon him), as I have written is a best way for this Quranic purpose.

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

5) Allah Almighty orders us:

"Say you only Allah's grace and his mercy, on it therefore let them rejoice. That is better then all
their wealth."
In this verse Allah Almighty orders us to enjoy on his grace and mercy. If we see around us we find
that each favor of Allah Almighty is great mercy for us. Even our existence is also a mercy of Allah
Almighty. But the greatest of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala is the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and
Peace be upon him). As Allah Almighty says: "And we sent not you but mercy for all worlds." (Kanzul
Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Al Ambiyaa, Verse 107)

So according the Quranic teachings it is necessary for us that we must be happy and pleased on the
birthday of the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him). The one who pleases with the
Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) is really a true follower of the Quran. And it
is obvious that, in whole world Muslims celebrates Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon
him). Specially for enjoying the mercy of Allah Almighty that is the beloved prophet of Allah
Almighty (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) Therefore the Holy Quran itself confirms the Milad
un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him)

6) The gathering of Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) incite Muslims on saying
Durood and Salam ( to pray for prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) of blessing and
peace) Allah Almighty says: "Oh you who I believe send upon Him blessing and salute Him fully well
in abundance. (Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Al Ahzab, Verse 56)
According to the law of Shariah, a thing which is desired by Shariah, is exactly a like an aim of
Shariah. And the benefits of Durood-o-salam are so much in numbers that can not be counted.
Durood-o-salam causes for the help of Allah Almighty in this world and here after. So Milad un Nabi
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) is a source of fulfilling the commandments of Allah Almighty
7) Allah Almighty says:
"And all that we narrate to you of the tidings of the messengers is for the purpose of strengthening
your heart therewith."(Kanzul Iman the translation of Holy Quran, Sura Hood, Verse 121)

This Quranic verse reveals that the wisdom of mentioning the stories and events of Prophets
(Alaihis salam) was to stand fast the heart of the last prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon
him). And it is obvious that we are, also today, in need of being stand fast. We must know that how;
the prophet of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) faced the
problems of his time so that we may face the problems of our times according to the
Sunnah. Therefore Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) provides us an opportunity
to know about the affair of the Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him).

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

Evidence of Hadith (Narrations of the Noble Prophet (Allah's

Grace and Peace be upon him):

There are many narrations, which proves the Milad Sharif but I write a few.
1) The Prophet of Allah (Allahs Grace and Peace be upon him) himself stated his own birth from
very beginning He says: "I had been transferred, continuously, from purified offspring to purified
wombs. I had been given birth by a lawful marriage not by adultery. When Allah Almighty sent Adam
Alaihis Salam on earth so He put me in his spine and then transferred in Nuh Alaihis salam in his
boat, and then in Ibrahim Alaihis salam Allah Almighty transferred me continuously from noble
offspring to the purified wombs up to that He brought me in my parents who never committed
adultery." (Tafseer Ruhul Bayan, Vol. 3, Page 54)
As I have written in the beginning that Milad means the time of birth or place of birth. So the Holy
Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) himself celebrated his own Milad. In the same way
Ahle Sunnat following the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him)narrate the events of
the birth of the Holy Prophet (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) .This hadith is the clear proof
Milad un Nabi (Allahs Grace and Peace be upon him) and as well as tell us that to celebrate Milad
un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) is not innovation (bidat) but it is a sunnah (tradition)
of Prophet (Allahs Grace and Peace be upon him).

There are many other narrations which narrate that the Prophet of Allah (Allah's Grace and
Peace be upon him) celebrate his own Milad several times, some of those narrations have been
written in Mishkat Sharif.
2) "The one who rejoices on the birth day of the Holy Prophet would not be severely punished and it
is hopped that a Muslim who celebrate the Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him), will
not be punished in hell. Imam Bukhari Rahmatullah Alaih narrates that Abu Lahab would be punished
lightly in the hell on Monday. Because he rejoiced and freed his handmaid indicating by his finger,
when the Prophet of Allah Almighty (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) took birth. So as a reward
of happiness on Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) he would be given water by his
finger. (Saheehul Bukhari Vol. 2, Page 764)
Imam Shams ud din Naseer Al Damaishqi narrates this hadith in poetry. Here is its translation.
If such kafir was denounced (in the Quran)
And perished are his hands, and in the flame is his eternal abode.
It is narrated every Monday.
His torment is made easy for his joy at the birth of Ahmad. (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him)
What is the expectation then of a servant who spent all his life.
Happy with the arrival of Ahmad (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) and died on the oneness of

