This is a picture of God who is just and full of love as a judge that makes just decision over all
sins, therefore sacrificing Himself for our salvation.

THE DESIRE OF A PARENT IS FOR THEIR CHILD TO BE SECURE AND

SUCCESSFUL
As it is with parents, God our creator wants only the best for us. He is usually portrayed as
protector who cares for and protects His children (Matthew 23:37). Gods desire is to give joy
and salvation to us, His children.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What about God? Will He get rid of people who do not follow Him?
What do you think His response will be to those who reject Him? Will
God continue to desire their salvation? Will He continue to seek them
out or reject those that refuse His salvation?

SALVATION THE HEARTBEAT OF YOUR CREATOR

From the beginning, God desired for us to be saved, healthy and blessed

Gods Plan for Your Salvation

God himself prepared Salvation for you!

1 Peter 1:10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully,
who prophesied of the grace that would come to you.
Scriptural Keys of Salvation

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who desires all men
to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord God, and
not that he should turn from his ways and live? (Ezekiel 18:23)

Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.
(Psalms 35:27)

III. SIN IS THE ONLY OBSTACLE TO SALVATION

Everyone desires salvation and joy in life and it is obvious that God desires true
salvation in us too: Spiritual Salvation, health, joy and peace in our spirit, soul and body.
Therefore, He opened the way for our salvation. However, the only thing that will
prevent us from achieving it is SIN.

Parabasis : transgression (Romans 4:15; Galatians 3:19)

says that everyone has sinned and comes short of the glory of God (Romans
3:23), and there is not one person who can declare that he has no sin (1 John
1:8). One big problem that is set before us is that the wages of sin is death
(Romans 6:23). Since there is no one who can save himself from his sins, there is
the certainty of the penalty -death.

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. (Romans 14:12)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that includes us.
We need to repent and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Jesus paid the price on the

SUMMARY

God desires that we are all be saved. Therefore our sin is the only thing that keeps us from our
salvation. Because of His love, God provides us salvation through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus
Christ. We are able to receive salvation through repentance and receiving Jesus as our Lord and
Savior, and by confessing with our mouth and believing in our hearts that God have raised
Jesus from the dead. By this we are saved and are reconciled to God, thus allowing us to live in
His glory and have eternal life.

VII. CLOSING
Important for Growth

Have you received salvation for your life?

If not, follow the five steps of salvation listed below:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Realize your need for Him and repent of your sins. (Acts. 3:19)
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and then was raised again from the grave
(John 3:36)
Confess your sins (1 John 1:9)
Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and change your life with His
Holy Spirit. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. (John 1:12)
Turn away from whatever the Bible says is sin (This is only possible once Jesus has come
into your life) (Acts 3:19; John 1:12)
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved For with the heart one believe unto righteousness and with
the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

Pray this out loud:

Lord Jesus I want to stop believing in myself and in what I can do, and start believing in
You and what You have done when You died for me on the cross and then was
resurrected. I know that I am a sinner and I am convicted of my sins. I ask you to forgive me
and I invite You to come into my life and live in me. I want you to be my Savior and my
God and be the number one in my life. I want to repent and turn away from all that You said

Gods Plan for Your Healing

INTRODUCTIONS

Goal:
To ensure each student experiences miraculous healing

A Woman and a General

Matthew 9 : 20 22

Gods Plan for your healing

Sure Salvation

16

20

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind
and touched the hem of His garment.
21

For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well."

22

But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter;
your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.

2 Kings 5 : 1, 3, 9, 10, 13, 14

1

Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable
man in the eyes of his master, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He
was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper.
3

Then she said to her mistress, "If only my master were with the prophet who is in
Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy."

Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha's
house.

10

And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times,
and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean."
13

And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, "My father, if the prophet had
told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when
he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?"
14

So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the
man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

The two stories above are only a part of the many stories of healing in the Bible. There were
many different people who were healed in many different ways; there were no two that were
identical. However, they all experienced total healing!

Gods promises for your healing

From the Old Testament to the New Testament, there were

many writings about healings that were done by God. God
does not only desire for you to experience spiritual salvation
and experience eternal life but He also desires that you live in
prime health and enjoy your life on this earth. You are created
in His image.

It doesnt matter what our career is or what our purpose in life is;
we need good health to see all of them come to pass. (A.C. Green)

One of His names is ________________, which means, God Who Heals.

