This article is about newspaper headlines. For the U.S. TV series, see Big Town. For other uses,
see Headlines (disambiguation)."Subheading" redirects here. For the Wikipedia guideline, see
Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings). The headline is the text indicating the nature of the article
below it.The large type front page headline did not come into use until the late 19th century
when increased competition between newspapers led to the use of attention-getting headlines. It
is sometimes termed a news hed, a deliberate misspelling that dates from production flow during
hot type days, to notify the composing room that a written note from an editor concerned a
headline and should not be set in type.Headlines in English often use a unique set of grammatical
rules known as Headlinese.

Editorial page
An editorial, leading article (UK) or leader (UK), is an opinion piece written by the
senior editorial staff or publisher of a newspaper, magazine, or any other written document.
Editorials may be supposed to reflect the opinion of the periodical.[citation needed] In Australian
and major United States newspapers, such as The New York Times[1] and The Boston Globe,
editorials are often classified under the heading "opinion".Illustrated editorials may appear be in
the form of editorial cartoons. Typically, a newspaper's editorial board evaluates which issues are
important for their readership to know the newspaper's opinion.
Editorials are typically published on a dedicated page, called the editorial page, which often
features letters to the editor from members of the public; the page opposite this page is called the
op-ed page and frequently contains opinion pieces by writers not directly affiliated with the
publication. However, a newspaper may choose to publish an editorial on the front page. In the
English language press, this is done rarely and only on topics considered especially important;
however, it is more common in some European countries such as Spain, Italy, and France.[5]
In the field of fashion publishing, the term has been adapted to refer to photo-editorials
features with often full-page photographs on a particular theme, designer, model or other single
topic, with or (as a photo-essay) without accompanying text.

television outlets such as Rogers Sportsnet, TSN, and Vancouver radio station The Team 1040.

interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial
arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.

Science page
Science (from Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge"[1]) is a systematic enterprise that builds and
organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about nature and the
universe.[nb 1] In an older and closely related meaning, "science" also refers to a body of
knowledge itself, of the type that can be rationally explained and reliably applied. Ever since
classical antiquity, science as a type of knowledge has been closely linked to philosophy. In the
West during the early modern period the words "science" and "philosophy of nature" were
sometimes used interchangeably,[2]:p.3 and until the 19th century natural philosophy (which is
today called "natural science") was considered a separate branch of philosophy in the West.

Lifestyle page
A lifestyle business is a business that is set up and run by its founders primarily with the aim of
sustaining a particular level of income and no more; or to provide a foundation from which to
enjoy a particular lifestyle. Some types of enterprise are more accessible than others to the wouldbe lifestyle business person. Those requiring extensive capital (for example: car manufacturing)
are difficult to launch and sustain on a lifestyle basis; others such as small creative industries
businesses are more practical for sole practitioners or small groups such as husband-and-wife
teams. In conventional business terms, lifestyle businesses typically have limited scalability and
potential for growth because such growth would destroy the lifestyle for which their ownermanagers set them up. However, lifestyle businessess can and do win awards and provide
satisfaction to their owners and customers. If sufficient high-quality creative producers begin to
naturally cluster together, such as in Brighton, England, during the 1990s, the perception of a
place can be radically changed (see Porter's cluster). These are firms that depend heavily on
founder skills, personality, energy, and contacts. Often their founders create them to exercise
personal talent or skills, achieve a flexible schedule, work with other family members, remain in
a desired geographic area, or simply to express themselves.

Education page
Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, values, beliefs
and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through
storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and or research. Education may also include informal
transmission of such information from one human being to another. Education frequently takes
place under the guidance of others, but learners may also educate themselves (autodidactic
learning).[1] Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may
be considered educational.Education is commonly and formally divided into stages such as
preschool, primary school, secondary school and then college, university or apprenticeship. The
science and art of how best to teach is called pedagogy.A right to education has been recognized
by some governments. At the global level, Article 13 of the United Nations' 1966 International
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights recognizes the right of everyone to an
education.

Weather page
Weather is the state of the atmosphere, to the degree that it is hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or
stormy, clear or cloudy.[1] Weather, seen from an anthropological perspective, is something all
humans in the world constantly experience through their senses, at least while being outside.
There are socially and scientifically constructed understandings of what weather is, what makes
it change, what effects it has on humans in different situations etc.[2] Therefore weather is
something people often communicate about. Turning back to the meteorological perspective,
most weather phenomena occur in the troposphere,[3][4] just below the stratosphere. Weather
generally refers to day-to-day temperature and precipitation activity, whereas climate is the term
for the statistics of atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time.[5] When used without
qualification, "weather" is generally understood to mean the weather of Earth.

Obituaries page
An obituary is a news article that reports the recent death of a person, typically along with an
account of the person's life and information about the upcoming funeral.[1] In large cities and
larger newspapers, obituaries are written only for people considered significant.[1] In local
newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a
register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or
field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can
be important sources of information. Two types of paid advertisements are related to obituaries.
One, known as a death notice, omits most biographical details and may be a legally required
public notice under some circumstances. The other type, a paid memorial advertisement, is
usually written by family members or friends, perhaps with assistance from a funeral home.[1]
Both types of paid advertisements are usually run as classified advertisements.