Allah Almighty.
(Haul-ul-Ahtifal Bil Mawlid Al-Nabvi Al Sharif, Page 11)

3) The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) celebrated his own Milad by
having fast. Imam Wali ud din write this narration with reference to the Saheeh Muslim. When the
Prophet of Allah (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) was asked about the fast of Monday. He
(Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him) said:
"I took birth and the Quran was revealed upon me in this day." (Mishkat Sharif, Page 179)
This narration proves that to celebrate Milad un Nabi is a tradition of the Holy Prophet (Allahs
Grace and Peace be upon him) on every Monday. Secondly it is lawful to fix a particular day for
Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him). Thirdly it is an act of sunnah to worship in
the pleasure of the Milad un Nabi (Allah's Grace and Peace be upon him).

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

Evidence of general consensus of Muslim ummah and scholars

(Ulema):
1) Imam Al-Hafiz Al-Suyuti in his famous book "Al-Hawii Lil-Fatawii" allocated a special chapter on
that topic and named it "The Excellence of Objective in Celebrating the Mawlid" where he said: The
question under consideration is what the verdict of the Shari'ah on celebrating the Blessed Birthday
of the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) during the month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal.
From the point of view of Shari'ah is this a praiseworthy action or a blameworthy one? And do those
who arrange such celebration Receive blessings or not? He said:
"The reply to this question is that in my view the Milad Shareef (Celebration of the Birthday of the
Noble Prophet Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) is in fact such an occasion of happiness on which
people assemble and recite the Holy Qu'ran to the extent that is easy. Then they relate the
prophecies concerning the appearance of the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him)
that have been transmitted in Ahadith and Author, and the miraculous events and signs that took
place on his birth. Then food is set before them and according to their desire they partake thereof
to satisfaction. This festival of celebrating the birthday of the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace
be upon Him) is a Bid'ah Hasanah (good Innovation) and those arranging it will get blessing, since in
such a celebration is found the expression of joy and happiness at the greatness and eminence of
the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) and his birth".
Even Ibn Tay'miah said in his book "Necessity of the Right Path", p. 266, 5th line from the
bottom of that page, published by Dar Al-Hadith, the following:
"As far as what people do during the Milad, either as a rival celebration to that which the Christian
do during the time of Christ's birthday or as an expression of their love and admiration and a sign of
praise for the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him), Allah Almighty will surely reward
them for such Ijtihad". He then said: "Although Milad was not practiced by (Salaf), they should have
done so since there was no objection against it from the Shari'ah point of view".
And we certainly only celebrate Milad out of love and admiration to the Prophet of all Mankind.

Re: Eid e Milad un Nabi in the light of Quran & Ahadit

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

2) Imam Al-Hafiz Al-Qastalani, who gave commentary on Sahih Bukhari, said: "May Allah Almighty
shower his Mercy upon a person who takes the days of the month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal, in which the
Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) was born, as days of feast and celebration for
doing so is the best cure for the heart of an ailing person."
3) Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar was asked, same reference of Imam Suyuti, about Milad Shareef. His reply
was:
"Milad Shareef is, in fact, and innovation, which was not transmitted from any pious predecessor in
the first three centuries. Nevertheless, both acts of virtue as well as acts of abomination are found
in it (i.e. Sometimes acts of virtue are found therein and sometimes acts of abomination). If in the
Milad Shareef only acts of virtue are done and acts of abomination are abstained from, then the
Milad Shareef is a Bid'ah Hasanah (good innovation), otherwise not."
He then added: "To do any virtuous act and to observe it annually as means of recollection for any

special day on which Allah Almighty has bestowed any favor or removed any calamity is a form of
showing gratitude to Allah Almighty. Gratitude to Allah Almighty is expressed through different kinds
of Ibaadah (worship) -prostration and standing in prayer, charity and recitation of the Holy Qu'ran.
And what is a greater favor from Allah Almighty can there be than the appearance of the Prophet of
Mercy (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) on this day (i.e. 12th of Rabbi-ul-Awwal)?" Some people
do not limit it and celebrate the Milad Shareef on any day of Rabbi-ul-Awwal. Nay, some people
have extended it even more and increased the period to the whole year. According to the latter, the
Milad Shareef can be celebrated on any day of the year. The objective here is the same, i.e. to
rejoice at and celebrate the Holy Birth of the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him).