For I am the Lord who heals you. (Exodus 15:26)

Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,. (Psalms 103:3)

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was
bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His
stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to
his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.. (Isaiah 53:4-6)

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the
people.. (Matthew 9:35)

In the matter of healing, there is definitely a part that we need to do. For instance, we need to
maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat healthy and stay away from unhealthy food.
God is glorified more by those who are alive than
those who are holy but dead.

Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him. (John 9:38)

Gods Plan for your healing:

Basically, there is a general plan for your healing:

Listen and obey the Word of God
Look to Jesus for your healing
Follow the leadership of God in the natural doing what you can
Once you have done all that you can do, seek God for a supernatural healing.

POWER AND AUTHORITY OVER SICKNESS AND DISEASES

Gods Plan for your healing

Sure Salvation

19

Through the blood of Jesus, we get power and authority over sickness. By His stripes we have
been healed (I Peter 4:24). God created us in His image, and to give us authority:
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every
creeping thing that creeps on the earth. (Genesis 1:26)

The power that God possesses has been transferred to us, because God wants to achieve His
purpose through our lives. That includes making us His temple (which is our bodies where He
reigns and does His work) healthy and functioning properly.

How do we receive healing from God:

Chapter IV Lesson 3

Gods Plan For Your Prosperity

I.

OPENING

The Bible is full of Gods promises of blessings and prosperity for His people. God cares
about your life and He wants to abundantly bless you and meet all of your needs.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your
soul prospers. (3 John 1:2) (NKJ)
Prosper in all things = prosper in everything. Do you know that repressive poverty is a curse?
The devil wants to rob us of Gods blessing. But God intends for us to live in abundance:
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that
they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10)

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Does prosperity mean that every Christian will be a millionaire?
What is your definition of being prosperous?

Richness and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. (Proverbs 8:18)
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth,
that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
(Deuteronomy 8:18)

2. We are blessed in order to ___________________________________.

And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of
the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 28:2)
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of

law he meditates day and night, he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that

PROSPERITY : HOW TO GET IT AND LIVE IN IT.

Basically, prosperity is the fruit of a life that is dedicated to God.
Five principles to be prosperous and live in prosperity:

A.

The principle of offering and

Tithing: a tenth of our income that is given to a local church where we serve and
worship.

The principle of sowing and

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and
prove Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, If I will not open for you the
windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room
enough to receive it . (Malachi 3:10-11)

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will
also reap. (Galatians 6:7)

Do not place our trust in wealth.

(Philippians 4:12-13)

God should be our only trust and priority.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you. (Matthew 6:33)
Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man
glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glorifies glory
in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising
lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the
LORD. (Jeremiah. 9:23-24)

Chapter V - Lesson 4

The Power of Water Baptism

I.

OPENING

Water baptism is the next most significant step in Christianity after salvation. It is not a mere
ceremony like a flag raising ceremony at school or a cake-cutting ceremony during a wedding, etc.
Rather it has a deep spiritual meaning and impact.
The first miracle after the Israelites left Egypt was the parting of the Red sea wherein they walked and
passed the sea on dry ground. (Exodus 14:21-31).
This represents the leaving behind of the old life through the miraculous power of God in water
baptism.
Every believer needs to be water baptized. Water baptism is a demonstration of our obedience in the
natural while declaring a spiritual truth. Through water baptism, we identify ourselves with the death
and resurrection of Jesus.
Through baptism, we declare ourselves dead to our sin and alive in Christs resurrection.

II.

WHY WE NEED TO BE WATER BAPTIZED

1. It is _________________________________(Matthew 28:19)

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)

2. ________________________________before God (1 Peter 3:21)

There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism (not the removal of the filth of
the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus
Christ (1 Peter 3:21)

3. Because ________________________________(Matthew 3:13-17)

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to
prevent Him, saying, I have need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me? but
Jesus answered and said to him, Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all
righteousness. (Matthew 3:13-15)

4. Baptism represents circumcision (Colossians 2:11-12)

When God made a covenant with Abraham and blessed him, He declared that the
covenant was only valid for Abrahams circumcised descendants (Genesis 17:10,13).
Those who were not circumcised could not partake in the blessing, and they were cut off
from the midst of their people (Genesis 17:14).
5. Baptism represents the putting away of the old nature and cleansing of our sins. Through
baptism, the sinful nature is put away (Romans 6:4-13).
6. It is a public confession of what we have experienced in Christ. We declare that we are
identified with Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:1-11)
7. It is a significant step to total salvation.
(Acts 2:37-38)

Baptism is our confession:

that we believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
that we are a part of it
that we have nothing to do with it anymore

The word baptism is taken from Greek word baptizo which means :

1.

fully with liquid

2.

something into a liquid and then remove it out again.

