that time and get tliem prepared to go.
We are also looking into the possibilities of sending a team of students into
Istanbul Turkey, but we have not been able to arrange anyone to make a survey
trip there )'et. We have several students from October's mission retreat, and
people contacted since then, that might be interested in going. Once we get this
team into France, Lord willing, then we can look into the opportunities in
Istanbul.

Luxemburg is on hold for right now since the family that was going to go
and sun ey the area for us was not able to go. We do ask that )'ou would keep all

ORIENTATION
We had a great orientation the end of April at
our main office in Bethel Missouri. There were eight
recruits who attended for the weekend.

We sure

appreciate the help that we received from Bethel

Christian Church. They provided a place to meet
and some of the ladies helped with meals etc. It was
a great blessing.
We are excited about the new opportunities
in Potiers France where Bill and Ann Caroline Balrd

are now working. We are hoping, Lord wnlling, to

have a young couple and a young man, Andy Wiedman, go to Potiers to attend the university and start
a campus ministry while helping Bill and his family
continue the work that they are doing with a new
church. As of last year France is a new country for

The orientations that we hold are mainly to

for recruits to meet each other and get aquainted.
Dad, Sonja, Karen, Toai, and 1 were there to moti

CAMP CONTINUED

Karen and Toai were the missionaries while I just had a workshop and

spoke one evening at vespers. It was good to be able to motivate the kids in the
direction of missions.

I will be the missionary of the first chance week here in Dallas in a couple
of weeks from now. This is a good time to get a hold of the faculty and helpers.
I will also be the missionary at a camp in North Carolina the first week in August

with Reggie Brazil. I am looking forward to that. Dad, Sonja, Karen, Toai, and
I are all involved in several camps this year, we enjoy it. It is surprising how
many missionaries come out of these camp weeks, kids and faculty. There is no
better place to get close to tlie Lord.
MICHIGAN

I had a great time spending three weeks in Michigan. Pat and Kathy
Topping put me up for the first week that I was in the state. 1enjoyed spending
time MTth them in Big Rapids. Pat and Kathy were our forwarding agents while
Sheila and I were in Hungary. They took me up to Manistee to speak on that
Sunday.

I also spent a week with Doug and Janet Orton in Charlotte. Michael
O'Bersld, the preacher at West Lansing Church of Christ, asked me to speak
there on Wednesday. I then went with Doug andJanet up to Harrison and spoke
on Sunday at Dodge City Church of Christ. It was a great encouragement to see
everyone, they were all wonderful. While visiting with the Hildretli's, I found
out that they might get transferred to France. That would be great. The
Hildreth's would be a big help to die work diere. We will see what the Lord has
in store.

FAMILY

Pete Laughren, my brother in law, left South Africa a few days ago to
accompany liis sister to India where her and her husband, Mark, are adopting a
baby. Mom is going over in the next week or so to be with Fran and Denzil while
Pete is gone. Fran has been having some headaches due to an irregular electrical
impulse in her brain. They are currendy tr)ang different medications to control
it. Please keep Fran in your prayers. She has had minor memory loss from this.
Otherwise the family is all healthy.
Karen and Toai are currendy raising support to return to Southeast Asia
next year this time. Pray for us as we all continue to look for workers to GO.
