Slow Food Planet Intern

Slow Food Denver is a chapter of Slow Food USA, a non-profit, membership organization
committed to revitalizing food culture and creating meaningful change in the food
system. Based on the belief that food is a common language and a universal right, Slow
Food works to create a world in which all people can eat food that is good for them,
good for the people who grow it and good for the planet. Slow Food Denver is one of
over 200 chapters in the United States. Our chapter cultivates the enjoyment of local
food with all members of the community to create a more just and sustainable food
system.

We are seeking a part-time intern to help support a new project, Slow Food Planet. Slow
Food Planet is an App that provides Slow Food community guides for cities around the
world. Denver is planned to be the second US City to launch in June 2015. Our ideal
candidate is someone with excellent communication skills, a strong community focus
and a passion for good food.
Responsibilities:
This position will work closely with the Slow Food Planet Committee to:

Coordinate the research and gathering of data, including Where to Eat, Where
to Shop and Where to Hang locations in metro Denver, including Boulder.
Enter all gathered data into the application, creating compelling content that will
be shared with the local, national and international Slow Food movement
Define a launch strategy and related communications and media plan

Ideal Candidates will have the following skills:

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize time-sensitive


assignments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Confident self-starter

Interest in sustainable food systems, local food economies and the Slow Food
mission
Flexibility, creativity and good humor

Candidates will learn and/or gain the following experience:

How to manage back end App functionality for an international resource App
Connections with the local, national and international Slow Food movement
Research experience and greater knowledge of the local food community in the
metro Denver area, including Boulder
How to create a local product launch media plan and marketing calendar

This role is an unpaid intern position, which begins March 16 and ends June 10, with an
average of 5-10 hours per week. Ideally most work will be completed at the Slow Food
Denver offices at the Source, but some can be done remotely.