3. Baptizo also means _____________________________

Then Jesus, when He had been baptized, came up immediately from the water; and behold,
the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and
alighting upon Him. (Matthew 3:16)

Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away,
so that the eunuch saw him no more. (Acts 8:39)

Chapter VI - Lesson 5

Each Day With Christ

I. OPENING

On The Way Home from Out of Town

In every relationship, communication is very important. Many
marriages are destroyed and companies are in trouble because of a
lack of good communication. We need to talk and listen to God so we
can grow spiritually. This way, we are building a relationship with the
source of all life and truth, who is God the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit. God is waiting for you to come and commune with Him.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

God is often symbolized as the lover of our soul.
How are the lives of people who have fallen in love with each other?

2. The second part of our devotion is __________________________________________.

Although we can meet with God whenever and wherever, we still need to set aside a specific time
for devotion, alone with God, giving Him time to speak to our lives.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
If you are a father or a parent, how would you feel if your child comes to you to
have a conversation?

Six important things in your life:

Each Day With Christ
Sure Salvation

37

1.
2.
3.
4.

5.
6.

Start your prayer with thanksgiving and praises for what God has done
in your life.
Confess all your sins and repent from all unforgiving attitude that the
Holy Spirit reminds you of.
Pray and ask God for the things that you need, and ask in faith.
(Philippians 4:19; 2 Peter 1:3; Matthew 6:33; 1 John 5:14-15)
Pray and intercede for others, for example, for friends or family
members who have not known Jesus, church, government, missionary,
etc. Open your heart for the Holy Spirits guidance and ask specifically
in prayer.
Always remember to give thanks to God for every answered prayer.
Be quiet and allow God speak to you personally.
Pray as though everything depends on God.
Work as though everything depends on you.

Prayer and Fast

In certain instances, prayer needs to be supported by fasting, that is, no eating and/or
drinking for a certain period of time so as to focus ourselves on God. By fasting, we limit
our fleshly desires and strengthen our spiritual life. Fasting is usually accompanied by
praying and reading of the word of God.

The purposes of fasting:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

To strengthen our prayer in asking God for help (Esther 4:16; Psalm 109:24).
To humble ourselves before God (Leviticus 16:29)
It is a sign of repentance (Joel 2:12)
To minister to God or to prepare ourselves for ministry (Matthew 4:2; Luke 2:37)
To declare mourning (Daniel 10:2-3)

3 Kinds of fasting:

Absolute fast: No eating or drinking for a specified period of time. (Esther 4:16)
Partial fast: No eating, but drinking only.
Abstain from eating certain kinds of food. (Daniel 10:2-3)

2. THE WORD OF GOD

Abundant blessings always follow people who live according to the Word of God
(Psalm 1:1-3). The Word of God has great power because it is the voice of God itself.
All you need to know about God and about this life are found in the Bible. Therefore,
the Bible is a book that you should adhere to very dearly, because it will bring you
success.
Why we need to study the Word of God:
1.

John 5:39

2.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

3.

Romans 10:17; 15:4

4.

1 Peter 3:15

5.
Ephesians 6:17, 1 John 5:4, Acts 4:12, James 4:7
6.

Other benefits of reading the Word of God:

Makes us successful Joshua 1:8
Refreshes our soul and gives wisdom Psalm 19:8
Brings joy Psalm 19:9
Brings reminder and gives reward Psalm 19:12
Makes our step firm and not slip Psalm 37:31

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

If you are given a book that will make you wiser, stronger, have more joy, and be more
successful, what will you do with that book?

In reading the word of God:

1.

Ask the Holy Spirit to be your teacher and counselor

(John 16:13-14; Psalm 119:18).
Receive what God has spoken to you through His words
(Hebrews 3:7-8; 4:1-2), because faith comes from
hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)
Say the Word of God aloud (during prayer or praise &
worship) to yourself (to build up our spirit and faith), to the devil (to defeat
every of his attack like what he did to Jesus). Matthew 4:7.
Meditate Gods word (Proverbs 4:20-23, Joshua 1:8). Stop for a moment and
ponder over what God might communicate through His words.
Respond to what you hear and practice it in your life.
Write down every impression/message that God gives you through reading His Word.
Memorize one or two verses.

