1. Teaching vocabulary:
So today, were gonna learn about some new words on the topic
cultural diversity. About the wedding
Proposal: /prpzl/ [countable] an act of formally asking
somebody to marry you
for this word, it can be descrided/illustrated in the following
picture.
draw the picture. This is a man, on his knee, showing the ring to the
girl and saying will you marry me?. And the girl reply uhm
yes!
Engagement: /nedmnt/ [countable] an agreement to marry
somebody; the period during which two people are engaged
Wedding: /wed/ a marriage ceremony, and the meal or party that
usually follows it
please look at your coursebook. Page, you can see. This is a
wedding, in the wedding there are a bride and a groom. As you can all
see.
Bride /brad/ a woman on her wedding day, or just before or just
after it
Groom: /rum/ = bride groom./bradrum/ a man on her wedding
day, or just before or just after it
Reception /rsepn/ [countable] a formal social occasion to
welcome somebody or celebrate something
and after the wedding we, the invited people join a party and we can
called it as a reception
ceremony /sermni/ [countable] a public or religious occasion
that includes a series of formal or traditional actions
as you can read in the text both weddings include the proposal
ceremony, the engagement ceremony, and the wedding ceremony

RIGHT! /OKAY! Today were going to learn about the cultural diversity.
First, I will show/introduce/present some new words about this topic. And then/
later on, we will continue to learn about the two-syllable word stress BUT with
some very special cases.
Alright! Now, I will show some vocabularies/ new words.
(on the board: write down words and their transcription)
The first word were gonna learn is proposal. With this word Ill show you this
(on the board: draw the picture)
This is an example of proposal, I believe all of u can recognize/ realize what it
means. right? So who can help me to translate it in to Vietnamese? Who
can?/please raise your little hand./ who can want to volunteer?/ I need a volunteer
to translate it in to Vietnamese?...can u?
Well-done! Excellent! That was good! Very good!
Now after the proposal well have Engagement! Now listen to me! This is a formal
agreement or promise to get married!
Does anyone know what it means in Vietnamese?

Next, an important stage, wedding. Now I want/ would like you all to look at your
coursebook page 16/ this picture. These are weddings! And this woman is called
the bride and this man is called a groom! This is easy! Right?
Who want to translate it? Who wants to try?

And after the wedding we have a party, the guest can enjoy food and drinks and
cheers

engagement ceremony and proposal ceremony. It is an event with many traditional

Thats all for the vocabulary! And next we continue with pronunciation! Today we
will study about the two syllable word stress with some special cases.

I think all of you know what it means, aint you? So can you read this word out
loud for me? I need a volunteer? ..(mi mt s ng, ch ra s khc bit khi
pronounce noun and verb ca t ny)
So as you know most two syllable words are stressed in the second syllable.
However there are some two syllable words is both noun and verb. So if it is a

verb you stress in the second syllable, if it is a noun it have to be stressed in the
first syllable. Have you got it? Understand?
I have some more word belonging to this case. ., Could you help me to stick/
hang/ put this up here. Can you all see it?

Alright do you want to play a game/ right now were gonna play a game it is
called stepping stone. ,
I will divide you into five/four groups. For each group you will have a puzzle
(pht ra). This is a river and you all want to cross the river. Your job is to step on
one stone only that has the stress on the first syllable. You are allowed to step from
one stone to the next horizontally, diagonally, vertically like this(chi ra)

The first group can find the right route and stick it up into the board will be the
winner! Ok you all understand the rule! Find the route and stick it up on the board
