Communications/Media Internship Job Description


Background
emBOLDen Alliances is a global nonprofit organization based in Golden, CO. Our mission is to
improve the lives of vulnerable communities through collaborative partnerships that
embolden the quality and impact of service.
EA is based on partnerships with NGOs, individuals, and educational institutions working in
Global Health and Humanitarian Assistance. We have worked in many challenging
circumstances and disasters worldwide with various international agencies and have built
rigorous, evidence-based academic and training programs. We create and strengthen
collaboration toward the common goal of serving those most in need, crisis-affected or
vulnerable.

Internship Description
emBOLDen Alliances is seeking an intern to manage day-to-day communications/media and
assist the Executive Director with periodic projects.
Major Responsibilities

Develop and implement Communications/Media Policy in collaboration with EA Team


Update and implement Communications/Media Strategy
Become a strong advocate and professional representative for emBOLDen Alliances in
media spaces, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Engage in and encourage dialogue on media networks on behalf of EA
Monitor, track and report media data and benchmarks toward decision-making
Create and explore new ideas for communications maximization and engagement
Coordinate with Executive Director and Team Members regularly

Qualifications

Professionalism and communication (oral and written) skills


Ability to set and meet deadlines, prioritize, and deliver
Proven experience in media channels
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong commitment to global nonprofit work
Must be able to take initiative, receive feedback constructively, and function in a
dynamic, fast-paced team

Preference given to graduate student applicants and those with strong background in
Global Health and/or Humanitarian Assistance
Must be able to travel to Golden and meet regularly in-person

Time Commitment

10 hours per week, minimum


Minimum commitment of 1 academic quarter or semester
Regular meetings held in-person and remotely (via phone or Skype)

Compensation
This internship position is unpaid, however, emBOLDen Alliances will work with students who
are seeking academic internship credit in coordination with their academic institution. This
internship will provide valuable experience in working for a global nonprofit organization with
experienced global health and humanitarian assistance specialists. The right candidate will
have the opportunity to discover resources for future nonprofit career enhancement, and the
possibility of a professional recommendation based on performance.
