Section 1
Hamlet is a unique character with complex personality traits. As we can see through
the play Hamlet is witty, intuitive and impulsive, and being impulsive have let him to
stir trouble, but as he has this traits in contrast he is tolerant, and charismatic, which in
my opinion allowed him to achieve his purpose. Hamlet displays grief itself, his
appearance reflects mourning and also pain and sorrow.
...I am myself indifferent honest; but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were
better my mother had not borne me: I am very proud, revengeful, ambitious, with
more offences at my beck than I have thoughts to put them in, imagination to give
them shape, or time to act them in. What should such fellows as I do crawling
between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all. (3,1,132-140)
This quotes shows how Hamlet views himself, but not only himself but also all
people. For him this where the worst characteristics people have, yet he has them, I
think this shows a sense of humility from Hamlet since he accepts his flaws.
Section 2
Hamlets tragic flaw is procrastination, and by this I mean it was hard for Hamlet, to
put into action, his thoughts, and this was because of his insecurities, he wasnt sure if
Claudius had killed his father, Even so after he can tell Claudius is guilty, he cannot
bring himself to finally get revenge. To be, or not to be? That is the question
Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And, by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep
No moreand by a sleep to say we end
The heartache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir totis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished! To die, to sleep.
To sleep, perchance to dreamay, theres the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. Theres the respect
That makes calamity of so long life. (3,1,57-70)
This quotes reveals he is indecisive, about what suicide is, what it involves, at first he
thinks it might be like a deep sleep, but then he starts thinking what can come out of
deep sleep, and he isnt sure again. It also shows his search for answers, for solutions.
But this search led him to doubts and to uncertainty, the more he thinks, the less he
does.
Section 3
Madness is a state of mind; it can vary depending of who and who it is viewed. In my
point of view Hamlet was merely pretending to be mad in order to disguise his real
intentions. How strange or odd soe'er I bear myself, as I perchance hereafter shall
think meetTo put an antic disposition on(1.5.58). As we can see in this quote he
actually warns his friends, by telling them hell pretend to be mad, this shows he isnt
actually mad. Or is he?, It is Hamlets madness that killed Ophelia, the way his

rejection affected her, but not only his rejection but the fact that he killed her father,
made her victim of Hamlets madness. But these were never Hamlets intention as he
declared his love on her deathbed. In the quote below we can see that Hamlet truly
loved Ophelia, He even felt he didnt have a reason to live anymore.
I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers
Could not with all their quantity of love
Make up my sum. What wilt thou do for her? (5,1,247-248) The nature of Hamlets
love for Ophelia is weak, cause he loves in the function of what he is and not who he
loves.
