MISSION PROJECT UPDA TE

SUMMER 2001
FIELD UPDATES:

France: In July Al and Sonja Hamilton were able to meet with Bill

Anne-Carollne Baird,

Outreach International missionaries to France. They were Statesidefor a short visit and so we

were able to discuss some ofthe progress in ministry in France as well as new opportunitiesfor

interns and student ministry. Both the Bairds and Karen Richardson are continuing to^ work

with a small church congregation that is growing in theirfaith. Jason and Jennifer Reinoehl
are the Youth Educational Services Interns that are working along side the Bairds and Karen.

The Reinoehls were also Stateside for a little over a month for fundraising and reporting to

their sending churches. Al was also able to meet with Jason Reinoehl while they were in the
States. They are excited about the possibilities for what the Lord has in store for them in
ministry. At the end ofAugust Clint Leigh willjoin this team ofworkers asanIntern instudent
ministry. Please prayfor Clint as he adjusts to a new culture and prayfor open opportunities
for him to witness and serve.

Russia: Georse

Connie Keralis were also back in the Statesfor a few months this summer.

The preacher and leadership training church growth and Bible classes are continuing to go
well. George works a great deal with the national church leaders while Connie continues with
the Ladies ministries. TheyJust recently lost theirforwarding agents to the missionfield (what a

great way to lose aforwarding agent) and the Lord has already provided newforwarding agents
to help with their stateside andfinancial responsibilities.

South Africa: Pete & Fran and Denzil Laughren hosted severalinterns and work teams this

past summer. Fran had eye surgery as well and we thank Godfor the good results! Roland
Joseph is continuing to serve with the Kimberly Christian Church. Roland is a national
worker that we try to encourage and support as much as we can. He had come to know the Lord
as ayoung man when Al &Annette werefirst married and working in South Africa in the 60 s.
Ueanda & Kenva. East Africa: Although the work in East Africa was turned over to another

missionary that isfulltime in East Africa, Outreach International still sends interns to work with
these missionaries. Larry Smith continues to make regular trips with interns to Uganda and
Kenya. Most recently this work reported having 95 Ugandan & Kenyan church leaders
attending the July 2001 Bible training course from a total of 54 Ugandan and Kenyan
churches. We praise Godthat this work is ongoing.

Thailand: Paul DeLuca (Youth Educational Services Intern) hasJust returnedfrom Thailand
were he taught some. Although he did not feel led by the Lord to stay on in Thailand, he is
excited about helping tofind teachers ofEnglish tohelp the schools there.

Labors of Love - Haiti: Wayne & Judy Black reported on the progress in Bois-Aube, where

recently a concrete roofwas poured (not a "common event" in that part ofthe world). The Lord
provided thefood, crew and water to get thejob done, so we rejoice with them.
Southeast Asia: The Nguyens (YES Program) are happy to report that 6 of theirfamily arid
friends have come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior since they arrived on thefield in MidNovember 2000. Praise Godfor these new brothers andsisters in Christ!!! Please remember

them in yourprayers as this "highly resistant"fieldprovides daily challenges -prayfor wisdom

in the daily decisions that have to be madefor the good ofall involved.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES:

China: There are teaching contracts available at various schools in Shunde, Panyu, Harbin
and Shuifenhe (a bordering city to Russia) in China. These are large cities anywhere from I
million to 3 million people. Each city needs teachers for a variety of age groups including
kindergarten, primary and middle schools. No degree is needed to teach kindergarten or

primary school, however a degree in English is needed to teach middle school Teachers will
live with bothforeign andChinese teachers andit will not be aproblem iffriends/family want to
visit them. It would be noproblemfor the teacher tohave children, since there isno limitation of
family size. Teachers would teach approximately 24 hours a week and would have 1-2 year
contract. Wages are paid in Chinese Yuan (3,000-5,000), plus room and board is provided.
When we werefirst contacted about thisopportunity, we were told that there was a needfor 24
teachers. They would like to have the teachers arrive in August as school begins September
1st. 1 know this is short notice, but there Just might be someone out there who is waitingfor

such a great opportunity. Pray that the Lord will raise up laborersfor his harvestfields. (We
already have several inquiries on this opportunity that we arefollowing up on).
West Africa: We have been asked to consider a family and their co-workers who would like to

come under the umbrella of Outreach International as they continue the work the Lord has

given them in West Africa. They will be meeting with us in the next week or two ofthis writing.
Please pray that this transition will serve tofurther His Kingdom in a mighty way as we seek
to serve these experienced missionaries. Pray that their transition will be as problemfree as
possible.

New Recruits: We have recently had several requestsfor information from college students

andyoung couples looking at thepossibilities and opportunities toserve in student ministries

and/or teaching English as a Second Language. Please prayfor the Lord's leading in these
lives as they make decisions abouttheir rolein world-wide missions!
USA OFFICES:

Since thefirst of theyear Outreach International has hadsomefinancial challenges as there

has been a substantial decrease in funds ($2,000 a month) due to a couple of our major
supporters' financial situation changing. These funds were used primarily for the costs
incurredfor recruiting workers and running the Outreach International office in Bethel. This

decrease has directly affected Al &: Annette Hamilton's support, as Al andJonathan Hamilton
are doing most ofthe traveling and recruiting. Pray that new supportfunds will befoundfor
Outreach JnternationaVs recruiting and supportAogistic work.

We trust that we are in His

hands as this is His work, so we know He will provide according to His with purpose and
tinun2, as He has beenfaithful to do in the past

Bethel, Missouri: Sonja Hamilton is continuing in the ongoing responsibilities of logistics,

and support work for theproject and missionaries under Outreach International and Youth
Educational Services. She has been blessedto be a part oftwo camps in July, the mainspeaker

also coordinates the accommodations and sets up OutreachInternational's annual meeting to be

held at the National Missionary Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, October 26^. She is

college students.

The operating philosophy ofOutreach International since its beginning in 1977, is based on
the fact that all mankind deserve the chance to hear about the saving grace of Jesus Christ

and that it is each Christian's responsibility to do all we can to reach the world with the
Good News of Salvation found in Jesus Christ Therefore Outreach International has
acted as "starters" for those new to worldwide missions and has helped start, by the grace
of God, several new missions across the world.
