FollowalongintheButtonSailorPantspatternfoundHEREtoattachthebuttonflaps/sailor
fronttothefrontpatternpiecesoftheshorts.Oncewehavefinishedthosesteps,wecan
continueheretomaketheshorts.

Now,takeyouralternatingfabricbandsandlaythemrightsidestogetherwiththeshortspattern,

Measureyourchild'swaist,anddividethatnumberinhalf.(mydaughterhasa21"waist,
cutinhalfis10.5).Minus3.5approx.inchesforelastic,sothatitstretches,cutthat
amountofelastic.
Pinthemiddleoftheelastictothebackpantwaistseamandstitchinplacewithawide
stationaryzigzagstitch.Stretchtheelasticoutoneithersidetomeetthesideseam,pinit
thenstitchitdownwiththestationaryzigzag.Don'tworryaboutitlookingalittlebunched,
itwillbepulledoutwhenthebandissewn.

Folddown1moretowardswrongside,enclosingtheelasticandstraightstitchalongboth
sides.

Whensewingonyourbuttonholesandbuttons,besuretomarkthemevenly,sotheylineup
properly.Sewthebuttonholesontheoutside,andthebuttonsontheinsideflap.
