function description, sectional drawing

The external gear pump is mainly composed of a pair of gears (1)
which rotate into 2 bearings (2), as well as the housing (3) and its
front (4) and rear flanges (4.1). A lip seal (5) is assuring the tightness
of the drive shaft through the front flange.
The forces applied to the bearings are compensated by the rings (6).
Those rings can support high pressure and are resistant to jamming,
useful at low speed.
The 12 teeth of each gear allow the pump to reach a low flow pulsation
amplitude and a low noise level.

The internal sealing is achieved by forces which are proportional to

delivery pressure. This ensures optimum efficiency.
The mobile bearings (2) provide the seal at the ends of the gaps
between the teeth which carry the pressurized oil.
The sealing zone between the gear teeth and the bearings is controlled
by the admission of operating pressure to the rear of the bearings.
Special seal (11) form the boundary of the zone.
The radial clearance at the tips of the gear teeth is sealed by internal
forces pushing them against the housing.

Maximum permissible degree of contamination of the

pressure fluid is to NAS 1638, class 10. We therefore recommend a
filter with a minimum retention rate of 25 = 75. To ensure a long
service life we recommend class 9, NAS 1638, achievable with a filter
retention rate of 10 100.
