Boolean Operations
If two objects intersect, several
boolean operations are available
to produce the desired geometry
and material distribution.
None
The intersection is kept. The boolean operation
needs to be performed later on.
None to all
Same as None but no other intersection checks
are performed.

Brick (existing shape)

Performing boolean operations later on

To perform a boolean operation select the first object,
choose the operation via icon or shortcut and then
select one or more additional shape to process.
Special treatment of some material combinations
Metallic objects always get priority over dielectric
objects if they overlap with dielectric media
(no boolean operation is required in this case).

Intersect

Insert highlighted shape

Sphere will be inserted into Brick.

Intersect both shapes

Only intersection is kept with
material properties of existing
shape.
Cut away highlighted shape
Sphere is subtracted from brick,
material properties of the brick
are kept.

Metallic

Add both shapes

Produces a single combined shape
with material properties of the
existing shape.

Trim highlighted shape

Brick will be trimmed from the

Pick Operations

Change the view of the model by

using the toolbar buttons or shortcut keys to choose the navigation
mode and drag the mouse while
pressing the left button.

Pick operations are used to select

geometric entities to base various
actions on them, e.g. aligning the
WCS or measure distances/angles.

Alt

Use the WCS to perform geometrical

operations in a local coordinate
system (u,v,w) independent of the
global coordinate system (x,y,z).
The following steps are required to
define a WCS:

x

1. Pick entity (see pick operations)

2. Switch on WCS
3. Align center of WCS with selected point W
