INTERNSHIP
Institute: Ecole Nationale Suprieure d'Arts et Mtiers (ENSAM)
Location: Angers (France)
Department: Laboratory of Processes, Materials and Instrumentation (LPMI)
Period: May-July, 2008
Determined the endurance limit of commercial steel MetascoMC using thermal measurements corresponding to self-heating
due to onset of microplasticity.
Investigated fatigue anisotropy in material by analyzing specimens rolled out in different directions.
Achievement:
Proposed my own hypothesis to account for results which were contradictory to predictions made in existing literature available on
subject. My findings were subsequently corroborated by researchers from Ascometal (industrial partner).

KEY ACADEMIC PROJECTS

B-Tech. Project (August 2008 Present)

x Design and fabrication of a closed loop heat pipe circulation system.
x Integration of system with C.I. engine for optimal heat dissipation during operating conditions.
Achievement: Eliminates the requirement of radiator and fan and hence the weight and space associated with them.
Summer Project (May-June, 2007)
x Design and development of composite rotor blades of a mini autonomous helicopter.
x Analyzed structural stability of blades in both static and dynamic rotating environments.
Achievement: Designed more aerodynamically efficient airfoils resulting in better hover and flight performance.
Term Paper (March-April, 2008)
x Solution to a problem of 2-D Heat Conduction and Thermal Stress analysis in a composite rectangular plate using Finite
Element Methods. Programmed in MATLAB and used the software for analysis of displacements, strains and stresses using
4-noded planar rectangular elements.

Key achievements
Compiled and edited the much sought after newsletter of my Department
which featured informative articles about mechanical engineering and kept the
readers posted about the latest events.
Motivated my colleagues to contribute to the newsletter.
Led a small team to organize School Bag, an event which orients schoolgoing
students to the technology and culture at IIT Kanpur.
Made the event enjoyable for participants by holding various competitions like
quizzes, Olympiads, etc.
Worked in a team to organize the Kavi Sammelan (Poets Convention) which
earned accolades from the entire campus community.
Invited prominent poets to the show and successfully managed its publicity and
the hospitality of guests.
