Waddell & Associates (W&A) is a fast-growing wealth management firm


based in Memphis, TN. Founded in 1987, W&A provides fiduciary investment
and financial planning services to high net worth families and individuals. As
part of W&As approach to working with clients, W&A places a strong emphasis
on ongoing communication to ensure clients have transparency into their
relationship with their advisor and insight into all of their assets and liabilities.
Communication with our clients and prospects is our number one priority
and has been a key contributor to our success over the years, says Dawn
Rapoport, CFP, Chief Operating Officer for W&A. As part of that commitment in our role as their primary advisor, we provide a holistic view of their
entire financial situation so that we can jointly make the right decisions to
help them meet their goals.
This commitment to providing a comprehensive view for clients, however,
was creating a large, manual workload for both advisors and back office staff.
Every time we had a meeting with a client it was a hassle to pull together
all of the information, statements, balances and outside holdings, says Perry
Green, Senior Vice President, Wealth Strategist, CPA, PFS, CFP, CFA. As a
result, we needed to look to technology to help streamline this process and
make us much more efficient so we could continue to grow and scale the firm.
That goal to find a technology solution led W&A to learn about Wealth
Access. In our search for a solution, we looked at some of the other
account aggregation services and client portals out there, but they were very
expensive, had sub-optimal capabilities and didnt provide a complete solution, noted Green.
Wealth Access, with its powerful aggregation engine, easy to navigate
interface, and elegant visual displays was exactly the answer that we were
searching for, Green says. Particularly the ability to hand off the onboarding process to the professionals at Wealth Access saves us a ton of time and
clients appreciate that concierge-level of service, said Rapoport.

Wealth Accesss aggregated view helps W&As advisors prep for meetings and minimize requests for
client information. One of the biggest benefits of Wealth Access is having all of the clients holdings,
both the ones we manage directly and those held away, all in one place, says Wealth Strategist, Tripp
Yates, CPA, CFA, CFP.
That consolidated view enables us to talk to the entirety of the clients situation without any manual
effort. As an example, one of our clients has a large muni-bond portfolio managed elsewhere and in
the past we would have to take the 20-page paper statement and manually input it into our systems so
we could provide the right advice on the entire portfolio. Now, with Wealth Access, that task is done
automatically, a tremendous time saver.
On the business development front, W&A is using Wealth Access in prospect presentations to showcase
the value the firm provides to clients, resulting in higher closing rates. Additionally, the aggregated view
of the clients wealth provides opportunities for asset gathering and incremental revenues.
Another compelling benefit of Wealth Access is its ability to appeal to the next generation of investor. These days, younger investors expect you to provide them with a personal financial manager like
Wealth Access, notes Green. These younger investors are going to seek out something like it on their
own, so it behooves advisors to provide that functionality for them with advanced capabilities, particularly
since many of the retail applications use personal information to market credit cards, mortgages and
other products directly to the user. With Wealth Access, we help the client maintain their privacy.
Additionally, they have the ability to permission what they want their advisor to see, providing them
with added flexibility, personalization and customization.
Looking forward, Rapoport is excited to rollout the new mobile version of Wealth Access. We position
ourselves to our clients as central to their financial lives, so when they can pull up on their smart
phones and tablets the W&A branded app of Wealth Access and see all of their assets and liabilities
right there on their phone, that cements the value added aspect of our relationship that we provide
and that is pretty cool!
