Teacher Technology Survey

Other areas for Professional Development:

Number Response Text
Use of i-touch or i-pods for instruction
1 Making podcasts
2 none at this time

I only selected three above because this survey wouldn't let me go on without doings so. All I
3 wish for is actual scheduled time to offer professional development to the staff in my building.

Develop and use collaborative tools for students to use in group projects.
Provide easy access to information, including student performance information.
4 Improve communications through the use of sophisticated software (First Class, for example).
I'd like to do the above when or technology is upgraded. I don't do it not because it's not
5 supported at my school.
6 Time to learn the software in our building including the Notebook.
7 Smart Board
8 ways to adapt access for students with disabilities
9 continued professional development for use of augmentative communication in classrooms
Don't really want development in any of these broad areas but I had to choose something so
10 I picked the top three.
I really feel that kids benefit tremendously from using back of the room computers to
enhance their learning. I hope every classroom will get to have some computers for
11 children's use.
I am a PC uses, I would just like to learn to use a Mac better so that I can use it more
12 efficiently in my classroom.
I don't feel I need professional development every other month to use my computer. I am a
13 fan of life long learning, but sometimes the pro. development is not very helpful.
14 Continued time to review and introduce technology presently available in building.
15 Creating assessments and lessons for student use frequently in the classroom
16 none
Monthly "0" day technology update what is available for the teachers in our district ( 5 - 10
17 min )
18 It would be nice to have smart boards in each classroom like other districts do.
19 Ways I can have students use technology independently to help meet the FOS
20 * More Spanish cds and tools to use for my students.
21 neo, and next years new operating system
How to use google docs. in the classroom. Smartboard. Voicethread in the classroom. More
22 on blogging ideas and use of wikis in the elementary
23 none
Learn to use Skyward more effectively
24 Learn to use email as a way to increase communication with students and parents
Utilizing all great programs on the internet that are free. Such as del.ici.ous, google
applications, and RSS. I think more teachers need to know about the luxury of the Internet,
and we need to be trained on ways to incorporate the Internet into our daily lives personally,
as well as in our lesson planning. Our students are growing up in a time where technology is
leading them, but there is very little instruction in using the technology. As a result, kids use
the Internet carelessly and unsafely. With better instruction, they can learn how and why
technology is important and beneficial. There is a whole lot out there, and it has more to do
with communicating with friends and strangers. I am concerned technology education is
pushed aside and swept under the rug, assuming kids will learn and adapt on their own. We
need more tech education in our schools from trained professionals who know how and why
25 the program(s) are needed and used.
26 Smartboard
27 Use of music technology
28 More time and information on previous tutuorials (ie podcasting)
29 Advanced Productivity Software instruction, ie. Filemaker Pro
Opportunities to revisit the existing tech tools/equipment that we have and be able to tap into
30 them and use them at their fullest potential.
31 laptop
To become more proficient with the tools that we already have. For example, SmartBoards,
32 Onfinity, Qomo tablets, Avermedia projectors, Qwizdom, Safari Montage.
Blogs for Students
33 Digital Cameras to make learning connections between school and home
I needed to check more than three--I would also like to know more about video editing tools,
34 and also using graphics, and sound
35 Mores uses for overhead system
I am also interested in learning more about videos--editing tools and graphics and sound--I've
36 done it a couple of times, but not often enough for it to stick
I'd like to learn to apply features such as blogs, Google docs, video conferencing, and
webinars to student learning as a means to foster 21st century skills -- not the "how to" but
the application; I'd like to learn from someone who has actually used these types of
interactive media tools WITH students.....and when I learn from the district, I expect the tools
37 to be functional in my classroom.
We have a lot of other technology in the school that many of us do not know how to use.
38 Examples clickers and smart boards.