4) Imam Abu-Bakr Abdullah Al-Dimashqi compiled a number of books on the subject and called them
"Collection of Traditions on the Birth of the Chosen Prophet", "The Pure Expression on the Birthday
of the Best of Creations" and "The Spring for the Thirsty One on the Birth of the Rightly Guided".
5) Imam Al-Hafiz Al-Iraqi wrote a book and called it "The Pure Spring on the Sublime Birth".
6) Imam Ibn Dahyah wrote a book and called it "Enlightenment on the Birthday of the Bearer of
Good News, The Warner".
7) Imam Mulla Ali Qari wrote a book and called it "The Quenching Spring on the Birthday of the
Prophet". (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him)
8) Imam Shams ul-Din bin Naseer Al-Dimashqi, said in his book: "The Spring for the Thirsty One on
the Birth of the Rightly Guided" about the story of Abu Lahab that he will receive a light punishment
every Monday for expressing joy at the birth of the Noble Prophet (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon
him) on that day. The Imam said the following verse of poetry, the translation is: If such Kafir was
denounced in the (Qur'an) and perished are his hands, and in the Flames is his eternal abode It is
narrated that every Monday.
His torment is made easy for his Joy at the Birth of Ahmad What is the expectation then of a servant
who spent all his life Happy with the Arrival of Ahmad (Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him) and died
on the Oneness of Allah.
9) Imam Shams Ul-Din Ibn aL-Jazri, the Imam of reciters, wrote a book and named it "The Scent of
Notification on the Blessed Birthday".
10) Imam Al-Hafiz Ibn Al-Jawzi said in the description of Milad: "Peace and Tranquility takes over
during that year and a good glad tiding to obtain your wish and inspiration".
11) Imam Abu-Shamah, The Sheikh of Al Hafiz Al Nawawi, said: "The best of the innovations of our

times is what is carried out on the day of corresponding to the birthday of our Beloved Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon Him), where people give out donations, practice what is right,
express their joy and happiness, in doing so is surely a sign of love and admiration for the Prophet
(Allah's Grace & Peace be upon him)".

Wahhabi Mawlids
by Attariya Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:28 am

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

It is widely believed that Wahhabi/"Salafi" are against the idea of holding celebrations of Mawlid.

But that's not true. They celebrate not one, but many Mawlids.

Here are some of the

Wahhabi/"Salafi" Mawlids we have witnessed.

1- Mawlid of Shaykh Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab, Shaykh-an-Najdi (Also, the title which was
given to Shaytan), Shaykh al-Islam of "Salafis"/Wahhabis, and Imam of the Two Cities (Riyad and
Dar`iyya):
Every year at the anniversary date of Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab's death, a great feast is held
at the Ibn Sa`ud University in Riyad (in Najd) at which time they praise the unparalleled
magnificence of their beloved religious leader, listing his qualities and reciting new poetry about his
greatness. All over the world, their embassies also fulfill this important communal obligation (fard
kifaya). This is NOT `ibada, of course.
2- Mawlid of the State, known as National Day:
This Mawlid, similar to Independence Day, Flag Day, and Army Day, is celebrated every year in the
country with international gala festivities, fanfare, parades, army reviews, podiums and thrones,
and also, of course, new poems of praise and Madih recitations for the State founders and current
rulers, all at colossal cost, but whatever means leads to fulfilling an obligation (fard), is itself an
obligation. Of course this is NOT `ibada.
3- Mawlid of the Nation's Century:
This was a gigantic and truly new Mawlid, the like of which was never seen before. Last year we all
witnessed the great celebrations whose main slogan was "100 years KSA" to commemorate one
century of freedom from the innovated Khilafa and the establishment of the Sunni Kingdom. On this
occasion
thousands of shiny and colorful lights, new constructions, inventive and tasteful decorations,
posters, banners, placards, and other graphic art productions were displayed in public places and
broadcast over the media with orchestral music, poems, and commentary of self-praise and
glorification that filled the heart with warmth, love of dunya, and national pride. All Mawlids should
be like this! (Needless to say, this is NOT `ibada.)
4- Mawlid of the Mufti:
At the recent passing of the Grand Mufti of the Wahhabiyya Sect, Bin Baz, it was decided by the
Mawlid Celebration Board to issue a special commemorative glossy publication praising his
greatness, listing his achievements and merits, and deploring his demise with big tears of sadness.
In fact, the magazine cover showed a delightful, artistic painting of a series of big tears stringed
together like dhikr-beads, and inside each tear there was a small Ka`ba. Al-Hamdu lillah, the Grand

mufti is gone, the tears dried up, but we still have the Ka`ba!

Assalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu

Assalaatu Wassalaamu Alayka Ya Rasoolallah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam

5- Mawlid of the Ministers:

From time to time, public sessions of high praise are held for certain ministers according to worldly
(dunya) merit. In a recent incident one of our brothers unduly obsessed with the hereafter (Akhira)
witnessed a TV program in Madina during Hajj 1999, in which one of the Ministers was lavishly
praised (madih) by a 7-year old schoolboy dressed in a formal army suit, reciting poetry he had
innovated for him. The boy was called to the podium (`arsh) and asked by that minister what he
would like to receive for praising him so much. The boy said on the spot: "Half a million Ryals." The
Minister happily granted his wish. (Jazak Allahu Khayran for such a generous, noble gesture on
National TV during Hajj, so that everyone young and old should learn to praise and magnify
government officials instead of reciting Qasidat al-Burda or other such things! ) The brother who
witnessed this event on TV, as he was pleased with the Best of Creation - the Prophet Sallal Laahu
Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam - went to the Prophet's Mosque and, standing at Bab Gibril in front of the

blessed Green Dome (with other brothers who were also obsessed with Akhira), started excessively
obeying the command of the Qur'an to invoke blessings and abundant greetings on the Holy Prophet
Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam and recite Qasida in his praise. Immediately, the guards of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques went on Red Alert (special guards from the elite Tala`al Badru
Emergency Alert Unit) as they noticed that the brothers were committing an act of love and respect
for the Beloved of Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala, something known in their legal police code as
SHIRKUFRBID`A (which only they can pronounce correctly).

So the elite, frowning paratroopers

yelled at the brothers to stop immediately this violation of the National Mawlid Law, manhandled
them, and threatened them with arrest and jail unless they stopped their crime. Moral: If only those
brothers had used their intellects to recite Mawlid for a State Minister instead of Rahmatan lilAlamin Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam, they would have been several million Ryals richer
today! (And this would NOT be `ibada!)

1- Mawlid of Monuments and Inscriptions:

T

p

Unlike the preceding Mawlids which are seasonal or according to special circumstances, this Mawlid
is a permanent Mawlid in Madina, steps away from the Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam's
Mosque in the ritzy Dar al-Tayba square. It consists in a 15-foot monument in the shape of a globe
topped by a dome similar to the Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam's dome, flanked by a
flag, in the middle of a waterfall. Below, an inscription says: "In appreciation to the King for services
rendered to Islam." This Mawlid of Monuments and Inscriptions fulfills two important functions.
First, it is most suitable for photography as a memento of His Majesty the King in the City of the
Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam as, unfortunately, pictures of the real Dome are
prohibited but happily, pictures of this dunya monument are welcome (as it is NOT `ibada).
Second, just like the inscription acknowledging His Majesty the King at the bottom of the door of
the Ka`ba in Mecca (for every pilgrim to remember and commemorate) this monument and
inscription fills the vacuum created - in the last century - by the destruction of the graves of of the
great past Muslim figures who contributed over 1,000 years to the greatness of Islam. Figures such
as `Uthman ibn `Affan who used to ride on a donkey and sleep on the mosque floor when he was
caliph; `Uthman ibn Mazun whose grave the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam
personally built up; Malik ibn Anas who walked barefoot in Madina out of respect for Rasulullah
Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam; our mothers the Prophet's wives; his daughters, uncles,
cousins, and thousands of Sahaba all left without one sign - i.e. monument or inscription - reminding
of their existence or "services rendered to Islam." But why remember them? Wouldn't that be...
`IBADA!?

Conclusion:
It is hoped that this brief description will help dispel the false and unjust notion that no Mawlid of
any kind is celebrated in the Wahhabi/"Salafi" world today. Yes, they celebrate Mawlid, rejoice and
remember like everybody else - but in their own special way, WITHOUT `ibada. As Allah Subhaanahu
Wa Ta'ala said: "Every party rejoices in what they have." And the Holy Prophet Sallal Laahu Ta'ala
Alayhi Wa Sallam said: "When someone loves something, they make abundant remembrance of it."
May Allah reward everyone of them for NOT making `ibada with innovated Mawlids, all according to
their intention and according to what they deserve!
Bear this one thing in mind: These shayateen have the cheeks to say that Milad-un-Nabi (Sall Allahu
alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) is Shirk & Bid'ah, yet in the LA Times, they openly join in the celebration
of Christmas.
So let's get this straight. According to the Najdis:
a. Milad of Nabi Isa ibn Maryam, Christmas, which is actually a pagan Greco-Roman
celebration, is considered to be a sacred event.

b. Milad of the (Noble) Last Messenger, Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, is "bid'ah,
shirk, kufr."

La'natullah 'alaa-l-kaadhibeen wa alaa-l-munafiqeen!
