STRENGTHS/SUGGESTIONS - List overall strengths and suggestions for the instructor

Strengths:
You are helpful and friendly to students. You use of target language extensively and students are
challenged to work in all three modes of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, and
presentational).
Your class is inviting because you use excellent visuals. You also provide a great deal of strategies to
help students understand new concepts.
Suggestions:
Continue to use the professional development resources provided by Blended Schools to help you work
on areas of online teaching that you feel would improve your instruction and delivery.

INSTRUCTOR COMMENTS
Warm up: Students recorded what they learned on last class. They used the words or sentence
structures to make a sentence.
I spoke in 95% of target language to my students.
We continued to learn the grammar. I had a slide on the screen with the grammar meaning in English
and an example in simplified Chinese. I let students read the English meaning by themselves. I then
explained the example to them.

Then, students used this grammar pattern to make a sentence by their own. Students typed their
answers and reported it to the class. While they reported their answers, I corrected their errors at the
same time.

We practiced reading. Before reading, I introduced three words to students. The purposed is to help
students expand their vocabulary. They were not just learning one word from the book. They also
learned how to combine it with other words that they learned and have different meaning.
Students read the text without the usage of the pinyin. It was a challenge for my students. I highlighted
the important grammar in the text and reminded students one more time while they were reading it.

Pair work: (Put everything they learn together)

Students practiced with their partners and were asked questions about where would you like to play in
winter vacation? They were also asked about the transportation, how you go there? What
transportations that you need to take, etc.
I was not able to let all students practice in the class, but we would continue to practice in the next
class.

I posted the homework for students and students left.

I would need to take more time to plan for effective closure and watch timing of lesson to make sure
that closure takes place.
- I would need to make sure that my directions are clear in order for students to follow it.

The Supervisor has discussed the observation with me. I have seen this completed
form. I am aware that I may include comments on this form that will be kept on file.
