Hello Instructor Wardlow and fellow classmates,

My name is Keith Quarles from Memphis, Tennessee. I am currently a MATLT degree candidate in my
7th class of this major. I have basically worked part-time jobs and attend school full-time at Ashford
online. I also have Master degrees in Marketing and Organizational Management which I received at
Ashford University in 2012 and 2014. I hope to learn to critique instruction design in order to get an
idea of what is acceptable, innovative and trending in instruction design and design strategy. When I
hear the phrase program evaluation I think of a committee who reviews aspects of programs for
efficiency, fit and cost structure. I also imagine that programs will be evaluated continuously and
constantly adapted to fit the learning environment. I think assessment is need in education due to
diversity in learning environments, updated technology and training methods for teachers/students.
Instruction design is not an exact science and programs implemented will not run efficiently on auto
pilot. In other words, assessment in education is needed in order to ensure quality instruction design
and methods which ultimately produce the outcomes that signify the expansion of learners knowledge
base.
I am fifth from the bottom of 16 siblings. My oldest sister just passed away on august 28. 2014. I am
single with no kids at age 49 I learned from that experience to always depend on me for things that
benefit me. I can say that learning through technological interaction has taught me a valuable lesson
that has changed my perspective on learning. . The closest thing to a technological tool during my time
as a grammar/high school student was an overhead projector, tape recorder, and reel-to-reel projector.
My teacher used to actually let me help her operate the three tools in the 6th grade.
I am currently enrolled in the MATLT Degree program at Ashford University with a 4.0 through the
first four classes so I feel I am pursuing the right field of learning. I hope to use this degree to teach
K-12 online. From the classes I have taken so far I have begun to learn how it feels to be on the other
side of the teaching/learning relationship while still a student. The technology tools I have been
introduced to in my previous two classes have taught me the importance of seeking technological
integration to match learning objectives/activities which will be useful as an online teacher during
lesson planning and instruction design. Having a Master's degree in any field is commendable;
however, A master's degree in teaching and learning with technology will prepare me for the
technology enhanced job market, job requirements and classroom. Most jobs now require that
applications be filled out online which show trending towards a highly-evolved, technological society.
My MATLT degree with keep me in tune with technology that is used to train on the job and teach
online.

Thank You, Nice to meet you all!