2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

Read your bible systematically and regularly. It has been suggested that you dont read
the Bible randomly. You can start with the Gospel of John, and read other Gospels and
finish the New Testament, then proceed on with the Old Testament.

IV.

PLANNING YOUR DEVOTION TIME

1.

Choose a quiet place

Since devotion is the time for you to meet with God, every distraction should
be avoided.
It is best to have your devotion time alone.

2.

V.

Choose a certain time

Choose an appropriate time for yourself, but it has been suggested that
you start your day with devotion (preferably in the morning).

God is worthy of the best of our time, so give Him the best in terms of
your time, dont just grant Him 5 minutes here and there whenever you
can.

We need to give time for God to speak to us.

Remember that the most important thing is the quality of time, not just
the quantity (how long it is) alone.

Chapter VII - Lesson 6

Holy Spirit Your Partner to Success

I.

OPENING
3 kinds of cups:

1. Dirty cups
1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature,
because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward
appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
2. Broken cups
Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, He said to them, Those who are well have no need of a
physician, but those who are sick.
John 14:12 Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and
greater works than these he will do.
3. Inverted cups

A cup is made to be filled. A cup that never contains water is not fulfilling the purpose of why it is
made for in the first place. We are created to be filled as well. People, who are not filled with the
power of God through the Holy Spirit in their lives, are not fulfilling the purpose of the Creator.

45

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Have you ever met someone that is in the category of An Inverted cup? In your
opinion, why are they in this condition? Why wouldnt they want to be a cup, a place
that can be filled with every desire for God in this world?

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul encouraged us to always be filled with the Holy Spirit
(Ephesians 5:18). Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20), but He needed to
be filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1,14). The apostles needed to be filled (Acts 2:2-4), and
Paul was also needed to be filled with the Holy Spirit. If great characters of faith in the bible
needed the Holy Spirit, the more we do.
Ephesians 5:18 - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.
Matthew 1:20 - an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do
not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 4:1, 14 - Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan In the
power of the Spirit to Galilee...
Acts 2:2-4 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled
the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and
one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

II.

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT ?

Holy Spirit is not some kind of ambiguous influence or mystical ideas. Holy Spirit is an
individual. It means that He can communicate and make Himself real to us. We cant see
Him, but Hes real and can impact our lives deeply through our spiritual being. It is the third
person of the Trinity. Similar to God the Father and God the Son.
The Holy Spirit is :

He is in our daily life, communicating with us, opening Himself to us, and waiting for us to
open ourselves to Him. He is an individual, therefore is speaking to us individually too. Every
believer must know the power of Holy Spirit that brings life and strength to them daily.
Without Him, we cant live in Gods power or know the power of God in our lives. In order to
live to the fullest, we need the gift from God our Father, which is the Holy Spirit.
John 7:38-39 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow
rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him
would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

we were all baptized into one body-whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free-and
have all been made to drink into one Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of

His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the
whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having
put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the
preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which
you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the
helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying

with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints
Ephesians 1:17-23 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He

It helps our prayers to be more ___________________________________

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know
what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us[1]
with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27Now He who searches the hearts knows what
the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the
will of God.
1 Corinthians 14:4,15 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies
edifies the church. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will
also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
Ephesians 5:18-20 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have
entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love
Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all
things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the
spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the
Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is
from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the
Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does
not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all
things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For "who has known the mind of the
LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

them money, saying, "Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive
the Holy Spirit." But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that
the gift of God could be purchased with money! You have neither part nor portion in this
matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness,
and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are
poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity." Then Simon answered and said, "Pray to the
Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me."

Galatians 3:2-5 - This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of

Luke 11:11-13 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if
he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he

A woman with spirit of infirmity

Luke 13:10-17
Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who
had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But
when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, Woman, you are loosed from your
infirmity And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
But the ruler of the synagogues answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath;
and he said to the crows, There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be
healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day. The Lord then answered him and said, Hypocrite! Does
not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water
it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound-think of it-for
eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath? And when He said these things, all His
adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were
done by Him.

