WHAT
GROUP
BELONG?
DOES
YOUR
DAUGHTER
Research has shown that one in five girls feel too insecure about their looks
and so they hold back from asking or answering questions in class.
Every school, community etc. has at least three groups of girls. I call them:
The Reds
The Cream
The Purple
The Reds absorb everything they pick from any media platform. From
fashion, to language to perspective, the Reds internalize the entire media experience and transform to suit prevalent culture. They are considered deviant.
They are the most likely to get into sex, drugs and other vices. They are the
least likely to get and keep a pregnancy. They have a lot of
experience
with that. Sadly, they create the pressure on the rest to belong to something
they consider the yardstick of hip.
These girls have no personal values of their own and take upon themselves the
most resounding views in their space. These girls need help. They are usually
not as strong as they appear to be.
The Cream like I call them, have no strong colour of their own. Depending on
the space and the quality of the pressure, they can take upon themselves the
Reds or the Purple personality. You see the cream for more of the times, indulge and accept the propaganda of the Reds. They think the Reds are cool
and the boys want them and they usually believe that is the teen priority validation. First they begin to see themselves as ugly, undesirable and unattractive. This group is the volatile group. They usually grow up to believe that its a
privilege to be asked out. So they are not likely to say no to a boys attention
because the asking out is a validation. So they usually
expose themselves to all kinds of risk. So the girl in this narrative can eventually get pregnant
and take up very unhealthy life styles.
The Purples a unique blend of girls. Depending on the number, they can
squash the Reds perspective. Sadly, they are usually fewer. The Purples
believe there is a time and place for everything. They brag about boys being
afraid of them. They have rock solid certainty of choices they would never
make. But some of them still struggle with body confidence. Infact, its the
shame of the body a lot of times that makes them disinterested in the boys.
Some of them are bothered whether or not any boy will even in the future be
interested in them. They have crushes on boys but they have mastered how to
hide it which is most successful when they are in a power packed group of
friends.
No matter the group, every teen girl out there is desperate about finding the
right answers. Even the Reds. Perhaps, especially the Reds. They may be uncomfortable about seeking adult counsel openly but in the right atmosphere
they want to break out of the compulsion of being cool according to peer
standards. The cream wants answers too. The Purple needs reaffirmation that
they are beautiful, making awesome progress and learn how to stay on it.

Using several structures, the girl will learn how to set growth goals and work
to achieve them.
We will work with them to build rock solid visions of their future and see how
to navigate their way to the top.
Using strategic tools, the girls will build sound character and the resilience
to become all they are designed to be.
We will work with them to clearly define the appropriate kind, place and
time for boys.
We will work with them to confront, engage and demystify peer pressure.
Develop a code that helps girls deal with manipulation that comes from
media culture, societal expectations etc..
Provide information on a consistent basis on health and hygiene for girls.
