Project HRM outline

Objectives
The objective of this project is to give students an overarching view of Human Resource
Management and the application of basic functions of the HR department in corporate sector.
Furthermore, it aims at enabling them to explore HRM in a dynamic environment, HR planning,
recruitment, foundation of selection devices, employee orientation, training and development,
job analysis including job description and job specification, employee performance evaluation
and rewards & compensation management.
Case Study:
Each group is required to choose an organization which is feasible for them to approach, and
conduct interviews from the concerned manager(s) to get the required information. The acquired
information has to be analysed, assembled and presented in the form of case study using the
concepts discussed in the class.
The Presentation
All members of the group will take part in the presentation and mutually consume a timeframe of
20 to 25 minutes. Presentations that will consume more time will be penalized. At the end of the
presentation the group will have to take questions from the course instructor and the class. All
students in the group will be marked individually on their presentations and will be assessed on
following criteria:

Content

Clarity of speech

Confidence

Handling of questions

Relating / linking the acquired data to the concepts studied in class

Dressing

The Case Study (Report)


A case study has to be submitted before the presentation and it has to cover all the components
that are provided in this outline. The text should be 1.15 lines spaced (multiple) with page
margins of 1.5 cm on right and left side and default top and bottom margins. The case study
should be no less than 15 pages inclusive of all components with a font size of 16, 14 and 12 for
headings, subheadings and text respectively while the font used should be either Ariel or
Times New Roman. The introduction and background of the company including History,
Mission, Vision, Core Values / Objectives, Products / Services, Organizational Structure should
not be more than 4 to 5 pages.

Note: You have to explain the functions of HR department in the light of the
all the relevant content discussed in the class.
A sample case study will be provided for assistance.
All members have to take part in the efforts to develop, write and present the case study. All
group members will receive the same grade in the report however the marking would vary in the
presentations.