Some diseases are caused by the bondage of the power of darkness. Not only diseases, but there are
some weaknesses of a Christian that may also be caused by this bondage. The existence of the spirit
and power of darkness realm is a fact in a Christians life. In this lesson, you will understand the
reality of the power of darkness and how you can overcome it. God has freed you and you are free
indeed!
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, If you abide in My word, you are My disciples
indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Therefore if the Son makes
you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:31-32, 36)

II.

THE REALITY OF THE POWER OF DARKNESS IN THIS AGE

Many people think that those things are common and not harmful as long as they do not
endanger others, or even help others. They believe in black magic and white magic. They
differentiate good spirits from evil spirits. The truth is that many evil spirits appear to be
good spirits only to deceive human. Every spirit of the devil is evil, even if they transform to
be the angel of light:

And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light
(2 Corinthians 11:14)

However, God is strongly against our involvement with evil spirit:

Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I
am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:31)

And the person who turns after mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I
will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. (Leviticus 20:6)

And when they say to you, Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,
should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law
and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in
them (Isaiah 8:19-20)

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the
fire m or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a
sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For
all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the
LORD your God drives them our from before you (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

Involvement with evil spirit (fortune telling, horoscope, white magic, witchcraft, etc) is
prohibited because:

III. THE DEVIL AND HIS WORK

To defeat the strategy of the devil, we need to know who he is and what he can do.
His name represents who he is:
enemy, hater, opponent (Job 1:6-12; 2:1)
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before
the LORD, and Satan also came among them. And the LORD said to Satan,
From where do you come from? So Satan answered the LORD and said,
From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.
Accuser, betrayer (Zechariah 3:1-2)
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the
LORD, and Saran standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the LORD
said to Satan, The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen
Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?"

forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and
prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
To initiate sin (1 John 3:8, Ephesians 2:2)
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
In which you once walk according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from
the simplicity that is in Christ.

To condemn (Revelation 12:10, Job 1:2, Zechariah 3:1-2)

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and
the power of His Christ have come, for..., who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast
down.
To destroy us mentally and physically (1 Corinthians 5:5, Luke 13:16)
Deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord
Jesus.
So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound-think of it-for eighteen
years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?

To oppose God, His kingdom, and His people (1 Chronicles 21:1, Ezekiel 28:12-15)
Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
To brings us death (Hebrews 2:13, Jude 9, John 8:44)
And again: I will put My trust in Him. And again: Here am I and the children whom God has given me.
And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
(Matthew 17:18)

Though the devil and his works exist, but Christians shouldnt fear him. Jesus Christ the Lord
has defeated the devil and all his angels.
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He
poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12)
But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong
man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace (Luke 11:20-21)
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting
down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

IV.

DELIVERANCE MINISTRY

Many believers ask of the importance of deliverance. Is

it a new doctrine? Actually, this ministry is a ministry
that Jesus had started to rebuke evil spirits:

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast
out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick (Matthew 8:16)

Victory Over the Power of Darkness

59

And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to
cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease (Matthew 10:1)

And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that
the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled (Luke 11:14).

Bottom line is that deliverance ministry is to release people whose body, soul, and spirit are
bound by the power of darkness, with the authority of Jesus name.

People who need deliverance are those who:

1. Were involved with occult activities :

QUESTIONS ON DELIVERANCE MINISTRY

1.

Can a Christian be demon possessed?

Born again Christian cannot be possessed (under the power of / owned / fully
controlled) by the devil. After being born again, we belong to God, and the Holy Spirit
lives inside us.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a
price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are Gods.(1
Corinthians 6:19-20)

However, Christians can be bothered if we open our lives to the devil, for example by
sinning and being unwilling to repent, keeping unresolved issues/bitterness, and being
involved in occult practices (whether its on purpose or not).
2.

How do we fight against the power of darkness?

3.

That person must be born again (1 John 5:18)

Submit to the authority of God / Word of God (James 4:7) and maintain intimate
relationship with the Lord.
Give no chance to the devil (Ephesians 4:27)
Rebuke the devil (James 4:7)

Can everybody be involved in deliverance ministry?

Jesus gave the power for His disciples to heal the sick and rebuke evil spirits.
However, we suggested that those who have never been involved in the ministry to
start with somebody that has gone through it before. Many people try to do
deliverance without understanding the meaning behind it or they have yet a stable and
strong life in Christ (they still have unresolved issues in their lives before God), and
this is dangerous.
