New Recruits! That's something that all mission organizations like to see. We
have a passion for reaching the lost world with the Gospel of Christ, so when we
think of new recruits, we think of new un-reached people groups being reached.
We think of needs being met, places having preachers and teachers where there
were none, new workers for the Kingdom in places where there is such a great
need, new people that we may be able to help do the work of the Kingdom that
God has called them to do. We get excited! We get encouraged. We thank the
Lord that maybe we can be used to help in some small way.
In the past couple of months, we have had several people come to us for help,
young people who feel the call of God on their lives to take the word of God to
those in another coimtry where they don't have it. We have also had olderpeople
who are already in ministry come to us to partner with them as they make evan
gelistic trips overseas. We are praising God for being here to hopefully help these
brothers and sisters in Christserve Him more fully and completely in othercoimtries.

Uganda. They were so excited to get over there and get started in the work. We
also had the Ulibarri family return to Equatorial Guinea, West Africa. They are
stayingout in a village with the peoplelearningthe Fang language and gettingim

Betty Pierce in your prayers as they are battling malaria and other healtli issues
there in Equatorial Giiinea. The Pryor family has had some problems with ma
laria as well. Living in the village in New Guinea lends to a lot of health issues
from time to time. A1 Corson's most recent trip to Mozambique and South Africa
went well. He was able to accomplish a lot of teaching and preaching. He plans to
return to Mozambique with his wife Velma this year and continue with helping
the people understand the scriptures from the Christian world view. Jared Hla
has been very busy with his involvement in the university there in Thailand. He is
studying Thai and helping his dad in the ministry in Myanmar. There are several

^e second week mjmuary was fun for Teri and me. We made atrip to North Carolina where we spoke at

was Tens first time to meet the congregation. Jon hartley, the minister, and his family were wonderful and
kind to welcome us mto their home. While we were in that part of the country, we did some visiting in Viiginia
and West Vi^^ as weU. We saw Wayne and Judy Black, who are in charge of O.l.'s Haiti project We also
saw some old fnends, Jerry and Von Feagan. They have a son, Andy, who has cystic fibrosis like me." We have
had alot in co^on over the years and it was good to visit them. Andy seems to be doing well healthwise at
the age of 26. We also had the opportunity to visit Reggie and Linda BrazieL Reggie has an evangelistic ministrv

would hke us to come and visit you and speak at your church, please let us know. We would be glad to come
and give you an update on the mission.
Teri has been looking into getting certified in the state of Texas as ahigh school English teacher. It seems to be a

As many ofyou know, this Spring brought many unexpected challenges for us... un
his iliostomy. The initial surgery went well, but complications soon developed and
he was taken back into surgery on March 22nd as his intestines had not started
working. What the surgeons discovered when going in was very unexpected and
complicated and the sitrgeons were unable to close Jonathan's wound.. -He was inM
drug-induced comafor 5 days where he "hung " between life and death.

During this time, our prayer was that however God would be most glorified in

a 3rd surgery. The surgeons were still unable to close him, but he quickly made
progress and after having a skin graft, is now doing well! (Also unexpected by his
surgeons and doctors)! We want to thank all ofyou who "bore our burden " as if it

Teri and I are doing well. We have been blessed more than we can imagine. My
health is great. I just had a CT scan last week and everything was good. No return
of cancer and everything else seems to be fine too. I am back to 175 pounds in
weight, which is good for me. My stomach is doing fine. The skin graft from my leg
to my stomach has taken well and is just about healed completely and has covered
the open wound (hole) in my stomach. I wear a binder all the time now so I don't
strain my gut. Everything is good and working like it should. The doctors are all
pleased. We praise the Lord for your prayers and support that help make it all
possible.
Teri just acquired a new job last week. She will be teaching English at a High
school in Arlington. This new job will be full time and will provide good insurance
for both of us. It will also enable us to have her work more hours and give us a little
better income. We thank the Lord for this answer to prayer!
We are looking intently for people that will be willing to go overseas for a year at a
time to teach English to university students. Please let us know if you or someone
you know would be interested in being part of this project. We have some great
opportunities in countries where the need for a Christian influence is so great! Please
pray about this need with us.
We love you all, and thank you for all you do for the Kingdom.

