GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Community Development Intern will support Habitat Metro Denvers Neighborhood
Revitalization Program in the Globeville, Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods of Denver. This
college-level intern will partner with the Community Development Specialist and 5 high school
level data collection interns to collect survey, focus group and observational data using
NeighborWorks Success Measures Evaluation tools. This data collection initiative allows
Habitat Metro Denver to better understand the needs of our Neighborhood Revitalization
communities and develop plans to address them in partnership with residents and collaborating
organizations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare materials for summer 2015 Success Measures data collection
Train 5 interns to collect needed data to ensure information collected is reliable and
valid.
Provide on-the-ground leadership and support as data collection interns work in
Globeville, Elyria and Swansea to survey, conduct focus groups and collect
observational data
Manage participant incentives including soliciting donations, incentive distribution and
donor appreciation.
Enter data collected into Success Measures data collections system and basic reports to
help data collection interns and staff interpret and analyze results.
Further Habitat Metro Denvers Neighborhood Revitalization Program by being a
representative of Habitat in the community and forming strong relationships with
residents of Globeville, Elyria and Swansea.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in monthly all staff meetings
Participate in weekly Community Development team meetings
Support Habitat events in Globeville, Elyria and Swansea
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate expectations clearly
Organized, flexible and detail oriented
Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively with supervisor
Knowledge, acceptance and ability to work with diverse populations
Spanish language skills preferable
HOURS AND COMPENSATION:
Internship duration is approximately June through August 2015.

Weekly hour requirements are 20 hours per week.


This is an unpaid internship, but Habitat Metro Denver will take any necessary steps with
the educational institution in order to acquire college credit as compensation for the
internship
