ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAM

LANGUAGE AND ARTS DEPARTMENT
TEACHERS TRAINING AND EDUCATION FACULTY
RIAU UNIVERSITY
2013

Rational
Teaching materials are the important thing that teacher should prepare before come to
the class. Teaching materials are a key component in most language programs. Teaching
materials will help the teacher in explain the material to the student. Whether the teacher uses
a textbook, institutionally prepared materials, or his or her own materials, instructional
materials generally serve as the basis for much of the language input learners receive and the
language practice that occurs in the classroom.
Teaching materials that teacher used in class should appropriate with the syllabus and
interesting. Sometimes, student dont want to learn in class because they dont interested with
the teaching material. The materials that teacher bring to the class should something that
close to our student. Materials may also serve as form of teacher training, they provide the
ideas on how to plan and teach lessons as well as formats that teachers can use. It means that
the material that teacher brings to the class describe how good the teacher on planning the
lesson plan in the class.
A good teacher take the teaching material from many sources. Not only from material
designed for instructional use but also from material not designed instructional use. Material
designed for instructional use can be printed materials (books, worksbooks, or worksheets),
nonprint materials (cassette or radio material) and materials that comprise both print and
nonprint. Material not designed for instructional use can be magazines, newspaper and TV
materials.
In class teacher also can bring authentic material and created material. Authentic
materials are teaching material that provided not for pedagogical purposes. Created materials
aare teaching materials that developed for instructional resources. Teacher can bring both
material come to the class. Maybe firstly teacher provide the student with authentic and then
come to the created and instead. But, teacher should considered, the teaching materials are
must connected, appropriate to the student and appropriate with syllabus.

used for 7 grade of junior high school in 1 st semester. This lesson plan still non perfect. The
lesson plan still need some revision in its part. Maybe there are part that not suitable each
other and appropriate to the students level. The authors are still in a learning process. If there
is an error in the design of the lesson plan please understand. Hopefully with the revision the
lesson plan will be much better.