39 I'm only checking these because I have to pick three--none of them actually meet my needs.
Some of the above I checked I have mastered but since I had to choose 3 to move on that is
40 exactly what I did.
More training on developing lessons for the SmartBoard--how to incorporated it more
41 frequently into daily instruction.
I would like to have the resources for not just my use of technology, but the students' use of
technology in the classroom. The students need to have access to the same technology
42 teachers have access to.
I would love to be able to use wiki's and nings to move the scope of learning beyond the
43 classroom.
More training in any educational area would be beneficial..it seems there are always new
ideas and programs out there that sound like they would benefit my students and we never
44 have access to them.
45 *planning lessons incorporating the use of or through technology with teammates
Design/obtain power point presentations for lesson enhancement. I spend so much time
planning outside of school already, and designing a power point presentation would add to
46 that time, and I just don't have it to spare
47 Web 2.0 tools
48 Technology/programs for social emotional learning for students
49 On-line reading instructional strategies/programs for students

Opportunities to share information between LRC staff and outside libraries. More Smart Board
training. Professional Development related to new ideas to of how to utilize our existing
50 technology in ways we have not already thought of. We don't know what we don't know!!
51 Utilize software that corresponds with MAP RITs to individualize curriculum for students.
52 Using blogs, wikis and other ways to get kids included
53 Using tablets, smartboards, and other newer tools for teaching.
Differentiated instruction for staff on technology. Some are more advanced than others and
54 could benefit with more advanced training.
Blogging, using iChat, web page creation and publishing, Garage Band, using online
textbooks, backing up information to the server, how to test whether or not a site is open for
55 students, using excel to manage data
I feel my colleagues educate me whenever a particular technology question arises. With their
help, I have been able to utilize technology within my classroom on a daily basis to engage
56 and challenge my students.
I consider myself very proficient in technology use both in my personal and professional life. I
have the advantage of being able to share my knowledge with my students by using laptops
to teach them to create amazing digital products, using programs like iPhoto, iMovie and
Garage Band. I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes when they get to be creative and
show me what they know, using the technology that has become such an important part of
their lives. I look forward to the future development of technology in education. I would love
to see more staff taking advantage of the resources out there. We need more time for staff
development. We need time to share what we are doing and teach each other. Kids need
time to share what they are doing in other classes, so teachers can see the products of other
57 teachers.
1. How to differentiate using technology.
58 2. How to increase literacy using technology.
59 Smartboard use with laptops

I feel that the professional development needs to be an ongoing thing. I consider myself
fairly advanced when it comes to the technology, but I feel that we can always benefit from
some professional development. I believe that we can learn a great deal from each other and
that the professional development allows us to have the opportunity to share or develop
ideas. I also feel that professional development is important because technology is constantly
60 changing and we, as staff, need to be aware of changes or updates that happen each year.

62 Learning the best way to show my students things like powerpoint, excel, etc.
I would like to learn how to use the smart board. I know that it is a great tool so I would like
some training on how to use in my classroom. I would also like to learn more about tablet
computers. I know there are some cheap options out there as far as tablets and I think they
63 could be great tools for the students to use.
64 I'd like to become more fluent in spreadsheets, setting up files, and organizing information.
I would like the district to provide us with more virtual labs via educational software that has
been bought for us to use in the science classrooms. Also I would like to know of more
online videos available for us to support science in the classroom. We already have Montage
but not all science topics (from the I Can Statements) are on Montage. I would like to have
access to United Stream. I see a lot of use for the laptops in the classroom and lots of
65 learning, except that I would like to have more access to paid websites.
I would specifically like professional development on the new iMovie/iDVD. This changes
66 yearly (it seems) and I cannot keep up with how the program is changing.
I wish the ISS department was more willing to help teachers. It seems they put up a number
of road blocks to make it difficult for teachers. Their job is to support us and they are not
willing to do it. Some schools have hired companies to manage their networks, I think we
67 should too!
The above 3 topics includes my areas of concern. In order to enhance the opportunities for
professional development, Kathy Savage should be replaced with someone who has a degree
in technology as a start. At our school, we have experienced a lot of grief from the I.S.S.
department when it comes to assisting our school with technology issues. Aren't they
68 supposed to help us????
Not a professional development concern...just an observation...there are too many hurdles
placed in our way to use many aspects of technology. Sites blocked, no student access to the
internet from home, printing issues all combine to raise the level of frustration when
69 attempting to integrate technology into the classroom.
It would be nice if our ISS professionals actually listened to the needs of teachers rather than
saying no all of the time. No one seems to care what is best for kids and for instruction and
what we feel is useful in our classrooms. It would be nice if teachers had some real input
70 into what happens.
