Chapter 1

The Problem and Its Setting

Introduction
In this generation, bible is the least common book that
the

youth

and

people

read.

For

instance,

bible

is

Christian scripture wherein it consists of 66 books of more

than 40 authors during of a period approximately about 1,
500 A.C. from the old testaments to the new ones, this kind
of scriptural book include to rah or law of the Prophets
and hagriographa or writings. Moreover, the word bible
comes from biblia in Latin and biblos in Greek a term
mean book or books. Indeed, the bible is holy, God-inspired
and is the oldest book in existence.
In contrast to other religious writings, the Bible
reads as a realistic story of real events, places, people,
and dialogue. Historians and archaeologists have repeatedly
confirmed its realism. The Bible is an unparalleled love
letter to the people of God (Toni Reinke, 2014). With the
authors' own writing styles, God shows who He is and what it
is like to know Him.
The Bible not only inspires, it explains life and God
to the people. It does not answer all questions that many
people might have, but enough of them. It shows how to live
with purpose and concern. It encourages people to rely on
God for strength, direction, and enjoy his love for all. The
Bible also tells how we can have everlasting life.

Although

this

book

has

been

said

as

respected

collection and needed to be known by all people as well as

the new generation, most of them intend to ignore it. Many
Christians find the daily habit of bible reading difficult.
Most people find bible-reading confusing (Reinke, 2014).
Stephen Wadsworth argues that bible is such a chore for the
many simple facts that it demands as much as it gives,
bestows promises, and also commands obedience.
It

empowers

sacrifice,

it

and

blesses

humbly
and

it

offers
curses,

rest
extends

and

demand

grace

and

guarantees judgment. Indeed, there is no other piece of

literature classic or otherwise called living and active
than the bible. No novel or biography is declared to have
the power to divide soul and spirit, joints, and marrow.
People cant live without the Bible. It is the most
relevant book in the world (John Piper, 2014). David Mathis
stated that Bible Reading Is an Art.

Conceptual framework
The
Research Paradigm

Statement Problem
1. What are the possible factors that causes the youth
to set-aside bible reading?
2. How does bible reading contribute in ones life?
3. What are the different solutions done by the youth
to help solve the problem?
4. How does bible reading affect the youths daily
life?
5. How do the youth find bible reading?

Scope and Delimitation

Significance of the study

The researchers conduct this study to know what will

be the factors that cause the youth not to read the holy
book and their own feeling, opinions, or thoughts. The study
will help persuade and encourage the youth and attract their
hearts.
To the Youth- this study will help the generations
youth read the bible in a simple but meaningful way.
To the Priests- the results of the study will help
the

priests

to

have

strong

willingness

to

improve

and

strengthen the youths communication to God.

To Parents- The study will serve as a wake-up call to
have determination and encouragement in their children to be
engaged in bible reading.
