Objectives
The success of UNDPs Strategic Plan 2014 2017
depends on leaders who can manage across disciplines,
are comfortable with ambiguity and change and can
develop and deliver optimal results in different
development contexts.
The Leadership Development Pathway addresses this by
strengthening the overall leadership capacity of UNDP
staff at multiple levels by improving the way you lead,
innovate, manage, communicate and deliver on a daily
basis.
Built around UNDPs Core Competencies (Leadership,
Innovation, People Management, Communication,
Delivery) Leadership Development Pathway consists of:

Assessment & Development Planning


360 Feedback and Assessments form the basis for
customized development planning

Structured learning
Online curriculum, resources and tools designed by
Harvard Business School faculty directly applicable on the
job.

Social learning
An ecosystem of coaches, innovation catalyst, mentors,
your manager and HR to support your development

Workplace learning
Applying your new skills by prototyping solutions to UNDP
business challenges using a Human Centered Design

Your Development Pathway

Start off the experience by increasing your self-awareness


through the gift of feedback and make your development
meaningful and customized to your needs. A 360 Feedback
assessment and a DiSC Personality assessment are at your
disposal to help you formulate your individual development
plan together with your supervisor and HR Manager. This
development plan will be your guide throughout your
development journey, customized in terms of intensity and
curricula to meet your specific development needs.

Target Audience
Open to all staff with current supervisory/managerial
responsibility from G6 levels and above, including NOs.
Enrollment requires approval and commitment of
participants supervisor.

To help you create sustainable leadership habits through


daily practice you will be surrounded by an ecosystem of
support. This includes bi-weekly meetings with your
supervisor, coaching, mentoring and an online community for
peer exchange.

Duration
12 15 months

During the experience you will start each of the competencybased learning journeys in the Structured Learning through
the online leadership courses. When this is finished you move
into the workplace learning where you form teams to
collaboratively ideate and develop prototypes to solve real
UNDP business challenges. These prototypes will be
presented and shared on an online platform in a competitive
fashion- offering you an opportunity to contribute directly to
UNDP global innovation while getting exposure to the entire
organization.
Upon completion of the Leadership Development Pathway
you will conduct a post-assessment allowing you to capture
the impact of your development in concrete terms.
Completion also qualifies you for attendance in the Global
UNDP Leadership Festival.

Methodology
Online and workplace learning. Opportunity of face to
face component upon completion of the program.