I just returned from a trip overseas, and this seems also to have been the Lord's leading, as
it may provide opportunities for sending future workers...more on that at a later time. We
were thankful to have number one daughter, Fran with hubby Pete and son, Denzil stay with
Annette while I was off to another part of the world! The Lord really blessed Annette's
time with them and also my time across the seas! Pete and Fran made that trip possible ~ a
big thank you to both of them!
We lost a great worker for the Lord when Jerry Culbertson of Bethel Mo., di^ suddenly

In the June 7, 2007 Issue of USA Today, on p. 5 Sec.B, is a story of one Ameri
can college student who traveled overseas, to get her MBA degree. It was cheaper
and it required a shorter time to achieve. This is now becoming a trend that is very
popular with American college students. And this also emphasizes the awareness
that experience and opportunity overseas is a great advantage in the present mod
ern world.
What the article in USA Today does not reveal (obviously) is that this opportu
nity has been before our students for many years. 16 years ago, Y.E.S. Inc. sent
several students to South East Asia, to a University to study the local language and
culture. Two of those students are still there now, as teachers of English. I visited
with them, and have also renewed the friendship established 16 years ago with the
Local University President. These young American students had made such a last
ing and positive impression on the foreign University president and others, that we
have now been asked to send teachers of English -(and students would be welcome
as well) to teach American English in the University. We see this as an open door
that we have been presented and must be pursued. If you or someone you know is
interested in spending a year or more overseas - and you would like the details of
this invitation, and the country, please contact me - Al Hamilton, at
E-mail:
We are excited to see this opportunity being sent in our direction, and we can
not take time on this brief news-writing to explain it all, but you can be assured,
you will not be disappointed to discover the details and how it can affect your life
and service.

around despite what the doctors ail thought. As some of you know already, my iliostomy
reversal surgeiy did not go as smoothly as planned. After surgery on March 13th, my in
testines developed a blockage. Not sure how or why, but they started to swell up. TTiere
was quite a bit of internal bleeding as well. During the second surgery, I started bleeding
and went through 10 units of blood. They worked for several hours to untangle my intes
tines and because of all the complications, they could not closeme back up. Theyendedup
having to sedate me for 5 days to allow my body to rest and heal. They did try to go back
and close me back up after I stabilized, but were unable to do so. Right now I have a hole
in my stomach 6" wide and 8" long. The swelling has gone down and it is healing up.
Tliey had to give me a skin graft three weeks ago and it is taking well. I am on the mend.
In a year, they plan to do a hernia surgery and pull that together where there is no muscle.
Well, the doctors did not think I would pull tluough this one, but I am doing well, even
though I still cannot lift more than 5 lbs at a time.

A1 went to Southeast Asia to meet with family and friends. The work our team is doing is
going well. Dad was able to do a lot of encouraging, motivating, advising, and helping in
various ways as the need and ability arose. The month that he spent over there was very
profitable. There have been some possible developments that we are looking into. We are
coming into a busy time and it looks like there may be some new projects on the horizon.

Paul Jordan will be going to Asia to study language and teach English. He has been there before but will be going over un

world.
Our recruit for Equatorial Guinea, Patnck Mahoney, is still in the process ofraising support. He is need ofyour prayers as
he is making pl^s to leave in a few months to go and work with our team there and eventually start Bible translation ofthe
Old Testament in the Fang language. Since I have been out ofthe hospital around mid April, we have met with Allen and
Betty Pierce a couple oftimes. They have been here in the States, back from Equatorial Guinea for a few months and are
making some plans for the future work there. They continue in translation work of the New Testament in the Fang lan
guage. Allen and Betty are heading back to Africa May 30''*. Our other family there in Equatorial Guinea, the Ulibarries, are
doing well. They have been living in the villages and are now looking for aplace to live in town. They need prayers as they
seek a place that will be most effective for their work.
O.L 30 ANIVERSARY
Outreach Intemational was featured in the May issue ofthe mission magazine. Horizons, published by Mission Services. A1
Hamdton wrote an article about how a mission can expand without getting big. My sister, Sonja Hawkins, also wrote an ar
ticle mthat issue about awoman's role in missions as awife, mother, and helpmate, using my mom, Annette, as an example.
These articles may be ofinterest to you. "In November 2007, at the National Missionary Convention, Outreach Intemational
invites churches, workers and all interested persons, to attend a30"* anniversary - praise time and "thank you Jesus time" for many years ofservice to churches and missionary workers and recruits." This is aquote from dad's article. We would
like for you to stop by and see us ifyou are there at the convention. Please continue to pray for O.I. and all the teams in the
various countries around the world. Pray for the ministry of evangelism, which includes Bible translation, education, and
medical efforts as tools for soul winning and starting churches in Sudan, Uganda, P^ua New Guinea, Equatorial Guinea,
Thailand, France, etc.
We love you and thank Ae Lord for your part in the ministry that God has enabled us to be apart of. Teri continues to seek
a teaching job while getting her certification in the state ofTexas in the public school system here in the DFW area. I con

It is enc ouraging to hear of all the great things that God is doing through His

have reports of others that have gone overseas to spend the summer or several
