BUMAX HyperDuplex
BUFAB is the first in the world to offer cold-headed fasteners of
SANDVIK SAF 2707HD (PRE min 48)
Wire and Tubes of SAF 2707HD are used in the most demanding
applications, such as aggressive corrosive environments in
combination with high mechanical stresses and high temperatures

Wirelines for the Oil/Gas industry

Tubes for heat exchanger, refinery condensers and seawater
coolers.

BUMAX HyperDuplex is suited for use in severe environments such

as hot chlorinated seawater and for aggressive acidic, chloride
containing media in chemical, oil, gas and petrochemical industry

BUMAX Ultra
SANDVIK Nanoflex TM A unique ultra high strength, precipitaion
hardenable steel
Nano-Particles with Quasi-Crystalline Structure precipitates after ageing
Can be tempered to ultra high strength levels
Low thermal expansion (~40% lower than Austenitic
High Modulus of Elasticity
Weldable
Good corrosion properties (PRE 25), slightly lower than BUMAX 88

2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry would be awarded to Israels Daniel Shechtman of Technion for his discovery of quasicrystals in 1982. Daniel Shechtmans
discovery also has a link to Sandviks research. In the mid-1990s, Sandviks scientists were first in the world to discover quasicrystals in steel.

Why use high strength fasteners ?

Reduce size
Save weight with reduced size and fewer bolts
Important in aerospace, automotive, sports (sailing boats, bicycles)

Smaller screw joints

Compact designs

Fewer amount of bolts- maintained clamp load

Increased clamping force
Increased safety factor

Better relaxation and fatigue resistance

Galvanic corrosion
Crevice corrosion

Pitting Corrosion

Start at 20C at a given
chloride content and the
temperature is increased by
5C each 15 min up to
boiling point or initial
corrosion occurs.
